Meant to add that I looked at the Arran Aromatics one but for a brand that has so many different products, why is the vast majority of the calendar shampoo/condition/lotion/body wash? It looks more like an advent calendar of freebies you get at a hotel. A shame as if it had more variety then it would have been a contender.

That's exactly what it did look like! I opened it all up and lined everything up like a child (as you do!) and it totally looked like the low to medium budget hotel shampoo you get with metal tops. I was quite disappointed, however it was only £40 and a free Discovery set too so no harm done. I would NOT recommend it or buy it next year though.

There are quite a few Lumene products on TK Maxx for anyone who is interested.

Thank you for the link to the Cosmetopia video. It was so good that I’m rather regretting buying any advent calendars at all!

Yes thanks for the nightmare advent calendar link! I’d never heard of her or any of the beauty bloggers mentioned as I don’t follow or watch any. One part of that video had me laughing - about how many pots of a certain cleanser she had from beauty boxes and calendars. I can relate. She made some v good points.

She is so right. If I see an Eve Lom cleanser, Eyeko black eyeliner or mascara, Lord and Berry, Nars Orgasm Blusher, Huda Beauty Obsessions palette, This Works Deep Sleep Spray or Omor Hungarian Mist in an advent calendar it is an automatic pass.

Yes the same products seem to appear again and again. Last year I got the Aveda hair repair in both the M&S advent calendar and the Harvey Nichols GWP but this year I'll be seeking it on the swap threads!

I do think it strange they put the same palettes in especially. You could use more than one mascara within a year but if you've got the topaz obsessions palette then you isn't need another.

Yes, I have two of those palettes rattling around and really didn't want another. I haven't even opened the ones I have. My daughter loves the Deep Sleep spray so I actually bought a full size one for her Christmas stocking this year. I can't believe I did that when they give the blasted things away.😂

I’ve got several Hungarian Mists from last year and a beauty box and I don’t even get what’s it meant for! I’m trying to use one of them up right now while I remember.

Yep,I have a fair few bits where I have no idea what they're for. Snake oil, anyone? My husband says the clue is in the name

😂🤣 Your DH could have a point. I had a tiny little bottle of Snake serum but it didn't seem to do much to my face. It looked quite posh and luxurious though.

I like NARS blushers but the lady in the video above is right - there is a big issue with some of their packaging! I had to throw away an eyeshadow that I’d only worn a few times because the compact became sticky and it was impossible to get it back to normal. My blushers have been fine though.

I love Nars blushes but it's always the same colour - orgasm - as if they don't do any other colour. Many make up lovers will already have that colour so why don't they mix it up??

Ha this is exactly the same as me - I have 3, it’s the gold one I’m currently using, and yes I spritz my face after moisturising (and again at other times if I remember) purely to use it up.

I would certainly be interested in a swap to get someone’s unwanted Hudra Beauty obsessions palatte however. My DD would love one.

Shall we start a swap thread now? There are things I know I want and we will be starting to acquire items from GWPs and for anyone who has already opened their calendars

I would be in favour of starting a swap thread now. Though it might help if we said posters should not mention where the item's from (as in which calendar or box) so it doesn't inadvertently spoil things for anyone else.

I've got a few items from the Harvey Nicks GWP I'd be up for swapping now.

Agree with all the repeats, I’ve also got loads of Susanne Kaufmann oils that I’m not that keen on. There’s always a black eyeliner too...
still in the look out fir a 2nd or a GWP.
