I hope you love it, uselesscat!

SOTD Liz Earle 15.

Bee0808 · 01/02/2021 10:09

Sotd 4160 temptation

MissBattleaxe · 01/02/2021 11:05

That sounds like my worst nightmare missb 😁

Ha! Ha! The nice thing about perfume is that you're never wrong. I tried Mugler Womanity once and it was so bad I retched, but I have another friend who loved its milky, fig notes. There's room for all tastes!

MrsBerthaRochester · 01/02/2021 11:45

Womanity makes me feel ill. I cannot stand salt notes in perfume. Paco rabanne Olympea gets the same reaction.
Sotd is Valentino voce viva. I love the ginger note in it.

Bee0808 · 01/02/2021 12:06

The only CK perfume I like is obsession.
4160 monkey unicorn made me retch 🤮 wet moldy hay
Bluergh

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/02/2021 12:25

I loved Womanity - it's been discontinued, hasn't it?

SOTD Byredo Bibliotheque.

God, it's COLD.

teta · 01/02/2021 12:41

I hated Womanity, but coveted the bottle with all its hardware. I think mine was the sweeter version and the combination of salt and lots of sugar was horrible. I do really enjoy slightly salted perfumes though. Malle's Un Lys Mediterrannee - salty sea breeze & lilies is stunning.

Thank you @Cat that's so very kind 🌹.
I think you used you used to post regularly on this thread, many moons ago didn't you?

Sotd is Vintage Paris, as I was inspired by your Rose & Violet perfume MissBattleaxe. I'm enjoying the soapy Sandalwood drydown.

@teta what a beautiful choice! I love Paris, it's a masterpiece.

I don't mind a salty note. Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt is an example of a great salty note, but Womanity smelled like unwashed mermaids knickers, if mermaids wore knickers, that is.

QueenPawPaws · 01/02/2021 15:01

I adore womanity and olympea so if you have anything else that makes you gag, please recommend it to me Grin

MissBattleaxe · 01/02/2021 15:39

@QueenPawPaws ELDO Secretions Magnifique?

QueenPawPaws · 01/02/2021 15:42

@MissBattleaxe I haven't tried yet! It's on my list to sample
I have eldo eau de protection which is NOT my scent at all but I love it

Bee0808 · 01/02/2021 15:42

Omg imagine?
No pants, no periods, free clam bra and you can lure men to their death...
🧜‍♀️

teta · 01/02/2021 16:04

I spilt Secretions Magnifique on my bathroom floor once and could smell it for weeks - yuk!
I think I gave the remaining discovery kit away to someone on Fragantica as I couldn't bring myself to test the rest.

The only other really unpleasant perfume I've received is one of the January Scent Project Perfumes. I received the discovery kit and one had leaked. It was all-pervasive and I had to quarantine it in my bin as it was unpleasantly foul. In fact I really strongly disliked them all .

MissBattleaxe · 01/02/2021 19:34

@QueenPawPaws it's definitely not a blind buy! It smells like semen, blood and milk and it's actually supposed to smell like that. Ick.

@teta You poor thing. Of all the perfumes you could spill!

QueenPawPaws · 01/02/2021 19:38

Another weird perfume I love is l'artizan dzing. Managed to find it at TK maxx for £30!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/02/2021 19:53

I had to get DP to put my sample of SM in the outside bin. It properly made my eyes water. I should have got him to sneak it in one of the neighbours’ bins it was so rank.

I do also like JM Wood Sage and Sea Salt - I have the perfume and matching body cream.

thecatfromjapan · 01/02/2021 21:18

teta I did.

I went away for a bit & feel a bit of an interloper.

But since I've somehow barged in, I'll say that I'm wearing Miller Harris 'Rose Silence'. Rose is such a dependable lifter-of-spirits.

Boglins · 01/02/2021 22:28

Paris works really well on my skin but I have to be in the mood for it as I find violet a bit sickly sometimes.

I've been doing something I never do and wearing the same scent repeatedly in a bid to use up some of my samples. Have seen off AdP Sakura this week and have almost finished Chanel Gabrielle.

Apologies for prolonged absence again, still have nothing to say! Although, birthday coming up and could do with some ideas for gifts as I can't currently think of anything I want/need!

1frenchfoodie · 01/02/2021 23:58

SOTD Histores de Parfums Prolixe, delicious warm, waxy scent, like a comforting hug. Dont think I have ever disagreed more with the Fragrantica scent pyramid (grapefruit, pineapple, cassis??).

Trying not to hyperventilate here at thought of move back to the UK this summer with my 5yo (tbc by May, effective Aug i.e. all way after application deadlines) and school application without being able to visit schools, househunt etc.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/02/2021 10:25

SOTD MMM By the Fireplace

QueenPawPaws · 02/02/2021 11:09

SOTD dzing

MissBattleaxe · 02/02/2021 14:16

@Bee0808 I would LOVE a free clam bra!

@1frenchfoodie that sounds like a real handful! Hope it all goes well for you.

@QueenPawPaws is that the one that smells like a circus? If so, I like it!

MissBattleaxe · 02/02/2021 14:16

SOTD First by Van Cleef and Arpels. An old favourite.

QueenPawPaws · 02/02/2021 14:35

@MissBattleaxe yes! I hate the opening, elephant dung. But the hay scent.., beautiful
I never find an appropriate occasions for it, it's not a work perfume or a night out. So wearing it while WFH

teta · 02/02/2021 14:57

Yes @CatFromJapan I find Rose soothing & comforting and yes .... ultimately uplifting.I possess many Roses but I've never sampled Rose Silence - intrigued!

Sotd is Profumum Roma's Neroli. This has Myrrh in it, so it's slightly bittersweet, which I adore. I have a new body wash - orange & Grapefruit so I'm probably going to stay on a theme. I'm also desperately trying to find my decant of P.R's Battito d Ali - scented orange blossom pastry with Myrrh.

I have a soft spot for the Mermaid Barbie. It was the only Barbie out of about 20 we had, dd1 played with. The rest of the time she acted like a dog, or played with her animals. Just as well she's a 3rd year Vet now & dd2 was very girly.
