For those who are taking a peek and wondering what this all about, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients (rather than the latest new shiny product and all its empty promises) for our particular skin needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Newcomers are always welcome but please note the following:

Questions and asking for help on this thread is encouraged, however, we can’t give you a specific routine to follow and hope it works out for the best. There are no overnight miracles in skincare whether it be in the form of products or techniques. It’s about perseverance, understanding your skin, assessing its needs and responding to that in a diligent manner.

These threads were created to help those who want to learn for themselves. We’re a group of interested and invested skincare nuts happy to offer tea and sympathy and dole out advice. Everyone’s journey with skincare is different, what is universal and binds us is that through actually learning about the different active ingredients it helps us get to know our skin and help us adapt as it will change many times throughout our lives - with seasons, hormonal changes, ageing, genetics etc. It's in everyone's best interests to get to know their skin and to keep reviewing those changes with the confidence that comes from the gathered knowledge here. We really encourage you to spend the time reading through previous threads and linked info sheets that the many contributors have taken the trouble to share.

By no means are we experts, we're only a bunch of amateurs that can only respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly.

I am very slowly working on consolidating the gathered information from previous threads into easier to read formats but it’s slow going. I would suggest reading thread 1 and at the very least the following info sheets (provided they apply to you):

I bought the foreo big bear
I really wanted to get it on cult beauty as I felt i could trust their delivery...but lookfantastic had a much better offer for me so I got it and the real lube for £215.

Now to anxiously await the trip across the sea border HmmHmm

Tsmummy08 · 09/01/2021 09:06

I've given in too - I had a video call with a friend last night and the sight of my weird cheek-sagging tipped me over the edge Grin

botemp · 09/01/2021 09:13

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeep Grin

🤞You're not left at the mercy of the God of thieves in his new green suede boots again Duvet.

Foreo definitely needs to pay me now...

The silk'n conductivity gel is exactly what I want from it btw. Used it twice now, left it on once, was fine but there's a bit of a film. Last night I just thermal water sprayed it and wiped away the excess and that feels nicer. It absorbs quicker but other than that no complaints as it's easily solved by a quick spritz of thermal water.

Baaa baaa Bo's sheep! 🐑🐑🐑

No seriously, I've been thinking about this for a while as I'm not sure fillers would work for what I want to achieve... we shall see whether this solves the sag!

botemp · 09/01/2021 11:46

Well if the Bear doesn't do it, there's a new filler, Volux, I think, not Voluma anyhow, as Google keeps trying to correct, that's specially developed for jawlines.

It does look like it's one of those things that needs to be done by the right practitioner as it's a lot more sculpting than filling and you don't want to end up with a weird unfamiliar chin. It's popular in Asia (where fillers traditionally aren't that popular as the look doesn't really suit beauty ideals and facial structure) as it can give that strong V jawline that everyone there chases (well South Korea predominantly but k-dramas are very influential in the rest of Asia).

I feel like I'm part of a gang: "Bo's sheep" 🐑 🐑 😂😂

botemp · 09/01/2021 20:07

Just call me Little Bo Peep 🤣 except she lost her sheep I think 🙊

Have they sent out your Bear yet, Sophie?

SophieLion · 10/01/2021 09:14

I'm sure you'll manage to keep hold of us WinkSmile

My bear was despatched on Thursday (I chased) so expect it some time this week. Already have friends here who are very keen to see what it does.

botemp · 10/01/2021 11:43

More sheep Shock🐑🐑🐑, is this how pyramid schemes start...

Hello - Is this

www.amazon.co.uk/CeraVe-Very-Skin-Moisturizing-Cream/dp/B07C5VMJPW/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&crid=2VSPJH3M55PMD&keywords=cerave+moisturising+cream&sprefix=cerave%2Caps%2C754&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1610309582&sr=8-2

the moisturizer I should be buying for my flaky skin? I always get so confused by their products...

thank you.

botemp · 10/01/2021 20:36

Yes, that's the heavier one for soothing Tret skin, Karcheer, I always have to triple check too. They could really do with colour coding their products Hmm

OP posts:
Karcheer · 10/01/2021 22:13

Thank you @botemp I’ll order it now.

cad186 · 11/01/2021 22:09

Well I've just bought the Foreo Bear as I have weird cheek sagging going on too! Botemp you should be on commission!

NinnyNewName · 12/01/2021 08:34

The Vichy 89 is working well with the Foreo. I have to spray a little water towards the end as I do it for 9 minutes, then I tissue off any residue. I do it in the evening as that makes most sense product wise.

70sduvet · 12/01/2021 16:25

My bear came this morning. Royal mail delivered it just in time for the morning routine as well.
I used it with the serum but might break out the lube tonight Grin
(The gods still have my boots though)
On a first go I like it. Obv I have to say that as you can't spend that sort of money and not be deluded but there is some sort of bounce or glow. Definitely a feeling of eating toffee in the jawline. Yes I did much more than the 3 min on the app

botemp · 12/01/2021 18:18

Ooh my flock is growing 🐑🐑🐑🐑 Grin now where is that Foreo money.

I also do 9 mins, 3mins each side of face and then neck (while being paranoid to avoid getting anywhere near the thyroid, bit annoyed Foreo doesn't warn about this more explicitly). I've gotten good results quite quickly, Foreo say two months though 🤷

OP posts:
NinnyNewName · 12/01/2021 18:39

Bo I agree. Thank goodness I watched the video you posted before buying. Otherwise I'd have been none the wiser.

Do you use it every single night? I can see me doing it say 5 times a week. I quite enjoy it thought, listening to a podcast as I do my skincare routine.

botemp · 12/01/2021 19:01

Yes, nightly, they say every day for two months to see results and then you can do it 3x a week. I need to do some research if continuing at the same rate as I do now is harmful or something. I only know there should be 24hrs apart. I find it very relaxing and enjoyable so would feel quite disappointed with using it just 3x a week.

OP posts:
Tsmummy08 · 13/01/2021 11:49

I've got my Bear too and have used it for a few days - can't say I've noticed any difference yet but it's possible I've not got it on strong enough. I'm using it on level 4 at the moment and the beginner setting on the app - is the best way forward to do it on as high a setting as you can stand? I've taken before pics and will do again after a month or so..

Also ordered the Silk'n gel but might have to bring out the Lube! The Silk'n is really sting-y (high hyaluronic acid content maybe?) whereas Aloe Vera gel was only sting-y after it had been on a while but absorbed too fast. Lube is next on my list to try Grin

botemp · 13/01/2021 12:03

I cranked it up to five from the get go Blush and did a long advanced routine (via YouTube) and have only used it as a 3 minute program once. I would also say I'm someone that physiologically builds muscle quickly so that could be behind me seeing results quickly. It also could just be my imagination 🤷

I've experienced some stinging with the silk'n gel too but it's never caused any irritation (in the immediate or long term).

SophieLion · 13/01/2021 16:09

Good to read all this. You all got your bears so quickly! Mine is still on its way ....

SallieSallow · 14/01/2021 22:47

Grin at all the bear love 🧸

For once I’m resisting as fingers crossed I’ll be moving house fairly soon so desperately trying to purge/declutter & not accumulate More Stuff. I have however found my NuFace, not sure whether to use it or not though as managed to get my fillers and Botox just before lockdown, guess I could just do my neck/jawline?

I use and really like Vichy89, obviously not tried it with the Bear but might give it a try with the nuface.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 15/01/2021 13:00

@SallieSallow - we can form the Declutter Club Smile. We are getting loads of building work done, and living out of boxes so have had to cut right back being ruthless about what to keep.

cad186 · 15/01/2021 13:45

My bear came yesterday and I have used it twice. I cannot use it on my forehead, even on the lowest setting it feels awful! It feels like my hair is going to stand on end if that makes sense. It's fine everywhere else so I will just avoid my forehead for now!

70sduvet · 18/01/2021 12:26

cad186 by any chance are you wearing anything metal in your hair while using it? A bobble with a metal bit? Or earrings?

I am very lazy with jewellery and usually wear the same earrings for days weeks at a time. I changed to very small delicate dangling gold earrings and nearly jumped out the window from the shock. While small ball studs are grand.

Still enjoying the bear. Definitely thinking it is making a difference. I can really see changes to my heavy eyelids. There is more room again, they had become very droopy
