@WawLaDot I wonder if the newer stylists that have come on board were even aware of this when joining the team.

I get the impression this has all been cooked up in the past fortnight.

HumousWhereTheHeartIs · 31/08/2020 10:54

I agree that is has been hasty. And I do feel sorry for Susie who ran a great business for several years. She seems devastated by the unhappy customers and complaints - but every business has dissatisfied customers. She did my analysis a few years ago and it was spot on. And whilst I don't share the sense of style as most of the stylists, I have bought a couple of things that Emily and Sarah have recommended.

Adwodeabo · 31/08/2020 10:55

I can’t find the new group. Wow, I’m very surprised that a marketing “expert” advised closing down a group of 14k potential customers. Lots of people join, follow, comment and eventually are convinced to spend. That’s the whole point of social media marketing.

WawLaDot · 31/08/2020 11:00

I do too, which is mad as this sort of change should have taken months to plan and there would usually be some consultation with the existing and target client base and then a moving over period. Its bonkers!

WawLaDot · 31/08/2020 11:00

^^ sorry, that was a reply to @GingerAndTheBiscuits

Coffeeandbeans · 31/08/2020 11:05

I can’t find the new group either. I can find one with the suggested name but that looks like another business or shop.

. . It's there - Style Sisterhood

There's already been a post asking for members of the group who are personal stylists to post and say hello and a few have - one already seems to be taking business away from Susie as she's had a bit of interest and people wanting to book her. Another former SBS member is training to be a stylist.

I’ve read these past few threads about SBS and kept quiet as I was always very happy with my analysis.
I can’t afford to pay to join the group so was mostly disappointed but a bit baffled as to why the FB group had to close.
However, as I always do when a new app is being touted by anybody, I googled the reviews on trust pilot for Patreon and they are by and large, awful. There are only a few reviews on there but still, 85% give it one star.
I wouldn’t sign up now even if I could afford it.

ohmygiddiest · 31/08/2020 11:17

It's called Style Sisterhood, it is a public group and the icon is shelves with shoes and handbags.

Jdhshekr · 31/08/2020 11:37

I couldn’t find it either until I searched for style sisterhood sbs - somehow that brought it up

Coffeeandbeans · 31/08/2020 11:52

I’m in!!! Thank you ladies.

I've joined Style Sisterhood as well. Thank you to the PP who posted the link above. I couldn't find it on my search either. Looks like there's lots of sound advice and constructive criticism on there.

Squintybumcheek · 31/08/2020 12:09

I am absolutely gobsmacked that her advisors have convinced her to close down a group of 13k, ok there may have been a few unkind comments but that level of potential customers is absolutely worth the hassle of admining the group. Just ask for some extra admins and moderators if you need help!

It seems like a total kneejerk reaction so some complaints about the service which could easily have been rectified with some dialogue. I think this will bite them in the arse bit style.

I have been analysed and had an online shop which I was happy with. Was probably going to get a make up analysis but not now. I want to share ideas with others and am not paying £6 to do it.

Also the members of the group are what makes it buzz. If there is only a few hundred on patreon its going to get dull very quickly. If you look at the last few posts from the stylists Sarah's has 13 comments and Mhairi's has 1! But posts from members frequently have 50 odd comments. They will lose all of that interaction. Bonkers!

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 31/08/2020 12:28

I've joined the new group, thanks for the heads up! As I was booted out of the original "sisterhood" despite paying for a gold analysis and not saying anything negative Hmm

This seems like such an odd move by Susie.

MulberryPeony · 31/08/2020 12:35

Bonkers about sums it up. How long until this thread gets deleted then mumsnet? Style analysis has to be one if the most random contenders for contentious threads no?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 31/08/2020 12:45

There is a really nasty post by an admin about what sisterhood is, it was so horrible and patronising and out of nearly 100 comments there were less than 5 that were not negative. The comments have now all been removed and commenting turned off but the lack of awareness for an admin to post that is staggering.

I'm probably going to sound like a dick saying this but god the 'be kind or say nothing attitude' really boils my piss. It so often seems to be levied at women to get them to shut up and toe the line. I don't think that harassment and bullying are ok but in this day of the internet it seems like the skill of being able to disagree with someone then move on, or see a spiteful comment and just ignore it, is totally lacking when it should be an essential skill.

WawLaDot · 31/08/2020 12:57

I saw the admin post and couldn't believe it! Is that the part of talking to people can expect on the new site? and paying £6 a month for it to boot!

StealthNinjaMum · 31/08/2020 13:02

A part of me really feels for Susie, she surrounded herself with this group / cult of very supportive fans and I really believe she helped lots of people. But reading comments on mumsnet, the other social media platform (not sure if we're allowed to mention it?), trustpilot and the new facebook page loads of her customers have emerged who weren't happy with the service but just never complained.

I think Susie and her stylists must've had such a shock to suddenly realise that so many people were actually keeping their feelings to themselves and that they weren't all happy customers. Rather than suppressing negative feedback she's drawn attention to poor service / style assessments and even satisfied customers will see this.

Even if she now apologised and decided to not close the facebook page down it looks terrible that she tried to get people to write reviews on trustpilot before changing her product, blocked a load of people, deleted negative comments, switched off comments, and went against her core ethos to provide an affordable service for as many people as possible.

PatchworkElmer · 31/08/2020 13:04

I hope that Susie is ok- this seems like a very odd, quite extreme move.

I’m not a customer, but several of my friends have done it, and I had asked DH for a personal shop as my Christmas gift. I think I’ll have a re-think- this is all making me a bit uncomfortable, and I do want to have an accurate idea of what colours suit me from the service I choose..

Ironfloor269 · 31/08/2020 13:24

I just can't get my head around why Susie blindly followed the marketing adviser's advice without thinking what repercussions it would have on her business....

Shutting down and silencing negative comments as abd when they arise is one thing but proactively closing an entire avenue of potential business is mind boggling. This is going to be a death knell for her business.

Does she not run these decisions by her co stylists at all?

MabelMoo23 · 31/08/2020 14:47

I’m sorry I don’t buy the 14,000 people is too
many to moderate.

Caroline Hirons group has 60k+ members
Disney for Brits has 80k+ members
Disneyland Paris for Brits has 178,000 members. Do you see them throwing hissy fits about admin of the groups?

Bollocks to the too many to moderate. It’s all about control/censorship and revenue

Starlight39 · 31/08/2020 14:48

Thank you to those who posted the alternative fb group, that’s really helpful. I’ve also joined the DMBL40 group that looks good.

WawLaDot · 31/08/2020 14:55

@Starlight39 is it the group that says "the confidence bible group"? I've been searching and I couldn't find anything but just stumbled across this one.

Starlight39 · 31/08/2020 15:03

@WawLaDot yes, it's called "Does my bum look 40 - The Confidence Bible". I've only been a member since this morning but like the range of looks so far.
