I wonder if the level of content on Patreon will continue. If they are only serving 670 people instead of the 13,000 on Facebook or 30,000 on Instagram then it might not be worth it.
I also saw the SBS update on my Facebook feed this morning. I’m sorry if this is a silly question, but if I’m no longer in the group, how could I see it?

StealthNinjaMum · 06/09/2020 11:19

But @Adwodeabo if you take a 40% cut for the bullying charity that’s only £2500 a month to be split between about a dozen stylists. Someone upthread said that they were paid on commission but surely they’d want to be paid to create content (especially as the 13000 members who didn’t sign up won’t be creating any.)

I think it will now be hard for them to get new customers without the Facebook group. Anyone who sees them in the daily mail will google them and see this thread and the trust pilot reviews and will just walk away. I suppose some of the more ‘loyal customers’ will buy online shops and personal shops but I’m just not sure how sustainable this way of working is.

Atalune · 06/09/2020 11:20

Susie has been very quiet on instagram....I would have thought she would be doing multiple stories bugging up the new platforms and giving little sneaks of what it offers? But nada.

Could anyone DM me with the new Fbook group please? 🙏🏼

Mustnotbeleftblank · 06/09/2020 11:26
@lumene as a previous customer did they not send you an email to explain? I understand they couldn’t email non customers as they wouldn’t have their email addresses but it seems shabby to just remove people without contacting them. If you weren’t a big Facebook user or were on holiday you could just wonder where the group has gone. It makes no sense.
I'm a paying customer and was booted from the group with many others a few weeks ago under the guise of Facebook 'maintenance'. I didn't realise until there was a post about the changes on Susie's IG stating "From tonight you'll be invited..." by "you'll" she meant the members of the Facebook group where she made the announcement and linked to the new apps, the same group that hundreds of us had been removed from already in prep for this weekend's shutdown. One can only presume that this means those removed, including paying customers, are not invited?

The whole thing has been shockingly handled. Imagine for a moment what this could do to someone's mental health; to have paid for a service and suddenly be disinvited from joining its future and removed from a support community without a moment's notice. I've only managed to see the last post from the group before they commenced mass deletion because it's been shared elsewhere.

Apart from the above sh*tshow, where can one actually read about what's going on? Barely a thing on the SBS website, nothing on the business Facebook page until 15 minutes ago! SBS Instagram has gone mute with content removed. Appalling.

@Ellapaella

I'm surprised they didn't email their paying customers as well. It goes go to show the Fb group was their main way of keeping in touch with their customers - it's pretty poor to just delete the group and not archive it as well. The new FB group that's been set up is great, it's good to have more honest chat and I see a lot of people are questioning their analysis. I was analysed as a an autumn and while I can totally see why (in my photos I do seem to have the classic colouring) I have often wondered whether I could be a warm spring and would have liked to ask that 'out loud' without being critical. I could never have done that on the old FB group as I'd probably have been kicked off.
I agree, I much prefer the atmosphere in the new Facebook group! Feels much more open and less censored.
Mustnotbeleftblank · 06/09/2020 11:41

I've always really enjoyed SBS content; from Susie's IG and the Facebook group. Posts on both sold me and countless others an analysis.

I do not understand this stepchange approach that appears to have been masterminded by a person whose solitary claim to 'business growth' or 'hustling' is outraging Myleene Klass by pouring beer from a dead ferret in 2010.WTF?!

It's 2020 and we're still in a pandemic. What posesses a business to delete 14k+ existing or potential customers and reduce their reach to just 670 who've transferred to the new platform?

I hope she knows what she's doing.

Brogues · 06/09/2020 11:41

It is a breath of fresh air allowing people to question (and understand) their analysis on the new Facebook group.

Atalune · 06/09/2020 12:00

Thank you@FairykittyCake

SallieSallow · 06/09/2020 12:02

I’ve been booted from the Facebook group, I’m not much of a one for social media (especially since the pandemic started) but I did like to peek in every now and again and got some good ideas from other members on there. If it hadn’t been for this thread I wouldn’t have a clue what was going on and just presumed I was too much of a lurker to be worth keeping, despite being a paying customer.

I could afford to join Patreon but won’t be signing up, like many others I was disappointed with my generic cut & paste analysis that completely ignored a lot of of the information I gave them (ie no costume jewellery as I’m allergic) and think they got my season completely wrong.

Having now done some research myself I think I’m a true neutral that can wear some (but not all) colours from all the seasons. I was analysed as autumn and those colours are the ones that suit me least as anything that pulls yellow makes me look ill/jaundiced. My skin is medium/pale olive but sallow/ashy rather than warm, though to be strictly fair to SBS I don’t think it’s particularly easy to pick that up from a photo.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 06/09/2020 12:04

@Brogues - "It is a breath of fresh air allowing people to question (and understand) their analysis on the new Facebook group."

I agree!! I've found it really interesting especially the bit about skin tone and what the other stylists in there have to say. I wanted to ask about skin tone and people analysis in here, but I've started another thread on that Because I think it would get lost in here. But it's so nice to see an engaging discussion rather than 'you're this - end of discussion'

One really good thing is the distinction everyone is talking about on there within colour groups. It makes you realise how utterly basic the advice from SBS was. If anyone ever posted about colours admin would always pipe up with some stuff about 'owning your style' 'not having to rigidly stick to colours' in a rather stern manner. Then it got to the point posts just weren't approved. It was all just to cover their practice of carbon copy generic advice.
Geggs · 06/09/2020 13:12

I see they’ve opened up a business page that you can like and follow and it looks like they’ll post updates on there.

. . If it's the main Styled by Susie business page you're referring to, that page has always been there. It was what her group was linked to. I suspect she'll be making that page more active now as she very rarely posted on there

I really love that there are several opinions on the new group and not one cult leader who's word is final.

MrsSchadenfreude · 06/09/2020 15:46

There seems to be a new Sisterhood page as well?

GinandGingerBeer · 06/09/2020 16:07

That's the FB group which was set up by some members after SBS announced they were moving to a members only group @MrsSchadenfreude.
I like it. I'm more inclined to post a picture of myself on the new sisterhood unofficial page. as I think I'm more likely to get honest feedback.
I still can't believe they've actually kissed goodbye to all those members. I honestly thought she'd come to her senses and do a u turn.

MrsSchadenfreude · 06/09/2020 16:30

I think it was the residue of the old one - it’s gone now.

kevinn · 06/09/2020 16:38

I'm trying to work out why Susie is silent on Instagram.

Geggs · 06/09/2020 17:17

@kevinn because of the backlash i expect. Focusing on patreon and discord.

She deleted some pics and some highlights from her Instagram, so she’s obviously trying to keep it more style focused and I think it’s unlikely she’ll address anything further.

bananaface16 · 06/09/2020 18:36

I just don’t understand why they’ve decided to use Discord as their messaging app rather than setting up a dedicated password only forum of some kind - it’s essentially chat rooms. How can you have discussions if there’s just an endless stream of chatter (Albeit split into different body shapes etc etc.)?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 06/09/2020 18:49

I use discord for games chat and yeah its impossible to catch up on general chat unless you are tagged. Its such an odd choice. I'm baffled why they didn't just have a private members only facebook group.

Good because now she hasn't outed her own sons name , at least in her stories. The 'backlash' against moving to patreon /Discord could have been managed so easily. There was no need to make up outright lies that people were screenshotting and posting pictures of members on forums or posting false reviews on TP.

Ironfloor269 · 06/09/2020 19:49

@OrangeCinnamon1 - but she did out her son's name in Daily Mail. That article is still there online.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 06/09/2020 20:18

@kevinn

I'm trying to work out why Susie is silent on Instagram.
. . She had double the amount of followers on IG than she did on FB. So for those that don't follow her on FB and didn't witness themselves what a shit storm her announcement caused, they're all going to be wondering what the hell is going on with her. So bad I can't even believe it 🤦🏼‍♀️
