Help me find this dressing gown?

Hoping you could all help me search for something, that I am not sure exists!

My dressing gown has finally died. After 20+ years of getting singed on the fire, coffee spilt down the front, sleeves dipped in butter, vomited on by cats, shed on by cats, kneaded by cats... it's gone Haloween Sad

On the other hand, it was only about a fiver from Tesco, or somewhere like that, and I never liked it. Halloween Blush

I've had a torrid time recently and have decided, as a proper adult, I can allow myself to get a proper dressing gown - i.e. one that costs more than a fiver, and which I actually like.

But I've been googling, and I don't think what I want exists. What I want is a patchwork dressing gown - like Mr. Bagginses here - but full-length, proper silk-velvet, lined, and woman-shaped.

Has anyone come across such a thing?

Have you looked at Toast, what's your budget

whitershadeofpale · 26/10/2020 14:31

Etsy would be good. I typed in patchwork dressing gown and this is the first thing that came up! I’m sure there are far cheaper ones on there

Omg £500 for a dressing gown ! Would cost a fraction of that even if you had one made especially. If you still have cats I would recommend another £5 one from Tesco xx

Generally speaking, my budget is around £10 or less from charity shops (just to give you some idea of my style, er, expertise).

But for this last-in-a-lifetime spend on something I shall probably wear every day for the next 20 years, I'm prepared to pay £100s. Will have a look at Toast.

ooh, not thought of that - will have a look.

Don't actually want Mr Baggins replica, though, but a velvety, swish, female version

That etsy one is a bit bland fabric - I was after more of a burgundy / bronze / gold / green velvety affair...

There’s a gorgeous velvet one on Toast for over £300 🤦🏻‍♀️ 😂

They're nice, but they're not patchwork velvet!

Perhaps I do need to get someone to make one specially. I'd have sworn there would be a market for this sort of thing already though?

unless you're all agreed i have shocking taste

See, I like the colours and 'feel' of this one - if only someone would chop it up and sew it back together in patchwork squares... Halloween Grin

I googles velvet patchwork dressing gown. Quite a few on pintrest, but links to museums and vintage shops.

This was another link:

www.amara.com/us/shop/bathrobes

they are pretty pricey, but a couple that might do on there.

Search for a robe, not a dressing gown.

A local dressmaker could easily make one

Eminybob · 26/10/2020 15:19

How handy are you op? Could you get some beautiful material and sew your own?
