If you’ve got a shin length down coat where is it from?

I can’t seem to find very many options online. I’m looking for a down coat with a hood. Budget of up to £800. Its got to be good quality, warm enough to withstand trips to Norway. And I don’t want any flashy branding on the arm or whatever. Ideas?

North Face

ProperVexed · 30/09/2020 17:41

I've got a Northface parka for very cold times (watching football, sitting in bird hide) but find it too warm if I'm walking. So it should be good for you. I also have a sea salt Janelle which is ok for walking but not standing still.

TKMax, think it's a Ted Baker

Haha, I know 😁 I think I bought mine on Black Friday so I got a discount.

This one might be worth a try if the others don't work out: www.lululemon.co.uk/en-gb/p/wunder-puff-jacket-long/LW4BIYS.html

I’ve gone for that Arket one and the Canada Goose Mystique parka. Neither of which I absolutely love. I do love the Soia Kyo Rachela in Moss green, so I might bite the bullet and get that one.

I have a Nobis one from Matches (not sure if they still stock them) and LOVE it. Canadian brand so proper cosy but not too oversized

Tootletum · 30/09/2020 21:28

I have a Canada goose from 2010 with no arm logo. It's not fake they just used to do the urban range without the badge. It's shin length. Maybe I should just sell it to you!

BuggersMuddle · 01/10/2020 01:33

For performance I love Arcteryx, but would be lying if I suggested their town gear is as fashionable / stylish as a brand that's less sport oriented. I have one of their urban parkas and it's warm, does well in the wet, washes well & has a nice non-bulky cut.

Depending on your price / performance / fashion trade offs, they might be worth a look.

Some intriguing ones here

Quartz x Jane - Canadian brand. I saw one on Alpine Trek.

Americans tend to do good shin length down coats. Bloomingdales have a few at the moment.

I’ve got a knee length Canada Goose but it was bought in 2013 at Barney’s and was about £300 at the time...

I don't like the hood/collar on the Soia Kyo Rachela but the Talyse is nice (and has zips+ studs )

Wonkydonkey44 · 02/10/2020 18:59

I got mine from Tommy Hilfiger

Coronawireless · 02/10/2020 19:10

Yes you can remove the logos. I always do it.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 02/10/2020 19:41

I'm considering this one - not quite shin length, but it depends how tall you are. I find Bergans very good quality for the price, and they're built to stand up to Norwegian winters. The (faux) fur in the hood is removable and I like that it's understated but still has the slightly interesting zip etc so it's not totally anonymous.

Thanks for recommending Quartz, I’ve ordered an Innes with fur in green, it’s not shin length but I love it! Ended up sweet talking my lovely big bro to receive my coat in the post then forward it to me as they don’t actually ship here. No surprise that my order alerted the fraud team who then asked for all manner of details to confirm it was actually me who ordered this coat with a U.K. card to be delivered to an address in Quebec.

Sorry - you posted while I was writing mine!
