Fringe regret. In fact - haircut regret

So I had a lob and fringe yesterday. Planned a big cut from my long hair - just past shoulders. Got home. "D" H grimaced and said "we'll do YOU like it? It's very 80s!" It was waved and I quite liked it. Didn't love it but my hair is crap anyway and doesn't sit right due to jug ears. Fine hair too. Like greasy string about 3 hours after washing.
I had side parting no fringe before and I hugely regret what I've done especially when getting the reactions I have from that bloody man. He's another thread today. And to think I've asked on another thread for birthday ideas. He can do one now!! Left photo is new cut. Other one (granted with very shiny post colour sheen and freshly cut and straightened) is last time. I want it back 😢. What can I do with it??

I think it looks great! Suits you 😊

Saturdayrabbit42 · 13/09/2020 06:39

Love the new cut and much prefer it to the old...boys know NOTHING about hair!!!

GhostCurry · 13/09/2020 07:39

I like it. Prefer the colour now, too.

Agree that a thicker fringe would be better. That would go stringy in a matter of hours for me. Agree with a PP that it’s easy to wash just the fringe in the sink.

Xiaoxiong · 13/09/2020 07:55

I much prefer it now - the old cut and colour were a bit dated, the new one really suits you and looks more in now.

Ignore your DH, some people handle change badly.

polkadotpjs · 13/09/2020 07:55

Thanks all. He really gets to me Wythe his comments. I tell him so but he seems unable to help himself. Idiot.

I much prefer the fringe, looks much better.

TeenyfTroon · 13/09/2020 08:13

I love your new hair. Much, much nicer. Ignore him.

IndecentFeminist · 13/09/2020 08:16

😂 honestly, I love my husband very much but his tastes and mine are very different.

Having a fringe is great. It keeps the annoying front bits out of your face, and makes your hair look/feel more styled even when just tried back.

I like it v much. 👍

iMatter · 13/09/2020 08:19

New haircut is much nicer

bananabob · 13/09/2020 08:20

It looks really lovely OP defo don't listen to your husband 👍🏻

welldonesquirrels · 13/09/2020 08:21

I think it's gorgeous and the colour is lovely! Definitely keep the fringe. Bin the straighteners, get some texturising product and keep that lovely tousled look.

Bokky · 13/09/2020 08:26

I think it looks great! If you wanted to try something for volume without spending for the Dyson initially, try the Babyliss Big Hair. I used this for years before switching to the Dyson.

Veterinari · 13/09/2020 08:42

It looks great - switch to a silicone free shampoo and conditioner to avoid weighing it down

Cissyandflora · 13/09/2020 08:46

I really like the new style. I also think it’s a great idea to change styles sometimes. And when you want to grow the fringe out in the future it will give you another style as it transitions. You look lovely.

Okbutnotgreat · 13/09/2020 09:10

It looks great and the softer colour suits you. A babyliss big hair is what I use to give my hair a groomed look and it’s brilliant for fringes, you’ll need the smaller barrelled one though. The front will be perfect length in about 2 weeks and you Can easily style it to the side for a change of look.

Beamur · 13/09/2020 09:15

Another vote for the new hair here too. It's a lovely colour.
If the fringe looks a bit greasy maybe a bit of dry shampoo? Would give it a bit more texture too.

diplodocusinermine · 13/09/2020 09:19

Now you've put 2nd photo up, I much prefer you with a fringe - looks softer and I'm sure if we could see your lovely face properly it would make you look much younger. Your former style is a bot rigid and so many people have your former style, tbh it's a bit boring.

HoHoHolyCow · 13/09/2020 09:20

Even with your face scribbled out, you look loads younger with your new haircut. Which is pretty impressive 😁

It looks lovely and much more natural than your old style.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 13/09/2020 09:24

Honestly, your new hair is fab, the colour is beautiful and more natural looking and the fringe looks less harsh than your previous style.
It looks lovely!

Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 13/09/2020 09:29

Honestly give it about two - three weeks and you’ll love it.

From personal experience you probably need a slightly thicker blunter fringe and grow it about half an inch to an inch. I think fringes look better when the sit just below the eyebrow.

Grab yourself some organic Baby powder to use instead of dry shampoo. Put a little on a brush and brush through. I have greasy hair and I do this with my fringe between washes. Works really well.

Learn to cut you own fringe too. I do mine about every three weeks and cut about 3mm off - takes about a minute and never gives me that surprised look that a short fringe can give me!

CassandraCross · 13/09/2020 09:38

I can see the second picture now and agree with everyone else your new cut, colour and fringe is far better, more stylish, natural, hair looks thicker and it does make you look younger (and like AMMGrin)

justanotherneighinparadise · 13/09/2020 09:41

I think many men just have that reaction when their partner gets shorter hair. It’s some weird panic that it’ll be the hair gone first, then she’ll start avoiding make up and before we know it there’s no sex or some such misogyny.

Londonborncatty · 13/09/2020 09:41

I prefer it. It looks very sophisticated.

Onprozacandmyhighhorse · 13/09/2020 09:47

I much prefer your new style. It makes you look much younger and I love the colour! I think you really suit a fringe. I have very fine hair too and use a BaByliss Big Curl which gives me loads of volume. I feel your pain but honestly you look fantastic x

IloveJudgeJudy · 13/09/2020 15:40

Another one saying that you look much better with the new cut and colour
