Tell a lie, about 5k others, there's about 9k left

OrangeCinnamon1 · 05/09/2020 19:57

I think they just want rid of the group. I reckon It suits the narrative to say there has been misuse of the group so then the business can make some money of the back of the charity subs they charge.

Who wants to be part of such a fake heavily censored environment anyway. All a bit 'Emperor's Clothes' feel so stupid for buying in.

Lumene · 05/09/2020 20:37

I have just been removed from the group also. Have never posted a negative comment. Spent lots of money on SBS and recommended them to lots of people, quite a few of whom paid for various items. Will not be doing that again.

I was a pretty satisfied customer likely to return. Am now really pissed off. They didn’t even bother to message me to let me know I have been removed.

I have never had such a negative experience with a business that I can think of.

JessicaPeach · 05/09/2020 20:39

They are deleting everyone, it's not a cull, it's a closure.

Lumene · 05/09/2020 20:42

Thanks @JessicaPeach glad to hear that.

Shame SBS couldn’t be bothered to tell me though, I bet I won’t be the only one who assumes I’ve been ejected.

Teazels · 05/09/2020 20:50

I got removed without any word of explanation before they even made their "big announcement". Despite being a positive contributor and paying SBS around £100.
When I contacted them to ask why, Emily gave me some bullshit story about Facebook issues causing it.
Yeah right, that turned out to be true.Hmm

Kind of makes you wonder what else they've lied about...like member photos being posted on Mumsnet and Tattle for example? Hmm

StealthNinjaMum · 05/09/2020 20:51

@lumene as a previous customer did they not send you an email to explain? I understand they couldn’t email non customers as they wouldn’t have their email addresses but it seems shabby to just remove people without contacting them. If you weren’t a big Facebook user or were on holiday you could just wonder where the group has gone. It makes no sense.

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 05/09/2020 21:06

I was removed (paid customer) before the announcement Hmm

Geggs · 05/09/2020 21:16

They made an announcement via live last week and in Instagram. But so many people would’ve missed it. I think it was last week.

They’ve now moved to a subscription platform where you need to pay £6pm to get access.

guidedogneeded · 05/09/2020 21:27

I'm still in the group but it will go poof soon, the numbers have dropped fast now. I really hope Susie knows what she's doing she can't be in the right frame of mind surely to be making such huge changes after the reaction she had to her news this week.

PimlicoJo · 06/09/2020 05:29

Just in case Susie is reading this I really do wish her well. Any criticism I've made is only of the business, not Susie as a person. I think she comes across very well and had a great business idea. She's made getting colours and style done affordable. I think she's being badly advised and unfortunately I don't think all her stylists are equal. Some are great, others not so much. And she's only as good as her stylists. But I wish her every success in the direction she's taking her business.

I really enjoyed the Facebook page and will miss it.

Nonamesavail · 06/09/2020 07:42

I've used patreon and its always been £3 a month?

Geggs · 06/09/2020 07:49

@Nonamesavail they choose what it costs. Some people have tiers so you get different content dependant on what you pay.

Lumene · 06/09/2020 08:01

Hi Stealthninjamum - no, nothing at all, no email, zero. I have bought a gold analysis, most of the ebooks, had a wardrobe sort through at my house, and bought an online shop! So they’ve met me in person and I’ve spent several £100 with them.

Geggs · 06/09/2020 08:29

@Lumene You can still join discord & patreon and continue getting some kind of the social aspect that FB offered. Only it’ll cost you £6 per month.

Adwodeabo · 06/09/2020 08:33

What disgusts me is that the group hasn’t been deleted. They’re obviously intending to keep it and make use of the private content posted by everyone they’ve booted out.

Lumene · 06/09/2020 08:36

Thanks Geggs, unfortunately with the pandemic that isn’t a cost I can afford to put in my budget.

It would have been nice if SBS had a. Emailed paying clients to explain and b. Left the old content up to be accessed. Having that group to discuss and get ideas was part of the value of getting an analysis.

StealthNinjaMum · 06/09/2020 09:12

I think it's a shoddy way to treat people like @lumene. Maybe its because I'm old fashioned and not really part of the instagram world but I would've expected an email thanking me for my custom and trying to entice me into the new apps - with a free subscription for a few months. Presumably the new chatroom is going to be really quiet with only a fraction of the members too, so lacking a buzz, whereas the new Sisterhood facebook group has about 100 new posts a day and I'm enjoying delving into some of them.

cheerfulcoconut · 06/09/2020 09:42

That's a good point actually. Why not email existing paying customers to try and get them onto the new platform? I've had an analysis, a glasses analysis, bought some of the guides. Where's my "hey customer, here's our new direction, want to join us?" message? I'm not on Instagram, so wouldn't see anything there. I didn't follow the group, just dipped in occasionally, so I only heard about the announcement here.

YettaTessieMarmelstein · 06/09/2020 10:00

E mailing all their customers to explain would surely result in people signing up for patreon. I won’t sign up because of the fall-out I saw on Facebook. But if I hadn’t, I might have tried it for a month.

WawLaDot · 06/09/2020 10:05

I agree, if they archived the group then members would also have a choice if they want to delete their own content or leave it up.
MrsSchadenfreude · 06/09/2020 10:08

There’s also nothing on the website about Patreon/Discord. Surely this would be an obvious place to promote it?

ilovecherries · 06/09/2020 10:19

I was also surprised not to get a customer email, I do think it’s an indication of how heavily SBS depended on social media rather than investing in their own website and customer management system. I have joined the Patreon group, I was interested to see what it was like, and had it been great I’m fortunate enough to have been able to afford it, but I won’t be staying. There are to be fair regular updates in it, but it’s just not appealing to me. The discord group is unmanageable, no threaded comments, just an interminably long feed that’s impossible to follow.

Ellapaella · 06/09/2020 11:02

I'm surprised they didn't email their paying customers as well. It goes go to show the Fb group was their main way of keeping in touch with their customers - it's pretty poor to just delete the group and not archive it as well.
The new FB group that's been set up is great, it's good to have more honest chat and I see a lot of people are questioning their analysis.
I was analysed as a an autumn and while I can totally see why (in my photos I do seem to have the classic colouring) I have often wondered whether I could be a warm spring and would have liked to ask that 'out loud' without being critical. I could never have done that on the old FB group as I'd probably have been kicked off.

Adwodeabo · 06/09/2020 11:05

They’ve posted that they have 670 members on Patreon. So that’s approx 5% of the members who were on FB. However those members are paying over £4K per month so I guess it was worth binning the other 95%.
