Haircut disaster

MadgeMak · 04/08/2020 22:18

I had my haircut on Sunday and the hairdresser has made a complete and utter balls up of it. I'm going back tomorrow to see the most senior/experienced stylist to see if he can do anything with it. Can any hairdressers on here advise me what he might suggest, or what I can suggest? Pics attached. First two is the haircut from hell, second two are what I showed the hairdresser to describe what I wanted.

Shall I start panic buying hats?

@userxx yes it is that bad! Poor OP!
What was the stylist thinking?!

CrystalMaisie · 05/08/2020 15:37

I would ask to postpone the salvage haircut for 6/8 weeks time, give it time to grow a bit!

BadDucks · 05/08/2020 15:55

It really is that bad I think the OP knows that already though so won’t be offended it’s not like she chose it!

I disagree about leaving it to grow though o would get it restyled and then start to grow it out. Might take longer but I couldn’t live with that!

MikeUniformMike · 05/08/2020 15:57

I'd postpone the salvage cut for 6 to 8 months.

Feralkidsatthecampsite · 05/08/2020 15:58

Will it be the same stylist trying to salvage?

MikeUniformMike · 05/08/2020 16:07

No!

Flyinggeese · 05/08/2020 16:11

Good luck with it OP, hair disasters are awful. Glad you’ve gone back.

Your DH is comic genius, bet he’s made you smile in spite of it all.

FlibbertyGiblets · 05/08/2020 16:18

Looks like a double crown/sort of cowlick. The stylist should have known how best to take that into account.

Hope this afternoon's rescue appointment goes well.

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 05/08/2020 16:21

Hope you get it sorted OP! Your reference photos are lovely, what a shame it didn't work out. I've not been back to the hairdressers yet and thinking I might leave it a bit longer til they've remembered how to cut hair! Grin

marvels81 · 05/08/2020 16:26

Does your hair grow out of your scalp towards the left?
If so that's going to contribute to what you can have done, depending on what you do with your hair day-to-day!
I've never seen a growth pattern like that!

Mama1980 · 05/08/2020 16:41

Oh wow op, that is nothing like the picture, I hope your appointment goes well.

Hairthrowaway · 05/08/2020 16:48

I don’t think it can be salvaged unless you’re happy to have more cut off, but then you’d be moving further and further away from your target style as your hair is already too short.

FusionChefGeoff · 05/08/2020 16:57

Bloody hell. She should at least have has the professional courtesy to admit it had gone terribly wrong instead of trying to cover it up.

How did she ever think she'd get away with that??

balzamico · 05/08/2020 17:07

There's an awful lot of awful haircuts on here! I went yesterday to the place I've been going for years and my cuts not as good as usual though not terrible.
It seems they deskilled whilst off or are so distracted by the PPE they can't see straight.

VaggieMight · 05/08/2020 17:10

I'd just let it grow for a bit

MistyMinge2 · 05/08/2020 17:58

Holy cow she really fucked that up didn't she?! I'd be very pissed off and upset too. I hope you get a full refund and the cut today for free.

Londoner99 · 05/08/2020 18:16

You deserve a full refund! Challenge them, OP. Was it a junior stylist?

MadgeMak · 05/08/2020 18:29

I'm back from my salvage appointment (done by the most senior stylist) and I'm much happier. It's still not what I wanted because of course he could only work with what I had but it is much better. It's actually symmetrical and laying ok now and just looks more balanced. He has said he will offer me my next two cuts at a discounted rate.

I'm pleased you're happier with your hair; did the stylist have anything to say about his colleague's work?

DeRigueurMortis · 05/08/2020 18:36

It's a lot better OP but goodness me that first haircut was bad.

Even so I'd be expecting a bit more than a discount if I'm honest....

My start point would be my right to take my unskilled scissors to the first stylists hair or alternatively insist that the senior stylist gave them the same haircut as they gave you.....they can then appreciate the same pain of growing it out...

user1494055864 · 05/08/2020 18:37

Whaatt?? I hope you got a full refund and didn't have to pay for the fix. 2 hair cuts at a discounted rate, Angry CF

MadgeMak · 05/08/2020 19:00

He said I definitely had grounds for complaint, but didn't say anything else about the other stylist. He was very apologetic.

I wasn't offered a refund on the original cut, but didn't ask for one either, the salvage cut was at no charge of course. I do think he should have offered the next cut on the house rather than just discounted but I'm crap at negotiating that sort of thing and I guess in the current climate they might be struggling so I wimped out.

OP posts:
BadDucks · 05/08/2020 19:17

Glad you are happier with the new cut. I think that's pretty poor that they didn't refund you or offer your next cut for free because at the end of the day you still don't have the style you requested.

I would probably go elsewhere for my next cut not they deserve your custom.

madcatladyforever · 05/08/2020 19:22

I didn't want to ssay anything negative but it truly looks like its just been hacked off. What the hell were they thinking.
I'd be bloody furious.
I think you'll just have to suffer it and grow it out.
I'd sue the bastard.

RoadworksAgain · 05/08/2020 19:28

When I got home my husband said that it looked like I'd been prepped for brain surgery!

Sorry but I'm howling laughing at this Grin

I'd expect a free salvage haircut, and free regular trims until it's grown into the style you originally asked for...

OR

A free salvage haircut and a full refund on the first disastrous cut.
