Moominmammaatsea · 29/08/2020 21:17

Fight, fight, fight...Laska and Toast - it’s just like being back in that inner-city comp many decades ago. 😂

Laska2Meryls · 29/08/2020 21:41

I went to an old fashioned 'Gels' Grammar Moomin .. We was Rite Tough though.. (Naval town).. You would have not wanted to meet my form on the Hockey field! Grin

Laska2Meryls · 29/08/2020 21:44

St Trinian's had nothing on us!! Grin

Laska2Meryls · 29/08/2020 21:51

Ok Toast ....It seems that you are allowed to still live... I have just had a dispatch email from JL ..
Yay!!! GrinGrin

Countmeout · 30/08/2020 08:43

I seem to have got a post pass but I don’t know how.
And I keep missing the reduced stuff in John Lewis- not that I need anything.
Breathing a sigh of relief that no one else got Laska‘s shirt.

StyleandBeautyfail · 30/08/2020 09:53

Ive purchased the esme black denim skirt and the Elin wool gingham skirt -gulp
But Im sending back over £120 worth of horrible thin merino from another retailer -who shall not be named--
Awful stuff.
There is another thread running about what will happen to the high street.
I think we are going to see a return to better quality, less fast fashion but increased prices.
Suits me.
Im a sewer and knitter so I love quality fabrics and yarn.

slipperyeel · 30/08/2020 10:01

I’ve just ordered a second Bea nightdress. It is the best nightdress I’ve ever owned. So soft, covers my shoulders (which get cold at night) and I wouldn’t mind answering the door in it. Well worth full price imo.

StyleandBeautyfail · 30/08/2020 10:39

Oh thats beautiful slipper which colour did you get?

slipperyeel · 30/08/2020 11:28

I’ve got the grey and have ordered the blue. I suspect the pink might be making its way over at some point too! They have pyjamas in the same material but I love a nightdress and it’s rare to find such lovely ones.

Laska2Meryls · 30/08/2020 12:15

style I love the gingham skirt, do please post a photo when it arrives..
Slippery I bought the bamboo nightdresses in last summer sale ( and the vest tops) in both colours and use them all the time .. Also the gingham pjs in this pne.. Love Toast nightwear ..

StyleandBeautyfail · 30/08/2020 15:27

StyleandBeautyfail · 30/08/2020 20:07

Eeek Laska not sure if Im comfortable with pics Blush
Ive repaired a torn underarm on a Fenn, Wright Manson wool crepe dress thats been sat unworn for a couple of winters and taken up 2 pairs of smart work trousers that were too long (v unusual for me as Im tall)
Smile

Moominmammaatsea · 30/08/2020 21:01

@StyleandBeautyfail, have you checked out the mending workshops that are upcoming on the Toast website? They could be right up your street! Is anyone else signed up? I’m particularly looking forward to the Graham St autumn styling event.

@slipperyeel, what’s the sizing like on your nightdress/es? I’m very partial to beautiful and comfortable loungewear/nightwear (at last count, I own five Toast kimono gowns, all of them bought in sales, and all of them worn absolutely to the death).

Is there anyone north of the border here? We are in Edinburgh on Tuesday and Wednesday and I’m wondering if the Toast store is worth a pilgrimage? Also, we’ve booked into the National Gallery, the National Museum and the National Gallery of Modern Art, but I’d really appreciate some suggestions of fun things to do for a toddler and a teenager (we’ve been to Edinburgh Zoo five times in the last three years so we’re going to give it a miss this time).

Moominmammaatsea · 30/08/2020 21:03

@StyleandBeautyfail, I’ve just taken a peek at your wool gingham skirt and I love it!

StyleandBeautyfail · 30/08/2020 21:07

@Moominmammaatsea
Im a veteran sewer just lazy but thank you for the suggestion.
Ive hoiked out 2 pairs of linen culottes and a top thats a tiny bit too big to sort out next.
I fell head over heels with the skirt .
Can wait for it to arrive

Moominmammaatsea · 30/08/2020 21:08

@Uponmytiptoes, ooh, there’s royalty among us! 😂 I was part of the Kindred club for a while (without knowing about it) and I was perplexed, and delighted, one day to receive a furoshiki (I think that’s right?) bag in an ikat pattern, which was subsequently snaffled by my teenager. I seem to have been kicked out of the club (I defected to JL to buy my Toast goodies there) but I’m stupidly happy to have had my PostPass reinstated.

slipperyeel · 30/08/2020 21:13

@Moominmammaatsea I find the nightdress more true to size than toast usually is. I’m usually a 10 or 12 in toast dresses but I like a medium in the night gowns. Possibly because, well, who wants to wear something tight fitting to bed?

Countmeout · 30/08/2020 21:43

@Moominmammaatsea I’m not from Edinburgh but remember going to a toy museum (hope I didn’t imagine it was Edinburgh-was it in the Royal Mile) which was interesting.

Laska2Meryls · 31/08/2020 09:11

Ooh talking of Toast shops there are none near me and I have never been to one.. but we are going to York in a couple of weeks and I have just seen that they have one there !! Hooray ! ..

Laska2Meryls · 31/08/2020 09:13

Moominmama very envious of your Toast gowns ..

ilovecherries · 31/08/2020 09:37

The Edinburgh shop isn’t huge (but I don’t think any of them are, anyway). It’s in a lovely part of the city though, I can easily just poke around that area for a good few hours at a time.

@Countmeout, we love the Museum of Childhood, but it is still Covid-closed, sadly. Laska, you should definitely seek out the Margaret Howell outlet shop at the McArthur Glen designer village while you’re in York. (re: my gowns, I take my comfort seriously and hate wearing day clothes unless out and about! The kimono gowns cover a multitude of sins and always look smart even if there’s a surprise knock at the door.)

cherries, I’ll definitely seek out the Toast shop while I’m there (I’ll bribe the children with the promise of sugar to give me a few minutes of browsing time.)

Moominmammaatsea · 31/08/2020 10:21

By the way, there was a little flurry of sale bargains on the JL site very early this morning. I managed to order the denim side button dress (still £140 on Toast) in a size 10 for £42. Super happy!

Laska2Meryls · 31/08/2020 11:06

Bingo Moominmama ! Hope you love it.. I am now done with JL Toast ( assuming that the poplin shirt is fine , I reckon that it will be. I have the black in the M and its fine, I probably could have had the S just as well though..
