How many autumn /winter coats do you own ?

simplyted · 10/10/2020 09:49

I have 5
A black padded parka from Zara
A black faux fur coat
A cream teddy coat
A black aviator coat
A beige leather trench
I feel like I don't have enough coats and I get bored.
I'm on the look out for a nice light grey wool coat but I can't find any I love.
I want a one that is not too long and semi dressy.

I have a black lightweight puffer jacket, a grey waterproof coat from Seasalt, a navy Joules duffle coat and a black warm winter coat from Hollister that I have just bought and can’t wait to wear. I love autumn/ winter clothes.
I haven’t worn coats as much as I usually would as not going out that much !

DelphineWalsh · 10/10/2020 10:35

Black leather jacket
Red wool duffel
Navy parka
Down gilet
Windproof soft shell
Waterproof

pilort · 10/10/2020 10:37

Duvet/puffer
Black wool
3 x faux fur
trench

I want a beige coat & a new padded one.

pilort · 10/10/2020 10:38

oh & I have a rain mac

InTheLongGrass · 10/10/2020 10:39

Err, 2.
One waterproof does everything, one wool for when I need to look smart whilst freezing my ass off.

OhTheRoses · 10/10/2020 10:39

Grey casual hooded jacket
Grey wool Nicole Farhi smart coat (old)
Black wool coat from M&S
Burberry raincoat (bought 1984!)
Black Basler down coat
Velvet evening coat
Beaded evening coat

Had planned to replace both the Nicole Fargo and Basler coats this year but won't as I am only going to work two days a week and we we aren't going out socialising due to Covid. If I saw something that blew me away I'd probably buy it.

Not one of my coats owes me a penny.

TeddyIsaHe · 10/10/2020 10:39

A padded White Company short jacket
French Connection leather jacket (not really ‘winter’ as such but big enough for jumpers underneath
A thin Barbour for non-rainy days
Wax Barbour
A back wool coat for work
Long camel wool coat for work
Dogtooth blazer coat for work
Didricksons waterproof for when it’s pissing it down on the nursery run.

3

Ibreally don't like wearing coats and don't spend much time outside tbh! I never understand when I see people driving in coats. It's so restrictive and hot!

If I'm going to be in and out of shops and the car for example in town I'd probably not wear a coat unless it was very cold.

Plussizejumpsuit · 10/10/2020 10:48

I do have various thick cardigans and other lightweight jackets I ware instead.

Ninkanink · 10/10/2020 10:53

Olive green quilted, Barbour
Navy blue quilted, Barbour
Black quilted, Barbour
Leather jacket, Moss Green, Jigsaw
Leather jacket, burnt orange, Muubaa
Tweed blazer, Joules
Dark blue trench coat, Baukjen
Beige trench coat, Ralph Lauren
Black/camel/purple wool coat, Jaeger
Deep red wool coat, Jaeger
Leopard print wool coat, Topshop
Navy wool coat, Jigsaw
Yellow faux suede biker jacket, New Look

I think that’s all of them.

I had many more but did a big clear out last year.

Ninkanink · 10/10/2020 10:54

Oh, I’m planning to get a waxed jacket this winter.

Ninkanink · 10/10/2020 10:55

Oh and a wool military coat in olive!

FlyingByTheSeatof · 10/10/2020 11:04

Padded coat for freezing days
Rain coat with zipped in fleece
Denim jacket
Leather jacket
Black jacket
Green padded jacket
Another thicker dark green padded jacket
Smart black long wool coat
Grey coatigan I leave in the car
Cream gillet

Seems like a lot but I wear them all for different occasions and weather

I do tend to wear my basic raincoat the most, the outer layer, my go to grab.

OhRosalind · 10/10/2020 11:08

Lots! Most of them I’ve had for years and they all serve different purposes so I don’t think it’s too many. They’re a lot more timeless than many other items. Also I spend so much time in them that I feel I get my money’s worth.

Black leather jacket
Oversized grey wool blazer coat
Black trench
Black fake fur coat
Leopard fake fur coat
Navy pea coat
Brown belted wool coat
Navy Puffer
Khaki parka

My black wool coat has been attacked by moths so I’m looking to replace that as it’s so versatile. And I’d like a checked coat this year.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/10/2020 11:28

I've got:
A yellow lightweight waterproof
3 leather bikers
A khaki jacket, camo jacket and denim jacket
Trench
Parka
Peacoat
Long bright wool coat

My gap is a sensible knee length black waterproof. I'm thinking of splurging on a Seasalt one.

gindinner · 10/10/2020 11:41

I have three black leather jackets, one off white leather jacket, one brown suede jacket - all bikers, and I am looking for a leather blazer
One sheepskin aviator jacket,
One Camel wool long belted coat
One black wool long belted coat
One long camel teddy coat
One. Short black faux fur jacket
TNF black parka, which looks like a school coat so hardly wear it and thinking of giving it to my daughter and replacing

gindinner · 10/10/2020 11:42

Oh and a khaki slacker, denim jacket, navy jersey blazer and black blazer, black velvet blazer

gindinner · 10/10/2020 11:42

Khaki Shacket...

LeanishMachine · 10/10/2020 11:43

Too many because of the ridiculous and impossible search for one that is warm and waterproof as well as stylish. I really only wear the SeaSalt one, which really isn't stylish but just does the job so much better than the smart wool coat or the more fashionable jackets.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/10/2020 11:45

Leanish - which Seasalt one do you have?

justanotherneighinparadise · 10/10/2020 11:52

Oh gosh I have a lot of coats and was still looking last night!

Black trench coat - Esprit
Green padded down coat - Esprit
Pink oversized wool coat - Oasis
Black checked swing coat - Zara
Blue fit and flare military style coat - Dorothy Perkins
Grey pea coat with duffle style buttons- F&F
Black faux leather biker jacket - Atmosphere
Red walking coat
Black puffball style mac - Miss Selfridge
Black and white dotty raincoat - F&F
Navy, sheepskin lined parka style coat - Boden

I’m sure I have more 🤦🏻‍♀️

KateCantab · 10/10/2020 12:16

I have 11 coats (not including jackets).

Iamthewombat · 10/10/2020 12:20

More than 20. Oh the shame. However, for six months of the year that is what most people see you in so that is what I tell myself.

My weakness is buying good labels in sales.

TheChosenTwo · 10/10/2020 12:37

I think 5? Just bought myself a waxy Barbour which I love.
In general though, I hate spending money on costs - I walk a lot so definitely need one but if I’m going ‘out’ I’ll either drive or get a taxi to the destination and then the coat comes straight off - what a waste of money (to me, one of my dds owns about 20 coats Grin )!

ballroompink · 10/10/2020 12:54

Barbour Beaufort for wet outdoorsy walks
Seasalt Long Seafolly (green) for smarter wet days
Tweed jacket I've had for years that still gets a lot of wear when it's not too cold
Red wool coat from Hobbs for general dry winter day wear. Had it for years and am going to get a new wool coat this year
Long black wool coat from H&M that I've had since 2003 and literally never wear as it's ankle length and just not that practical but also can't bring myself to get rid of Grin
