I had a gold analysis recently and was a bit disappointed by the copy and paste feel but there was useful info in there too. I think maybe my expectations were set too high by the people in the FB group raving about how great it was and how it had changed their life.

I've been a member of the FB group a while and actually found it because it was recommended by someone on here. I joined and liked seeing people's outfits and because of the great accolades decided to buy an analysis

I'm sure there are many more like me who found SBS this way. Otherwise I would never have heard of her or bought the package.

It does seem a very surprising business decision to close down all that free advertising as I'm sure it will reduce her business.

If there are pathetic people bullying her then surely she just needs her admins to delete and block and not read the stuff. Anyone in the public eye is going to get abuse by some idiots and I think doing this is a bit cutting off her nose to spite her face

Could she have not paid for more admins? I wonder how much revenue she will have lost as a result of this?

Obviously if people on here or tatler have been saying nasty things about her personally that's not on and a bit sad tbh but all I've seen is people querying their analysis or others. Haven't seen any pics being put up to be mocked.

Also if there are people that are doing bullying surely paying 6 pounds a month won't stop them if they want to join the new group and screen shot photos they can still post on anonymous forums?

It's a shame because I liked the group and may well have gone on to book an online shop or hair analysis but I think now I won't bother as I don't want to be tied in to paying 72 quid a year

To be fair though it must be hard running a business that has escalated so quickly and she probably did not really know what to do but I think she has been poorly advised

wheft · 04/09/2020 10:34

Also there was a really inflammatory post by an admin on the FB group recently which got taken down quickly which came across as criticising those who wouldn't join the new group which I thought was very unprofessional

It's all a bit school playground now it seems and doesn't reflect well on her business

OrangeCinnamon1 · 04/09/2020 10:35

I suspect the poster is trying to mske it look like what they are saying is true ...how covenient that they refer to threads and posts that no longer exists or other forums. Stop trying to paint US as the trolls ...this is my main complaint with the business ...the lies and disingenuous nature within which they operate. It makes me so angry when SBS put stuff in their stories alluding that mumsnet has allowed photos of other members to be laughed at and outted her sons name...nkthing could be further than the truth but at this time it suits SBS to be a victim.

Mumsnet is not a premoderated forum ....out of the thousands of posters you get trolls then we report the posts, then the posts get removed. Sometimes posts get removed for legal reasons too.

If anyone read this thread properly they'd realise that most of the posters were members of The Tribe/Sisterhood great way to treat your customers

OrangeCinnamon1 · 04/09/2020 10:36

@Mamagotskills

Ps *@Bekindnotabully people are giving HER 1 reviews, they are giving the business 1* reviews
Great way to make out that the 1* reviews are not genuine though isnt it.
MrsSchadenfreude · 04/09/2020 10:37

@Bekindnotabully as another person has said, people did write to her. People were booted off the FB page - some of whom had paid quite a lot of money to Susie for the services of her business - for disagreeing or criticising. One of the unpaid admins was appallingly rude and passive aggressive to me. I’m also surprised that a business was using unpaid admins in the FB page - how is that fair?

It seems to me that Susie really, really needs to learn to separate herself from her business and not take every criticism of her business as a personal insult. As I said, it’s a great concept.

abcyouandme · 04/09/2020 10:37

@happyandloved in a previous thread you described the analysis you received from SBS in 2015 as really detailed and informative. It seems odd you complained if that was the case?

Adwodeabo · 04/09/2020 10:51

Why not write to susie with constructive criticism? Not bombing her with 1 star reviews
To be fair - it sounds like the unhappy customers did do that, and they were at best ignored or blocked, and at worst threatened with legal action if they dared to leave a negative review. Now they appear to have found strength in numbers and are speaking out.

If you've got nothing nice to say , say nothing
This right here is the problem. It’s reasonable for an unhappy customer to politely make a complaint. They shouldn’t have to “be kind” by saying nothing. Good customer service is about addressing complaints, not silencing them.

@happyandloved fair enough that makes sense.

Ironfloor269 · 04/09/2020 11:33

@Bekindnotabully did you actually read the thread? Did you not see that many women complained and Susie replied with defensive replies, calling these women bullies? I read on a Tattle thread that when one woman complained, Susie threatened her with a lawsuit (on defamation, god know which gives her legal advice, probably the same person who gives her marketing advice!) if she ever leaves a poor review online. Susie had, in fact, told her that she knows her address and other personal details (through online payment). What do you call that, @Bekindnotabully??
What's your answer to that?

Ironfloor269 · 04/09/2020 11:34

*who not which

HumousWhereTheHeartIs · 04/09/2020 12:04

@Bekindnotabully I just want to say again that we are a group of people who paid for a service and were disappointed. We were confused and surprised when the group changed to have a paid subscription. Styled by Susie has thousands of happy customers. But those who feel disappointed - and it would seem we are in the minority - have no recourse. There isn't a single business in the world that has 100% satisfied customers.

The fact you mention that Susie's whole family is supported by the business is proof that some people aren't separating the business from the person. If you were to send back your soup in a restaurant you don't stop to consider the chef's family - you would just want to be satisfied with what you paid for.
I really hope Susie is okay. Hopefully she can take the criticism and turn things round, deal with complaints well and be more honest about things.

LoriesGar · 04/09/2020 12:56

@Bekindnotabully

I’ve got a simple question for you; if you’ve spent money on a service that fails to deliver to your expectations (which are formed by the advertising of the service), and the service provider refuses to resolve your concerns (by ignoring you and/or dismissing you), what would you do? Walk away and chalk it up to a donation? For some women who talk of saving up for an analysis, this is a big sum of money.

If your answer is “nothing” or “preach kindness”, SBS’ unsatisfied customers are ready to give you their bank account details for you to make ‘donations’.

I don’t believe that everyone on here or other forums want the business ruined. It’s a good business idea but it needs improvement including a better customer feedback process (not blocking people, ignoring complaints or dismissing customers), better quality PDFs, and truly bespoke analysis. I feel I barred myself in what I wrote in the form and the photos I shared. Now I feel foolish and misled, and the alleged copy / paste of analyses feels insulting. There’s an element of trust in personal services.

IndecentFeminist · 04/09/2020 13:01

To be fair, it was Susie who pushed wanting people to review. That means good as well as bad. Or are only the bad ones false?

What's the name of the spi off FB group? I've ot been booted out of the sisterhood yet, so was interested to see the new one.

YettaTessieMarmelstein · 04/09/2020 13:40

I started to doubt myself so I reread the basic bitches guide I bought ages ago. I’m more confused now about who the company’s target market is. It is a list of casual clothes to buy which isn’t me at all so they can’t be aiming at me. But now I understand why everyone on the page thinks they need white trainers.
But saying that isn’t bullying. It’s an opinion.

Ironfloor269 · 04/09/2020 13:50

@SuperSange it's called Style Sisterhood

So glad I found this thread, I've been so annoyed about this for about a year. I bought the gold package 18mths ago and received, what I thought at the time, was a really tailored and informative document. I wasn't too impressed with the google images but found the information helpful. When I started trying to put it into practice though I struggled....I just couldn't see how these colours and styles suited me and my shape. I persevered though as so many on the Facebook page seemed so happy and transformed.

Then a year ago I bought the same package for my best friend. I was gobsmacked. Her "analysis" was word for word a copy of mine. We went through it and there was not a single word/punctuation mark that was different. So much for a tailored and well thought out service Hmm

I complained several times but was completely ignored. This thread has really opened my eyes and I wish I'd followed through with complaining more or escalating. So disappointing but I've since gone to a more professional stylist and been coloured/styled and I can see how done right it is a brilliant thing. I'm so much more confident now but I'm still really pissed off that I paid for something that was so poor!!

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/09/2020 14:19

One of Susie’s stylists appears to be in the new group I think?

Atalune · 04/09/2020 14:28

There is a really weird narrative around this which seems to be-

People crit the business and historic complaints that hadn’t been dealt with are now coming out again
SBS feels personally attacked
SBS historically had flown under the radar with not dealing with complaints well. This is now out in the open as she’s poked the bear and people aren’t having it.

SBS has been economical with the truth at best it would seem. And now the chickens are coming home to roost.

The SBS admins have been very quick with their deletions and moderations. And people are not happy.

SBS wants everyone to stop it.
SBS has launched a new platform and so this level of crit is BAD TIMING. And let’s be honest it feels like a proper rush job to try and sweep everything under the carpet and start new.

People don’t like being duped.

The one thing I will say though is that the PDFs might not be your style but the writing style and language is definitely on brand SBS and perhaps people should let that one go. ASOS customer service has a very similar “voice” which as a mid 40s woman drives me nuts, but I realise that’s their “voice”

EwwwDavid · 04/09/2020 14:28

Yes Emily...there was much debate about it yesterday...all a bit odd I think!
