Oh I didn't like the FS Ylang Ylang but I don't remember why. I only remember as I don't like any Floral Street ones but kept trying Hmmon the Feel Unique sample service.

teta · 10/11/2020 19:41

Sotd is Amouage Lyric. It's beautiful and I love everything about it. Its the only good thing about this day. So far I've fought with dd2, dh has shouted at me about car repairs ( that would be cos. the cars old) & ds2 accusing me of stomping around upstairs and making the chandelier wobble from side to side. And I'm on a no alcohol week 😭
@Floofy I'm another one that persists with samples & brands. I'm in awe of the Facebook perfume sites where they seem to think samples are a waste of money and buy big bottles of v.expensive niche perfumes at the drop of a hat.

Have pmd you floofy

I think I might have a bath

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/11/2020 23:26

Well, I want to tell floofy I am in Heeley Sel Marin, all sunshiney. But really SOTD is Diptyque Eau Duelle.

Glad you are okay, shrill . 💐

Shrillharridan · 11/11/2020 07:48

I'm going to admit an attack of the horrors too floofy at Judy's summer scents in winter 😬😅
Whatever gets you through though 💜
I'm considering another diptique candle at the end of the month...musk or Amber?
Hmmmm
Sotd will be something cosy so probably pp by the fireplace
I'm very excited to try mmm replica coffee break...anyone tried it?

Shrillharridan · 11/11/2020 07:49

Thanks judy

teta · 11/11/2020 09:36

The Mm sounds interesting @Shrill. Diptyque candles are beautiful and worth the money I think. Those scents sound very comforting.

Sotd is Amouage Jubilation. I was expecting it to be a powerhouse but it's just not. Apparently many are EDT strength. I got lost down a Luca Turin shaped rabbit hole last night reading up on Amouages.

SOTD Palo Santo from Carner, one of my recent samples. It reminds me very much of MMM Jazz Club, but without the tobacco. That's not a good thing. It's just sweet & vanilla-y.
I really dislike the smell of coffee, so Coffee Break is probably not for me!

Benjispruce2 · 11/11/2020 16:13

I’m all for wearing whatever perfume you like at any time of year. Apart from lighter colognes being refreshing in the heat, if you like a smell, you like a smell. Many people have a signature scent that they always wear.

Benjispruce2 · 11/11/2020 16:13

Sotd rose cologne(just to give you the horrors)Grin

riotlady · 11/11/2020 16:31

SOTD is Romance by Ralph Lauren. I got given it as a gift and haven't really worn it much... eh. It smells like generic chemical-y flowers to me.

1frenchfoodie · 11/11/2020 16:43

SOTG Comme des Garçons x Monocle Sugi, lemon cypress deliciousness with, sadly, terrible longevity on me. It is normally a summery scent for me but works for a crisp cool day too.

KateMAB · 11/11/2020 17:02

Hi can I join, I'm starting to build up a selection of samples based on popular scents on here. Perfume is an evening and weekend thing for me as I work with children who have severe ASD/ALN so I avoid having a "smell" at work as one child is particularly sensitive to smells.

My sample of By the Fire Place arrived today so I've had a little squirt and love it.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 11/11/2020 18:51

SOTD MMM Lazy Sunday Morning - I am really going for it on the rule breaks this week! Ended up in bed with a migraine this afternoon, urgh.

Hi, kate welcome - I hope you have deep pockets!

PearsMorgan · 12/11/2020 08:40

I’m down with summer scents in winter. I went for Le Pamplemousse during that cold snap last week. Today I bow to convention in Beyond Rose. I think maybe summer scents are usually good in winter but the reverse isn’t true?

Yesterday I tried a sample of Avon Maxima which reinforced my belief that peach does not belong in perfume, but PM me if you beg to differ and would like a little present.

teta · 12/11/2020 09:43

Amouage vintage gold extract is Sotd again. It's meant to be very reminiscent of the vintage Chanel no 5 and is a category 5 perfume by Luca Turin. Once it softens and warms and the aldehydes burn off its absolutely beautiful, if a little grande dame for wearing during the day.
I've never seen the appeal of Chanel no 5 but if it smelt like this - I can.
Or else I've grown into it ☺️

I often wear summer perfumes in cooler weather. Particularly heady florals and Rose perfumes. Neroli's, Lavender's and Rose's can be worn in any season. Cool Green's are a little more tricky.

I had a lovely package of samples arrive today so the sent of the evening is Jo Malone Bronze wood and leather, which is lush the leather tones are really coming through

Benjispruce2 · 12/11/2020 17:22

Sotd Jenny Glow C1X(Chanel 19)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/11/2020 20:28

SOTD M&G Dark Rum.

FloraMacDonald · 13/11/2020 09:07

SOTD Lonestar Memories - Tauer. Love this! It's smoky & leathery - shrill have you tried this? It might be your sort of thing.
From fragrantica:
"The scent of a lonesome rider, wearing old jeans and leather jacket, after a long day on the horse in the dry woods, preparing his coffee on the open, smoky fire."
Fortunately, it doesn't smell of horse. Grin

Shrillharridan · 13/11/2020 10:33

Yes, I have lonestar memories;)
Its lovely. Not one I reach for often though. I might put it on today!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/11/2020 11:27

I sold my Lonestar Memories because I very rarely wore it. It is lovely though!

SOTD JHAG Mad Madame.

KateMAB · 13/11/2020 19:42

Sotd Au cours de désert, love it, may have to track down lonestar memories as well, sounds right up my street

FloraMacDonald · 14/11/2020 08:28

I've changed my mind about Lonestar Memories. It had an odd note after a few hours. A bit like Orange Star & l'Air des Alpes Suisse, but not quite so bad.

teta · 14/11/2020 10:26

I find many Tauer scents challenging. That said I love Carillon pour Ange with its nuclear silage. One sample has lasted me two years 😁. @Judystilldreamsofhorses you have a bottle og this don't you? Someone gave me one of the old beautiful glass bauble filled bottles a few years with some Rose Chypre in it but I must have swopped it away.
Sotd is vintage private collection. Much better than Amouage Myths, which is an inferior homage to this. Wore Amouage Lyric yesterday and it felt like being suffocated with cinammon, rose & incense. Note to self: do not wear with a headache.
