@DameCelia So has the lovely purple dress arrived and does it work?! I also have it - haven’t worn it anywhere yet, though we are hoping to book a table at Sat Bains restaurant in September so it’s being lined up for that. Fingers crossed it works out for your event🤞

goldpendant · 11/08/2020 16:13

I'm venturing out to a local town today to meet a friend, there's a TOAST shop there, I'm going to have to try on my current want dress!

Countmeout · 11/08/2020 16:34

I love that dress @goldpendant
If you get the chance can you feel this jumper for me please
www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+knitwear/canag-capch/mira+wool+cashmere+sweater.htm?clr=CANAG_Pumpkin_sw
I’m interested to know if it’s soft or scratchy.

goldpendant · 11/08/2020 16:52

Yes will do @Countmeout

goldpendant · 11/08/2020 17:56

Confirming the jumper is lovely and soft @Countmeout !

Dottty · 11/08/2020 17:57

I am also wondering if the dress has arrived and you are delighted @DameCelia. I called in JL on the way home from work to see if they still had some honeycomb dresses as they had had quite a few. Luckily they had two - an 8 and a 14 so I bought the 14 which is lovely. I plan to wear wither with my Lofina wedges or my green Adidas trainers as they have an orange strip in the sole. I looked at the new collection and fell in love with the ribbed yolk easy sweater in marigold. It is in my basket awaiting a code.

Countmeout · 11/08/2020 18:05

Thank you @goldpendant. It’s on my list

Dottty · 12/08/2020 17:48

Some great final reductions on the Grenson website...... sorry!

Moominmammaatsea · 15/08/2020 20:07

@DameCelia, how did your event go? And how was your beautiful dress? Did you find the right shoes for you?

Just wondering how my fellow Toasties are?

Is anyone else guilty of reordering garments they’d sent back to the JL/Toast sales?

I ordered the Juniper linen half sleeve jumper, initially loved it, but wondered if I’d properly get the wear out of it, so I sent it back. And then spied the same jumper (in burgundy - last year’s version?) on a very stylish older woman in the Tate Modern, and instantly regretted returning it. I stalked the JL site, managed to re-order the Juniper jumper in the right size and now I wouldn’t be without it.

goldpendant · 16/08/2020 00:19

Doing well! Enjoyed my visit to the TOAST shop but disappointed with the dress I'd been lusting after - it looks pink/turquoise in the photos but is actually more red/blue.

They did however have the cream linen sleeveless dress in my size but at £180 I can't justify!

Gonegrey31 · 16/08/2020 10:18

I sent back then re-ordered the stone linen jumpers in both shirt and long sleeved . So pleased I changed my mind .
I have a John Lewis account and have had an email offering 20% off all womenswear with the code MYFASHION
Online or App only . Valid for a week I think .
Not as good as the sale but every little helps ....

Dottty · 16/08/2020 11:16

@Gonegrey31. Thanks for that. Just checked my emails and I have also got a 20% off code from JL. Have ordered that marigold jumper I have been dreaming about. @Moominmammaatsea I also have that Juniper jumper and love it too.

ilovecherries · 16/08/2020 16:38

Can’t remember who it was on these threads who recommended the BoF podcasts, but I’ve really been enjoying them - listen to a couple every morning while running. So thanks!

I had the Juniper jumper, but sent it back - mine had a peculiar chemical smell that I knew would drive me crazy if I couldn’t get rid of it. I do however have the long sleeve cotton/linen jumpers in bone and olive and the shirt sleeve in bone and spice so I’m not claiming a lot of virtue.

I’ve ordered a couple of things from Mother of Pearl and NYRB after seeing them on SilverClothesLine and ThatsNotMyAge.

So thanks for the code gonegrey. I had had these things in my basket at JL for a couple of weeks, the code was enough to push the button! Don’t know why I didn’t get one, but thanks for posting, it worked fine.

I’m disappointed to hear about that dress too @goldpendant. I thought the colours looked lovely online.
And thank you too for the code @Gonegrey31 I was humming and haaing over. Few things in JL too, so I’ve sent for some including the Toast T-shirt in pumpkin.

Moominmammaatsea · 16/08/2020 21:53

@Dottty, I think part of the attraction of the half-sleeve jumper for me is the colour name; who could not adore a jumper in the shade of juniper?! Every time I wear it, I amuse myself by loudly declaring in my best Victoria Wood voice that I’m about to wear my ‘juniper jumper’. Blush. I clearly need to get out more when lockdown restrictions are over.

On the subject of glorious colours, my younger DD has the middle name Marigold, just like the lovely knit you’ve just bought!

DameCelia · 17/08/2020 12:47

Hello, thank you to those who asked about the dress, it arrived, I wore it and loved it, and there was someone else in the same dress! She looked fab and we had a quick chat, she's not a MNer (yet).
I had some black shoes with circular cut it's and a plain black clutch which worked perfectly, along with a jaeger trench coat in case of rain.
It was a wonderful day and the dress was really comfy, even when my husband trapped it in the hinge of his tip down seat Grin.
I'm currently dithering about the blue leather trainers for autumn.

DameCelia · 17/08/2020 12:49

Oh and the Swedish Hasbeens are wonderful, I nearly wore a high light tan pair with my dress. Off to check out the sale.

Moominmammaatsea · 17/08/2020 16:05

Just to say that there are a few sale dregs in the JL site now - and you can use the 20pc off code for an extra reduction! I’ve snapped up the swingy linen stripe jumper in the berry shade for a bargainous £31.20!

Saurus72 · 17/08/2020 18:08

Thanks for that tip - I didn’t even think to try it with sale stuff. I’ve just ordered a red Whistles dress, with discount it’s £37 down from £159! 77% discount, yes!

ToastCosILoveIt · 17/08/2020 18:57

Fellow Toast lovers, can you advise me on size. The Cotton Twill Blue INDIGO PLEAT FRONT TROUSERS ie the Japanese inspired ones. i know that you can move the buttons (ie take off and resew) to tighten or loosen but my question is, could i go down a size and move the buttons (make bigger) so they fit me? i am on a perimenopausal/lockdown weightloss journey and so i think i will slim into the size I order, but just wondering how flexible they are to make bigger/smaller. I am hoping to make bigger but in the long term hope I will need to make smaller!!! x

Moominmammaatsea · 17/08/2020 19:54

@ToastCosILoveIt, I have THE trousers! I fasten mine differently to tighten them at the waist because they’re too big; there’s a double-button fastening on each side and rather than remove the buttons and re-sew them, I simply fasten the inner button hole onto the outer button. This doesn’t affect the way the trousers sit or look in any way and I never do tucking-in with any of my tops, so nobody sees the spare button hole, if you see what I mean.

I have just measured the distance (centre to centre) between the two buttons on one side of my trousers and it’s four centimetres. Plus the difference on the other side.

There’s no reason why you couldn’t fasten the trousers using the outer button hole to the inner button while you’re shrinking, to give yourself eight centimetres extra around your waist! But only if you’re not a tucker-inner like me! Grin

ToastCosILoveIt · 17/08/2020 23:33

Moomin, that is an incredibly helpful repsonse, thank you. You have spurred me on to buy tham x

AFingerofFudge · 18/08/2020 06:49

Morning all!! I have built up a small shopping basket of new season Toast at John Lewis but can't quite press the button to buy as having been spoiled with great reductions, suddenly it feels very expensive again! Does anyone know how long the MYFASHION code lasts for? It doesn't appear on my account.
In my basket are : the tie neck blouse, the yellow ribbed yoke jumper, the lilac boy t-shirt and the hemp cotton jeans.
