@Saurus72, I have two shorter kimonos and three longer ones (be warned, the full-length ones are very long, which is not a problem for me as I’m tall, except for when I’m walking up stairs). My favourite is a double-sided brushed cotton in a plaid pattern because it feels so soft and cosy and is ageing and washing beautifully. I tend to use the shorter gowns for holidays or in the summer as they’re only mid-calf length and simply not warm enough for my draughty house in Bronte country in the winter.
I absolutely love the long, wide belts ( I favour anything oversized and despise mean, skimpy waist ties on more traditional robes. I don’t do anything fancy, I just wrap them around me a couple of times and knot them.)
One thing to be aware of with the robes is that they’re authentically styled so there are slits under the square sleeves (bonus inbuilt ventilation for peri- and menopausal women, in my book!) and you learn to roll the sleeves up several times to avoid them trailing in your morning coffee! Go for it, I’m a kimono
gown covert and they’re the first things I seek out in the Toast sales.
