Help me find this dressing gown?

Hoping you could all help me search for something, that I am not sure exists!

My dressing gown has finally died. After 20+ years of getting singed on the fire, coffee spilt down the front, sleeves dipped in butter, vomited on by cats, shed on by cats, kneaded by cats... it's gone Haloween Sad

On the other hand, it was only about a fiver from Tesco, or somewhere like that, and I never liked it. Halloween Blush

I've had a torrid time recently and have decided, as a proper adult, I can allow myself to get a proper dressing gown - i.e. one that costs more than a fiver, and which I actually like.

But I've been googling, and I don't think what I want exists. What I want is a patchwork dressing gown - like Mr. Bagginses here - but full-length, proper silk-velvet, lined, and woman-shaped.

Has anyone come across such a thing?

Not patchwork, but there are some lovely embroidered ones here: etsy.me/31J5iGG
Uzbek fabric seems to feature heavily in this area!
This one is lovely colours but everything seems to be flimsy floaty silk rather than heavy warm silk velvet etsy.me/3dWKWia

Warmth is most definitely a consideration - stone house, thick walls, up north. Flimsy doesn't cut it!

@justaweeone

A local dressmaker could easily make one
erm, stupid question, but any recommendations?

They are nice - I bought my mother one of the street map scarves. But I would perish of cold in one of the gowns.

I've a feeling the original is by Daniel Hanson. He made various robes for Elton John and also sells at Harrods. He's no longer with us unfortunately. His work sells for many thousands!

Talipesmum · 26/10/2020 15:56

You’d have to buy about six of them and wear them all at once, with a jumper underneath.

hmmph.

From a starting position of 'Bag Lady', I am aiming for a more AbFab Edina look as I get older, not Ena Sharples.

If you're looking for warmth, I have a full length cashmere one. M&S do them every Christmas for around £200. It will last you years.

"Daniel Hanson is the sistine chapel of dressing gowns..."

I may have to go and have a scream...

OK, so this is the frontrunner so far, but I'm having collywobbles looking at the reviews. It's going to be a right pain in the arse to fix if it turns up a foot too short, or 4" too small around the top.
