I'm still seeing so many cold shoulder tops. Who is buying these monstrosoties?!

Ruffles don't seem to be going anywhere either.

@MotherOfMonkeys0

Maybe controversial, but grown women in dungarees. Shapeless, unflattering, try-hard cutesy. Awful.
How about dungaree dresses? (she says, alarmed, looking down at what she's wearing right now!)
Sasuma · 26/08/2020 22:15

Can I add Breton tops to the list? They will always be a classic but I think we need to take a break. Too many of them around! Some people have multiple colours of Breton tops. It’s like a uniform!

Craftycorvid · 26/08/2020 22:18

Eyes collection of Breton tops, contemplates dungarees and gives tattoo an affectionate pat. Grin

MotherOfMonkeys0 · 26/08/2020 22:21

@Hardbackwriter dungaree-dresses are different because they have shape and look feminine. Adult dungarees just look like toddler clothes to me. Like wearing a onesie, fine in the house but not outside 😀

Hardbackwriter · 26/08/2020 22:35

@MotherOfMonkeys0 phew! Grin

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 26/08/2020 22:35

Stupid headbands for bald babies
Countouring (usually badly)
Leggings/Jeggings and short tops

DragonPie · 26/08/2020 22:51

I love my skinny jeans, trainers with dresses and animal print. I also own dungarees!

Hate cold shoulder tops, they just look so daft.

netsybetsy · 27/08/2020 07:48

@MikeUniformMike

The french tuck. It looks like you've just been to the loo and accidentally tucked your jumper in.
I did a French tuck once - but it was my skirt into my knickers ooh la la!! Grin
KaptainKaveman · 27/08/2020 07:54

Ugg Boots. They are so ugly! they make even the most beautiful and shapely of women look like a dumpy frump.

Malin52 · 27/08/2020 08:53

Anything off shoulder but with arms... irritating and boob flappage
'Ditzy' print
Frills

This frock is my worst nightmare

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 27/08/2020 08:59

I think the French tuck looks like you've come back from the loo and got caught. I cant believe ita a thing. Well I can...

LordOftheRingz · 27/08/2020 09:12

cold shoulder tops are a no if you have larger arms, the opening just sits on the arm and does not dangle in anyway.

Yes the skinny jeans and parsnip look.

GilbertMarkham · 27/08/2020 09:15

@SnuggyBuggy

Converse Dainty or Slip On?

GilbertMarkham · 27/08/2020 09:28

I have one that I feel a bit bad about saying:
Vest tips worn by anyone over the age of 50.
After the age of 50, even the slimmest of arms gets that soft slightly flabby wobbly skinned look.
Young arms are lovely and . Older arms look better with a bit of a sleeve.
Not a good look.

Well this thread is about fashion trends that potentially look bad on everybody; not about older people's bodies and what they should cover up.

GilbertMarkham · 27/08/2020 09:32

(Or even just fashion trends that you particularly don't like the look of).

I'll second the slug eyebrow thing ... Just a money making ("3d brows") fad by salons that had hood winked some people, mostly young women it seems; they don't look good.

It may have been originally based on thicker brows that look great like Cara Delevingne's or Lily Collin's but what it's become is nothing like that.

When I can face shopping without a mask I'll be looking into some suggestions. I have got quite wide feet annoyingly though but hopefully something will work.

GilbertMarkham · 27/08/2020 09:41

you can see all the middle aged men salivating and their eyes popping out on stalks as they pass. Gross.

What, are the young men selectively blind to young women's buttocks? Seems unlikely in my experience.

That's one of those things that's aimed at men around their own age (or is just a look that some singer or model they've seen has done and they copy it), the middle aged men seeing it are incidental/unintentional (and if middle aged men don't realise that, they're delusional). Should young women dress to avoid middle aged men staring/"appreciating".

GilbertMarkham · 27/08/2020 09:42

Ah, the dainty might be quite narrow, not sure about the slip on though. They look like they could accommodate wider feet

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 27/08/2020 09:53

No, they don't Hmm. My arms very muscular. I was a gymnast when I was young and now lift weights for arms several times a week. My father is Asian and the skin on my arms hasn't got any 'soft slightly flabby wobbly skinned look', whatever that is, at all.

unmarkedbythat · 27/08/2020 09:56

Madonna's arms seem to have done alright.

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 27/08/2020 10:00

@unmarkedbythat

Madonna's arms seem to have done alright.
Plenty of women who are over 50's have.

She's 59 and wearing a vest top. So wobbly skinned Hmm

Skinny jeans! Makes everyone look like a parsnip

Grin ROFL.

Jen435 · 27/08/2020 10:12

Gosh, never realised there was so much hate on skinny jeans! I've got slim legs, but big boobs, so they suit me as I wear them and a slightly baggier top. otherwise I'm wearing big/ loose/ mom jeans and a baggy top, and look even bigger!

DocOfTheBay · 27/08/2020 10:13

I'm getting the feeling that some posters think that everything suddenly changes the second you hit 50. Not so

Ageism is rife on MN. Women should and must wear what they like etc etc.... until they hit a certain age when suddenly feminism goes out the window and ageism settles smugly on the judgey bench.

DocOfTheBay · 27/08/2020 10:15

And women should wear whatever they want even if they have saggier skin..... so what?
