Been lurking on these threads and now need some advice please I want to get a calendar for my friend’s 50th. Will be getting her a keepsake gift too. Budget is £150 and I fancied LF but it’s sold out. Am looking at Fenwick or maybe John Lewis but can anyone recommend what’s the best? My friend wears some makeup and likes naice skin and hair care so I’d like a mixture of each. Any recommendations most gratefully received. Thanks

I’ve had Elle, Birchbox, Debenhams, M&S but am giving it a rest this year (just bought H&B for DD) as have too many small things to use up,

Funnily enough, I've bought the JL one for a friend's 60th. I've had it for the last two years, and loved it.

My Fenwick one arrived yesterday in such an unnecessarily tall box, you’d think it was a piece of furniture rather than an advent calendar.

The outside of the calendar is absolutely beautiful. I’ve forgotten what’s in it so am looking forward to being surprised.

Pom It was £35 or £39 which I think was a good price

I want to have a look through Etsy as there were others but this one was a on a (Red?) article about stationary calendars

I really like the look of the JL one but I think Fenwick looks a bit more special and it comes with an additional gift which she could keep or gift even. The box looks much more gorgeous than the JL or Elle one too.

Now Ive got to wait to time it right for her birthday and pray the chosen one doesn't sell out!!!!

The M&S beauty box looks very boring so I will be giving that a miss. It seems to be full of the usual filler products of the advent calendar.

shinny i ordered LF for myself (as well as H&B) but the other one I had my eye in was Elle. There are some good posts and videos showing what's in them - since it's not for you there's no problem with ruining the surprise so I'd just have look up what's in them and which one you think she'd like / best value for money

Sunshine I'd go for a stationary calendar too but they often seem to be expensive for what they are eg Paperchase and Kikki K

I'm bemused too! Just glanced through Ebay and there are loads of Liberty calendars for sale, but they're still in stock at Liberty for £215. Harrods too. The world's gone mad!

They’re hoping that people will assume they’ve sold out and fall for it? Or they’re prepared to ship to countries that otherwise can’t get hold of them?

Are there any Advent calendars that are just perfume? That's what I would love, even if it's just a tiny sample every day, or not the full 24 days. Ideally it would be different brands though so I'm guessing it doesn't exist. The only ones mentioned on here are Jo Malone and Arran.
Any others?
Like if the perfume shop had one that would be a dream for me.

I'm v glad that Liberty is still available - it's my fallback if Cult Beauty fails tomorrow!!

It is tomorrow isn't it? I'm not allowed my phone at work, but planning on breaking the rules just this once...

There aren't. The best option would be to buy a couple of discovery boxes from The Perfume Society. They have mixed boxes of niche scents available. If you have an empty advent calendar you could ask a friend or family member to fill it for you (and to make sure they save the best for the final window)perfumesociety.org/product/the-niche-collection-v-discovery-box/

I want to join in on this thread but I know I wouldn't use a quarter of any of the Advent calendars (the Dior is the most tempting but still not really me). Not into beauty, not really into make up, love perfume and will always use it somehow even if it's in the car/at work/around the house.

RayCurious I'm glad to help. I've bought a few of the Perfume Society boxes and have really enjoyed them. They'd probably work better for you than a beauty advent if you just want scent. I told them to cancel the order, if I get cancellation confirmation I will order it using UK address
