I'm still seeing so many cold shoulder tops. Who is buying these monstrosoties?!

Ruffles don't seem to be going anywhere either.

Why all the comments about parsnip legs?
Aren't most legs parsnip shaped anyway? Wide at the top and tapering down to (if you're lucky) slim ankles.

Ling live skinny jeans.

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 27/08/2020 12:27

I really hate the Boden jumper and Seasalt yellow mac trend. Just screams TV presenter on a day trip to me.

DocOfTheBay · 27/08/2020 12:31

likeamillpond Personally I don’t dislike skinny jeans, it is just a funny and apt image. Another way to say the look you describe, tapering from the top..

keepingbees · 27/08/2020 12:40

Gosh, never realised there was so much hate on skinny jeans! I've got slim legs, but big boobs, so they suit me as I wear them and a slightly baggier top. otherwise I'm wearing big/ loose/ mom jeans and a baggy top, and look even bigger!

^^This!!

I wouldn't know what shoes to put with bootcut jeans that won't look like a 90s throwback.

Mine are more like a whole ham attached to an Oak Tree. With the bit above the ham bit more like the rest of the pig, so I need a high waist as well.

Low rise skinny jeans can do one as far as I'm concerned.

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 27/08/2020 14:50

I'm actually fed up of jeans full stop. I have wore them every day since 1999 Grin

AuntMasha · 27/08/2020 15:01

I confess, I quite enjoy wearing clothes that other women disapprove of.

Bubbletrouble43 · 27/08/2020 15:15

@philippaBlake
I also have a pyjama top vest with a tiny little boob pocket.. I assumed it was for putting my kit kat wrapper in until I could be arsed to get up and put it in the bin 🤣

fatfacefantastic · 27/08/2020 15:26

Big brows - being back skinny ones!

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 27/08/2020 15:30

The majority of comments on here are very snobby.
I can only imagine most posters are elderly ladies who wear Chanel suits from their attitude

I think your first point has some merit, although I wouldn't say it was a majority. Shame you had to go and spoil it with such an ageist, asinine comment. I find judgemental people come from all walks of life.

Ageism and reverse snobbery, tut tut.

unmarkedbythat · 27/08/2020 16:03

Back to the upper arms... my mum is obsessed with hers and has been for years, and they're perfectly fine. They'd be perfectly fine even if they were the saggy, flapping wings she believes they are, but they aren't like that at all (mine were post weight loss and my youngest child would fiddle with them endlessly as he fell asleep Grin ).

Bwlch · 27/08/2020 16:13

Me too, although it took this thread to make me realise that a good part of my wardrobe is a pearl clutcher's nightmare.

I sleep easy knowing that it is just MN though and not the real world. I popped down to the shop yesterday wearing low rise daisy dukes and a short strappy vest top (no bra because I hate visible underwear). Nobody fainted.

SnuggyBuggy · 27/08/2020 16:17

I don't care what other people wear. I just selfishly wish there were more fashionable clothes that worked for my shape.

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 27/08/2020 16:54

Yes if only the barrel silhouette was in fashion, I would be sorted.

Hardbackwriter · 27/08/2020 17:26

Me too @SnuggyBuggy - my own pick (all trousers being cropped) wasn't because I want to stop anyone wearing them, it's because I don't want to wear them and I really genuinely have struggled this summer to find casual trousers, or a jumpsuit, with full-length legs.

Mumtobe193 · 27/08/2020 20:48

Fairly recent trend, but those high leg, bay watch style bikini bottoms/swimsuits. Think they look awful. Been online shopping in the sales for some swimwear for my holiday next year and I’m finding it really hard just to find a normal pair of bikini bottoms that sit on your hips and don’t look like they’re being ate by your arse 😂

IndecentFeminist · 27/08/2020 22:37

Well this thread veered from light hearted to plain old bitchy, snobby and ageist pretty damn fast didn't it. 😏

Skinnies aren't a trend, they've been around for decades. The new barrel leg at al are trends. Skinnies look good on people of all sizes if they have half decent legs.

I don't get the big eyebrow thing, but then I am 39 not 19...pretty sure my mum didn't get half my fashion choices when I was that age.

It is also worth remembering that different areas have different styles. Where I live is very casual/preppy so half of what is technically in fashion would look ludicrously overdressed, try hard and out of place. Dungarees and a breton would not.

IndecentFeminist · 27/08/2020 22:38

Oh and when my daughter is a teenager, I probably won't like half of what she wears. But I will absolutely support her in choosing what she wants to wear and how she wants to look, regardless of what some middle aged man and his tutting wife might think.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 27/08/2020 23:54

There are terrible trends from every decade and every generation regrets them. I bet there were some people laughing at shell suits and batwing jumpers and “bodies” a few years ago, because they were shit and impractical. Didn’t necessarily mean they were sneering or tutting, sounds pretty ageists to think posters are now.

CallarMorvern · 28/08/2020 00:35

Mom jeans - they look awful no matter how skinny or not the wearer is. Cropped wideleg trousers, can't my head round this one and pointy nails with embellishments, I always think the wearer is taking a risk every time she wipes🙈
I like skinny jeans, I like skinny kickflares too, though not an option in the current wet weather.

CallarMorvern · 28/08/2020 00:37

And...fake jeans pockets? What is that all about?! Women's jeans pockets are pitiful compared to men's anyway, but seeing the front ones sewn up is taking the piss.

kierawhogives · 28/08/2020 01:00

Second Wide trousers. They look hideous like shoulder pads.

I love skinny jeans! Who doesn't?

Newjeansrippedjeans · 28/08/2020 02:26

Horribly short shorts and tight cycling shorts
