I just ordered the Liberty calender. I have wanted it for years. Just informed DH he has bought my combined birthday and Christmas present today.

TheQuietWoman · 07/10/2020 12:06

Mia I'm in Belfast and my first order was cancelled....the second seems to have gone through ok!!

frogface69 · 07/10/2020 12:38

No word from H&B yet. 😡

BookSkark · 07/10/2020 12:43

I have so much fear of missing out with Cult Beauty! But I really can't justify two luxury advent calendars, especially as I got the Harvey Nichols GWP as well - that plus the Net A Porter calendar will keep me going for months.

I'm not promising I won't get sucked in to another GWP if a good one comes up though...Grin

foilflower · 07/10/2020 12:53

Good luck with H&B. I ordered something that was on a thread here earlier in the year and it never turned up. Was fobbed off and then weeks later they said it was lost in their warehouse. Was promised a refund, didn’t get it. Luckily I’d paid through PayPal so I said I’d claim the money back through them if they didn’t refund and I got it back quickly then.

g1c2d3 · 07/10/2020 12:57

Does anyone know why the lookfantastic website shows the prices in euros rather than pounds? I am in England. I am sure it wasn’t like that before.

BurningTheToast · 07/10/2020 12:59

Student son is very picky about grooming - can anyone recommend a suitable calendar for men? I saw the Liberty men's one but £195 is too steep!

LoveEatYoga · 07/10/2020 13:16

This gives a good overview of the men's ones

I'm not sure DH would appreciate a grooming one so I might just get him a Milkybar one Grin

You can get beer ones too!

CountryCob · 07/10/2020 13:27

@clary ASOS has a 12 day male grooming calendar....

ajandjjmum · 07/10/2020 13:46

I got the ASOS one for DS last year - he was thrilled. Genuinely! Grin

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 07/10/2020 13:52

ochon
that's a shame, hope you enjoy your stash when it arrived though!

clary I know what you mean, I am determined not to just hoard my things this time and actually use them.

Twisique · 07/10/2020 14:17

I have Rituals, am waiting for H&B and will get Boots soon for DD.

Will we have a thread for each one? I hope we do!

TawnyPippit · 07/10/2020 14:22

I got a customer services email from Liberty. Looks like they were having a bit of a mare. They said if you ordered a second time and hadn’t had a cancellation you should be ok.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 07/10/2020 14:27

I wonder how many companies watch threads like these and think "Holy cow, our website is going to explode" Grin

chloechloe · 07/10/2020 15:09

Langshiplands I went for Look Fantastic, Liberty and Lumene, which I had never heard of before but got totally talked into by this thread! In my defence I don’t buy anything else during the year though - with 3 little ones and work I never get round to shopping for myself.

It was a tough call between Liberty and Cult Beauty - I was a bit worried about CB selling out really fast meaning I’d be left with neither that nor Liberty. CB does have really good GWPs during the year though so I may get a couple of bits that I liked in the calendar when that comes round.

mia I ordered Liberty from outside the UK and it hasn’t been cancelled as yet.

carolebaskinfedhimtothetigers · 07/10/2020 15:19

My DP isn't into grooming but insists he wants some sort of calendar. He had a build a radio one last year which never got finished so he doesn't want one like that again and likes the look of the Brewdog one but at £50 you could buy 24 cans for less than that in the shop when they are on offer! So I've decided I'm going to make him a beer one myself. I'm going to order 24 brown paper gift bags and fill with different beers. I will probably do 12 days of cheaper/repeated things e.g. a 6 pack of estrella dotted about and then 12 days of naice beer from Booths with maybe a bottle of wine for the last day (or gin if I'm struggling to find him Xmas presents Grin)
Just a thought for anyone with alcohol loving partners/sons!

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 07/10/2020 15:23

chloe that's a really nice mix ...I'll keep my eye on CB gifts w/purchase and maybe start saving now to definitely no matter what else distracts me, buy the calendar next year.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 07/10/2020 15:25

carole Beer 52 and Flavourly have quite a few flash sales so could be worth looking up? Then just wrap them. Like the idea of a DIY beer calendar!

Yes, brilliant idea! If you've never signed up for Beer52 or Flavourly then they do new customer offers where you just pay postage on the first case etc. You do have to remember to cancel the subscriptions though! Honest Brew are also worth a look.
BurningTheToast · 07/10/2020 15:35

Thanks for the tips - DS has the Next men's grooming one on its way to him and I've ordered the Brewdog one for DH. I do have the Look Fantastic one on the way for me, but I'm soooo tempted by Cult Beauty...

Never heard of either of these (never really buy alcohol online) so thanks for the tips!!
Housewife2010 · 07/10/2020 17:07

The Glossybox Advent Calendar has now sold out.

MountainDweller · 07/10/2020 17:22

Thanks @chloechloe and you are right, the free delivery does make up a little bit for the 10% mark up. I did email Liberty after my initial strop and got a surprisingly fast reply that said that's just the way the system works, they have no control over calculating the exchange rate and most people want to buy in their local currency.

Sorry all for being grumpy on your lovely thread!

Anyway I did buy the Liberty one in the end... missed the morning cancellation drama and my order went straight through at lunchtime. Was glad that by waiting I got the chance to check the contents of CB and make a thorough comparison! Got a great GWP from CB earlier this year though.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 07/10/2020 17:31

I think I might be able to resist Cult if I knew that Debenhams will be doing one? Hmm

Dailyhandtowelwash · 07/10/2020 17:35

I am holding fast for Diptyque which is next week I think.
