*Scottishmouse' I am 5 6.. its a good length on me mid calf. But it does come up very big.. get 2 sizes down at least ( seriously, I would usually have a 14 on top in Toast because of norks....That Kin dress is an 8!!)

luggageandbags · 22/10/2020 20:17

@Saurus72 I go to the Shepton Mallet shop every few months as I live 40min drive away and it’s on the way to my favourite gallery so we make a day of it. It’s really hard to predict what you’ll find. The prices are like their sale times and it’s previous seasons’ stock. Sometimes you see a current season item with a small defect at a discount.
In addition to clothes they also have shoes, accessories and homeware.

I always go full of expectation but actually thinking about it I rarely bought anything, I think you have to be super lucky. But that’s part of the fun.

ToastCosILoveIt · 22/10/2020 22:16

If you look on the Instagram account for backofthewardrobe70 she is wearing the blue Kin cord dress, styled with chelsea boots and ankle socks and a white top underneath. She said it's a 12 but she looks tiny and the dress doesn't look big...she looks fab.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 22/10/2020 22:26

nocureforlove as well as the jumper i like your trousers (toast i assume?) and trainers - where are they.from?
The kin dress and trailing leaves dress look great on pp.
Would love to see the gingham dress on, it is on my sale list. Like laska I am interested in the tencel wool tops.
I've enjoyed wearing my past season toast, most of it sourced on ebay .

Very nice @BerniceBobsHerHair.

NoCureForLove · 23/10/2020 00:18

Bernice - I think my trousers might be the same as yours in one of your photos? Or at least the same shape? Heavy Japanese denim pleated jeans - the ones with the button waist (JL sale bargain).

My trainers are 3 year old Air and Grace ones. I live in their trainers! No longer available - but very like these

Thanks @luggageandbags Have decided not to go! Kind of on the basis that I’ve been working quite hard to change my shopping habits away from ‘searching for things to buy’ and more towards buying only what I love and need. Weird but I know what I mean 😊

SewingBeeAddict · 23/10/2020 07:29

@Yorkshirelass04
Ive got the gingham dress and I dont find it too oversized at all.
I cant remember which size I went for now but it fits beautifully.
Im a funny shape with wide shoulders but slim skinny arms, slim upper but pear shaped lower half with long legs .
I can look awful in the wrong shape but supermodel like Wink in the right clothes.
Toast just seem to suit me at the moment although their trousers dont.
I ordered the other gingham dress, the linen one as really wanted this and was worried it would sell out.
I ordered a M and initially though too big but wore the neckline on the edges of my shoulders and bingo it looks perfect.
And its got pockets .
Styling , Im going to wear with a cropped boxy cable, cotton sweater ( Gap 100% cotton , 50% off , £19.99, I got oatmeal, grey and white)
Ive also got a couple of lacy cropped sweaters and a chunky cardigan for when its colder.
Needless to say tights, boots etc

This is the way Im shopping at the moment. Far less impulse buying and more stalking and really considering what I need.
MaizeBlouse · 23/10/2020 11:19

Hi everyone! Joining in the fun here, aided by @Laska2Meryls who kindly sent me a refer code.
I also ordered a few pieces from Offon clothing which look gorgeous online, hoping they go together nicely with my new Toast items.
Will post photos when they have arrived!

Laska2Meryls · 23/10/2020 11:23

Noooo Saurus how can you !! (Impressed at restraint)
Ok so here is the dress again with my long navy boots .. it looks best on me with top button undone .. Definitely keeping!

Gonegrey31 · 23/10/2020 11:31

I returned the Fairisle jumper in the blue/red colour way because I ordered my usual size (S) and it was just too snug on me, bigger sizes are OOS.

However, I managed to buy (yet again!) the Graphic Yoke sweater in beige/grey (one popped up on the JL website) in S, and this particular one is a good fit so I'm keeping it....wearing it today over a crisp white shirt and black jeans. Even my fashionista dd said she approves, so I must be doing something right for once...

Laska2Meryls · 23/10/2020 11:36

The graphic ones are all over the place with size I think.. the M -which id usually get was huge , very short and wide.. the S a much better shape on me all over and actually longer..

Craftycorvid · 23/10/2020 11:41

Just a thought...if the jumpers are hand knitted, different knitters knit to different tensions, and this would affect the size and length of the finished garment.

SewingBeeAddict · 23/10/2020 12:41

That is very true but in commercial knitting ( yes its a thing) the guidelines are usually very strict as regards size, tension, yardage. I couldnt tell if this was hand or machine as the shop assistant in the Toast shop was hovering but if its HK they usually state this and charge more.
luggageandbags · 23/10/2020 12:55

@Saurus72 yep I totally get that. I swing between mindful and purposeful shopping but often succumb to the thrill of a good rummage.
My problem is I get bored quickly and like to change and experiment with shapes, colours and styles.
Sometimes it swings too far and I am filled with feeling of guilt and shame, and then I go cold turkey. Honestly it’s like eating disorder but with shopping.

Craftycorvid · 23/10/2020 13:51

luggage I can absolutely relate in terms of wanting variety/feeling it gets a bit disordered. My excuse so far for clothes shopping is a big change in shape and lifestyle, but at some point I shall have to (literally) take stock.

faustina · 23/10/2020 15:05

@Laska2Meryls - it would be criminal if you didn't keep it! It

I was trying to be mindful etc etc - but then I heard Gap was thinking of closing all its stores in Europe so I've just panic bought a whole load of the t-shirts they do (which I live in - petite vintage cotton) - and then I saw they had some black dungarees for £20 so have bought in 3 sizes as I don't know which ones will suit.

So much for mindfulness! Mind you, I do return lots and will only buy from shops with good customer services

Laska2Meryls · 23/10/2020 15:30

Really? I love their straight jeans .. I had better panic buy some ..

Ellapaella · 23/10/2020 17:18

Has anyone got the Annie cord trousers? I really like the look of them but would really like to see how they look - there's no picture of them on a model on the website.

faustina · 23/10/2020 17:47

I tried and sent them back @Ellapaella - they were a really nice length on me but the waist was tiny compared to usual toast sizing and so not as comfortable as I'd hoped

Ellapaella · 23/10/2020 18:08

@faustina it's tricky.. I am usually a size 10 in most places.. in Toast more of an 8 or a small. Should I order a size 10? Or perhaps a 12? It's all such a gamble! Are they cropped or full length? (Sorry for all the questions)
