Has anyone started Dermatica lately?

I've just signed up for Dermatica and the site says my pictures are awaiting review. I ended up googling and saw lots of awful reviews saying it was taking weeks for this to happen and customer service take forever to respond to emails. This has worried me a bit. Has anyone had any success signing up lately? How long did it take to receive your prescription?

I started in June and haven’t had any issues but wonder if they are a victim of their own success. My first prescription probably took under a week to come and that was partly as I was asking questions, all of which were answered to my satisfaction. I have adjusted the frequency a few times and the new tube always comes when it should. I’ve recently had a three month follow up, happy with that too.

Skin and Me run a very similar service, not sure if they are more consistent.

princessbear80 · 30/09/2020 10:38

I’ve had similar experience as the pp. I’ve also recommended two friends who have signed up within the last couple of weeks and both received their cream within a week of adding their photos.

I dont know about Dermatica but I am on my third month with Skin and Me and am thrilled with the service and results.

PineappleCheesecake · 30/09/2020 10:48

That's good to know thanks. Hopefully it won't take too long for them to review. I'm concerned as I've been using differin (from Boots) and my skin isn't too bad at the moment but I want to switch to tret for my wrinkles as well as acne. I'm hoping they don't refuse me.

SmallYappy I was looking at Skin + Me also. What did they prescribe for you?

I started about 5 weeks ago, pictured were reviewed in a day and prescription took about 5 days to arrive which I was impressed with.

Ohwhocares22 · 30/09/2020 16:07

I registered and uploaded my pictures on Sunday. My first delivery arrived today Smile

PineappleCheesecake · 30/09/2020 17:40

Glad to hear of the good experiences. I've been checking all day but mine is still pending. Hopefully it will get processed tomorrow!

Mine got approved and dispatched after a few days of me uploading the photos. I can't wait to start it. Fingers crossed yours is sorted soon

Cassavaflower · 30/09/2020 18:12

Mine never arrived. I sent a lot of messages then they sent another package but it put me off.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 30/09/2020 21:07

I've been very happy with the service. I recently requested to extend the gap between deliveries and they responded immediately and sorted it for me.

I started 3 month ago & am happy with improvement so far.

PineappleCheesecake · 01/10/2020 10:26

Did everyone here get the prescription they were hoping for?

Just been approved! Tretinoin 0.025% / Niacinamide 4% / Azelaic Acid 15%

Mine arrived two weeks ago within a week of my application

redferrari · 01/10/2020 15:53

Is this by professional dermatologists? I am very eager to try it out but do you have to use only their products or can you mix and match with your own cleansers or moisturizers and only use the retinol from dermatica?

FizzyPink · 01/10/2020 15:58

Ooohhh I’m very interested in this. DP has lots of acne scarring on his back and has tried all kinds of creams that don’t seem to do much.
Dermatica seems very reasonable if it works

NamedyChangedy · 02/10/2020 17:42

I've only had positive experiences with Dermatica - I've been using them about a year and my skin is transformed. They've tweaked my prescription a couple of times and have always been very responsive when I've had questions. I know there were some delays over summer though, so maybe they were over-subscribed.

PineappleCheesecake · 02/10/2020 18:03

Glad to hear of the positive experiences. Mine got sent out today so I'm hoping to get it tomorrow. The plan says that the prescription won't change. I was hoping they would increase the tret eventually. Can I ask them to?

I just started! I signed up on Saturday and received my prescription on the next Tuesday, which I thought was pretty good.

I’m on Tretinoin 0.025% / Azelaic Acid 15% / Niacinamide 4%. From what I’ve read, you’re meant to pare back and use only the treatment, a gentle cleanser, moisturiser and SPF. So, I’ve dropped most of my skin routine. It feels VERY odd, particularly as tret is so drying, and I’m worried about damaging my moisture barrier. However, nothing to report yet (it’s only been a few days), so fingers crossed.

I will say that their customer service isn’t fantastic, though. I had a bunch of questions and they didn’t seem able to answer them, which is a bit irritating.

NamedyChangedy · 02/10/2020 22:03

Yes, they will adapt your prescription over time if it's needed, but with tret it's recommended that you build up slowly over time. They've just moved me up to 0.1% but I've had a long time to get used to it so don't anticipate any sensitivity. I started on adapalene for a few months, then a low concentration of tret and haven't had any purging /irritation etc.

shivermetimbers77 · 02/10/2020 22:08

Just to warn you they will prob put you up to 0.05 on the Tretinoin automatically after 1 month. I had to ask to be put back down to 0.025 as I wasn’t ready after a month.

cloud1183 · 03/10/2020 09:22

I love it. I’m on adapalene, niacinamide and clindamycin for acne and it’s cleared my skin up so much. Still get some spots but nowhere near as many as before the treatment. My skin is very good aside from the spots but I have noticed it is drier now and my normal products sting a bit after I’ve used it for more than 3 consecutive days so I do have some breaks with it when that happens.

I never used to bother much with hydrating products as my skin was always on the oily side but I have had to invest in some moisturisers and an hyaloronic acid now

trumpisaflump · 03/10/2020 12:17

I started it last month and have found the service really good. All prescribed by dermatologists or pharmacists

OperationallySound · 03/10/2020 12:18

I just buy it directly from a pharmacy in Andorra. Much less faff.

PineappleCheesecake · 03/10/2020 12:29

It has arrived! Grin

I started mine just over a week ago. I uploaded my photos on the Monday, and my prescription arrived on the Friday. I have Tretinoin 0.025%, niacinamide and clindamycin, I specified that I wanted to focus on anti-aging, as well as targeting mild adult acne.

It's obviously too soon to tell, and I don't expect any real results in the first couple of months, however I do think that the spots I have had (chin/jawline, get them every single month) have cleared up much quicker than usual. Maybe it's coincidence, but perhaps not!
