Has anyone started Dermatica lately?

I've just signed up for Dermatica and the site says my pictures are awaiting review. I ended up googling and saw lots of awful reviews saying it was taking weeks for this to happen and customer service take forever to respond to emails. This has worried me a bit. Has anyone had any success signing up lately? How long did it take to receive your prescription?

A friend recommended it and I sent my pictures today. The website says they are taking longer than usual due to high demand but I'm hoping to hear by the end of the week.

Carrotgirl87 · 04/10/2020 21:45

Just got my third prescription, they automatically upped it month 2 to 0.05, I have to say, it's bloody brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Domino45 · 04/10/2020 22:14

I put my photos on early this evening and the prescription is ready to be dispatched. Really impressed it’s taken less than a day. Although I’m abit cautious about using adapalene again, but my skin is in such a sorry state I’ll give it a go!!

I hope the prescription comes with advice on what to apply first etc

SconNotScone · 05/10/2020 07:18

@Domino45 your prescription will come pre-mixed into one cream (so mine is tretinoin, clindamycin and niacinamine all in one), they then send guidance on following a basic regime (cleanse, wait for skin to completely dry, apply the prescription cream, wait again then apply a simple moisturiser). I also add in a toner between cleansing and applying the dermatica cream.

bingowingsmcgee · 05/10/2020 07:27

I'm delighted with mine. I think it's a great service.

Domino45 · 05/10/2020 09:56

@SconNotScone thank you!! I wasn’t too sure how it worked. An all in one cream sounds good

redferrari · 05/10/2020 12:09

Thanks, does the £20 include the products or is it only for prescriptions?

SconNotScone · 05/10/2020 16:47

@redferrari the £20 gets you the actual product. It is then a couple of £ delivery on top.

redferrari · 05/10/2020 17:21

@SconNotScone thank you!

Anotheruser02 · 05/10/2020 17:38

SconeNotScone I have the same mix of products as you, I have seen nice results in clarity and skin tone already after nearly 3 weeks. My pores are still fucking massive though Grin

FreeButtonBee · 05/10/2020 17:43

I have just started month 2. Pretty happy so far. They upped my test to 0.05% automatically but I have pretty resilient skin and am only using twice a week at the moment Skin around nose is a bit sensitised but other than that no real issues. I am going to start every other night now. I do need a bit more hydration and moisture. A facial oil which was much too strong for me last year is now working really well on my skin.

PineappleCheesecake · 05/10/2020 19:08

I've just applied for the third time and can see a tiny bit of peeling on my chin. Excited to see results.

Interesting that some of you got your tretinoin increased automatically. Mine says I have 3 months of 0.025% and then a maintenance treatment with the same amount. I was really hoping to increase.

OP posts:
Anotheruser02 · 05/10/2020 19:23

Mine is due to increase, but it doesn't list the next 3 months treatments, I logged into my dashboard bit after a couple of weeks and it gave date of next treatment being sent out and the prescription. Are you sure it wont just be same combination for three months rather than same strength? From what I have read about tret I get the impression that getting onto daily usage makes more of a difference than working up in strength.

SconNotScone · 05/10/2020 20:38

@Anotheruser02 good to hear you seem to be getting good results! (Sorry about the giant pores though!! I’m sure they aren’t that giant!)

I have been using mine for a week and a half, and have had no peeling or dryness from the tret, and I’ve been using it every night. My next delivery is going to be the same strength, according to the dashboard. I have used regular retinol products in the past without issue as well, I wonder if my skin is just fairly used to taking a beating 😂

Anotheruser02 · 05/10/2020 21:04

Maybe they took one look at my pores Scon and thought 😱 we'll get her on the strong stuff asap.

I used everyday from the start too, I'd been using niacinamide 15% serum for months and I did read before that niacinamide for a few weeks before starting a retinol helped mitigate the dryness and reaction. I haven't had a drastic reaction just ashy look peeling for a few days which has been easy to keep moist.

JonasKahnwald · 06/10/2020 21:22

They've started me on tretinoin 0.015. Thats lower than everyone else's on here. Wonder why? I want it for anti aging rather than acne maybe thats why 🤔

Anotheruser02 · 07/10/2020 17:05

Did you mention any dry or sensitive skin in your extra concerns box? That is low. I think you can ask them to adapt things if you wanted to.

Mrstwiddle · 07/10/2020 20:48

I’m on 0.015 for first month too, goes up v slightly next month. Main concern was ageing but also prone to redness

DanceWithYourBalloon · 07/10/2020 21:17

I'm gutted! Just signed up for the free trial but I'm moving to a country that they don't send it to! 😢

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 07/10/2020 22:02

I’ve signed up too, and just been prescribed 0.015% tret and 4%. Niacinamine.
I also opted for anti aging rather than acne, so maybe that’s the standard starter dosage for the anti aging option?

Where does it say what your next prescription will be? I can’t see anything like that. Or do you have to wait a few days?

LostaraYil · 08/10/2020 06:16

Mine arrived yesterday. 0.025 tretinoin and 4% hydroquinone, mainly for age spots. I put it on last night and am happy to report no redness etc this morning. I think it's reassuring that people are getting quite different prescriptions.

ChooksAndBooks · 08/10/2020 06:31

I started at the end of august and the change in my skin has been amazing! I did go through a week or two of peeling, sensitive skin, but moisturising before and after applying the cream helped a lot.

I'm on Adapalene 0.1%, Niacinamide 4%.

I just wish I'd done it sooner.

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 08/10/2020 15:28

So I’ve just received the detailed plan. I’m starting on .015% tret, then month 2 .025% then month 3 onwards is 0.05%.
The niacinamide stays at 4% though out.

I think maybe it’s because I said I suffered dry skin that’s it’s so low to start with, but happy to staircase up! Hopefully because it’s gradual there won’t be much/any irritation
