Haircut disaster

I had my haircut on Sunday and the hairdresser has made a complete and utter balls up of it. I'm going back tomorrow to see the most senior/experienced stylist to see if he can do anything with it. Can any hairdressers on here advise me what he might suggest, or what I can suggest? Pics attached. First two is the haircut from hell, second two are what I showed the hairdresser to describe what I wanted.

Shall I start panic buying hats?

That’s pretty terrible! Did you pay?

BadDucks · 04/08/2020 22:26

Good grief that is really quite bad. I've posted my own thread today about a crap hair cut it would seem hairdressers have lost their skills over lockdown.

I think a pixie cut might be the only way forward and then go to a better salon that can help shape it whilst you grow it out. I've grown out a pixie cut before and it is possible to grow it out whilst keeping a decent style. Just takes a while.

Timeforredwine · 04/08/2020 22:28

Hi oh dear the hairdresser hasn't cut your hair into the style of any of those pics you showed! Not sure if you already had layers but I cant see what has been followed. I'm not a hairdresser but I would definitely see senior member for free. Nothing wrong with your pic BUT it certainly does not resemble what you asked for!

userxx · 04/08/2020 22:35

Time is your friend. Those layers will grow out quickly.

MadgeMak · 04/08/2020 22:35

I'd already paid upfront via their online booking system. And I actually didn't realise how bad it was initially because the original stylist had basically used loads of product to plaster down all the sticky up bits. She flashed the mirror at the back for just a few seconds and whilst I'd clocked that it was probably shorter than I'd asked for she had said during the cut that she was going "cut some weight out of it" because I have very thick hair, and that "it's kinking a little because it needs time to settle". I realise now she was probably just trying to cover her monumental fuck up.

When I got home my husband said that it looked like I'd been prepped for brain surgery!

That's pretty bad. I'm sorry. Hopefully the new stylist will be able to do something with it.

MadgeMak · 04/08/2020 22:38

Those pictures are after I've spent ages trying to flatten it with the hair dryer. See below for the absolute state of it left to air dry.

I've been laughing about it, and I know it'll grow, but I'm actually quite upset and angry too.

"Prepped for brain surgery" oh god that made me laugh. I hope you get it sorted out.

Chuly · 04/08/2020 22:48

If it's any consolation, I think it will be quite easy to grow into the style you ACTUALLY wanted. If it were me, I wouldn't do anything other than let it grow out a bit (of course, you can still complain/ request money back).

You're right, it is only hair though- I got my best ever style ie the one that really suited me the most, from growing out an ill advised pixie cut.

dudsville · 05/08/2020 09:28

Your partner wins comedy line of the day!

Sexnotgender · 05/08/2020 09:33

I’d be livid, that’s a terrible haircut!

Hope they give you your money back and fix it for you.

Handbaghag · 05/08/2020 09:43

Oh OP I'm so sorry. Not a hairdresser but it's obvious this is cut incorrectly. Please let us know how you get on.

Bloodylush · 05/08/2020 09:45

Lol at your husband’s comment.

Not good but tbh I would let it grow. I can’t see how another cut will help as the top layers are very short.

PatchworkElmer · 05/08/2020 09:45

Good grief, I’m not surprised you’re upset. Hope you’re able to get it tidied up- and it will grow out quickly.

nitgel · 05/08/2020 09:50

Was it long to start with?

WouldBeGood · 05/08/2020 09:52

Oh, @MadgeMak that’s not a good haircut! I’d definitely go back and see the senior stylist and at very least get your money back, and free new cut. Though it’s so short maybe just growing it is the answer. When I got a horrible cut (and colour!) I used hair bands and accessories to disguise it a bit. There’s loads around now. Hopefully a hairdresser on here will be able to advise better.

TwentyViginti · 05/08/2020 09:55

I'd let it grow out - then find another hairdresser!

Spied · 05/08/2020 09:58

Oh dear...

MikeUniformMike · 05/08/2020 12:03

Don't forget to give them a review.
Maybe you could name and shame them here.

MadgeMak · 05/08/2020 12:25

Was it long to start with?

No, it was a bob all one length about an inch below my chin. I would have thought it was a fairly straightforward job to shorten and layer TBH.

Salvage appointment is later this afternoon, I will update once I'm done.

Knittedfairies · 05/08/2020 12:50

It needs to grow out a bit, but the senior stylist definitely needs to see your do, and then give you back your money.

RonaldMcDonaldio · 05/08/2020 12:51

OMG Madge, I'm moaning about my stupid hair and feeling a bit disgruntled with it at the moment but jeez, what a terrible hatchet job. Poor you, that's awful - I had a bad cut from bob to shortish a few years back and the stylist messed it up, but it didn't really become fully apparent until it grew out - yours is terribly obvious. Sad

Fingers crossed something can be done to make it more presentable while it grows back. Honestly it's bloody criminal, how can they let you leave with that!

"Prepared for brain surgery" hahahaha!

optimisticpessimist01 · 05/08/2020 14:45

I wouldn't even bother trying to get it restyled. Possibly see if the stylist can even it out more whilst it grows out but you need to get your money back. If they refuse threaten with bad publicity.

Although your husband sounds like a good laugh so silver linings!

userxx · 05/08/2020 15:08

what a terrible hatchet job. Poor you, that's awful

It's not that bad !!
