If you’ve got a shin length down coat where is it from?

I can’t seem to find very many options online. I’m looking for a down coat with a hood. Budget of up to £800. Its got to be good quality, warm enough to withstand trips to Norway. And I don’t want any flashy branding on the arm or whatever. Ideas?

Uniqlo

SpaceRaiders · 29/09/2020 13:02

I’ve found Uniqlo ones perfect for layering in mild weather but not quite warm enough as I tend to feel the cold.

rains have a limited edition non-animal insulation long coat which is waterproof, with a zip off lower level. I'd probably have bought it by now (despite the rather hefty price) if they did it in black - i've only seen it in off white and dark brown. uniqlo don't seem to be warm enough for me (and not waterproof either). i can't find the rains one on their website at the moment - it seems to come and go - but they have pics on their insta.

SpaceRaiders · 29/09/2020 13:41

I’ve just checked out that coat on insta, the model was wearing a black one, slightly too shiny for my taste but the exact length I’m after, shame it’s not online!

Try scandi brands. Arket, cos, tretorn.

gubbbbbddaaaa · 29/09/2020 14:06

Look at browns or net a Porter with that budget

Land's End. Best coat ever. Like wearing a duvet (in a good way) on the coldest of days. Keeps the wind out!

Similar to this but without the furry hood.

The one at Arket is probably the closest bet. Nothing at Browns, Net-a-Porter or Selfridges unless I go for Canada Goose or Moncler both of which have big logos on the outer arms which I don’t want. Any other suggestions?

Another vote for the Lands End Maxi. So warm.

cultkid · 29/09/2020 14:44

I have an asos one which is fab

But I've also got a moncler though I think they will be more expensive

worriedparentatgate · 29/09/2020 14:44

Wool rich is good as well

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 29/09/2020 14:48

Got a shin-length Jack Wolfskin in last year's sale and I love it.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 29/09/2020 15:26

Berghaus. Wore it in Iceland and it did the trick. It's a 'Combust', I think.

Best in mind Canada goose aren't very ethical .. a lot of more expensive brands are using synthetic filling now! 👌👌

Seasalt

MoltonSilver · 29/09/2020 17:21

Try Lululemon.

Mere1 · 29/09/2020 17:39

Rab do a very warm one that’s waterproof too.

GertieBassett · 29/09/2020 17:39

The Seasalt Janelle coat is a decent one and way under your budget at £150.

WeveGottaGetTherouxThis · 29/09/2020 17:41

Mackage might have one, although I’m not sure if I recall them having a shin-length version. Worth checking though.

FancyAnOlive · 29/09/2020 17:53

Lands End always do great coats. Also their customer service is amazing - I had a lovely light long down coat from them and after 3 years the zip broke, I rang them to ask if they offered a mending service and they said they'd replace it with a newer model or refund me fully. So it's a coat for life.

anomletteandaglassofwine · 29/09/2020 18:06

I agree with Lands End. I've worn mine in the snow in Canada and it kept my toasty.
