@ilovecherries the ginger colour is the only one of the three cord colours I like the look of. They’d work with a couple of items I suppose and I love the way they’ve styled them in the photo. I could always buy some more tops I suppose 🙊

@Moominmammaatsea that’s sooooo annoying. Somebody has maybe opened a parcel to find the size 10’s when they’d ordered the 16’s. Maybe just not meant to be though.

Moominmammaatsea · 26/07/2020 09:05

A few more bits on JL now!

AFingerofFudge · 26/07/2020 09:42

Argh! Missed it! I'd still like to get my paws on a pair of Alix slate in a 12 and some pleat front trousers!

Moominmammaatsea · 26/07/2020 09:51

@AFingerofFudge, they definitely didn’t have the pleat front trousers and I think only larger sizes in the Alix in slate.

I decided to order the cotton linen stripe dress in dark blue in the vain hope it will make up for the disappointment of being sent The Wrong Trousers!

AFingerofFudge · 26/07/2020 10:37

@Moominmammaatsea thanks, at least I don't feel like I'm missing out! I really don't need to buy anything else, I have plenty to wear, I think sometimes it's the thrill of the bargain!!!

Countmeout · 26/07/2020 13:37

What is everyone wearing on their feet ? I’m stuck in a pair or white trainer/ canvas shoes. I don’t seem to have worn sandals much at all this summer . Going forward I tried the solvair Laura derby shoes but they weren’t for me. I’d like something for late summer/autumn before getting into boots.

Saurus72 · 26/07/2020 13:48

For my daily walk I wear merino wool All Birds which are life-changingly comfy. Around the house I’ve been wearing a pair of red Saltwaters because I really didn’t want to be barefoot all the time and wearing shoes felt like some thing that would help me get ready for work and it does. I know I’m weird but I bought the Saltwaters specifically to wear in the house and nowhere else so I know I’m not tramping around in a pair with outside dirt on the carpet. Otherwise, if we go to, say, a National Trust place for a wander I’ve got flat sandals - a tan pair and a red/navy gold soil. About twice I’ve worn wedge espadrilles. I’ve got a pair of Birkenstocks by the back door so I can slip them on togo out into the garden. Which is what I’ve done today - reading the Sunday paper with my feet up Smile

@Saurus72 - that is exactly what I hope to do once I've got home from Waitrose (collecting indigo twill trousers) and cut the grass. There haven't been enough sunny days lately!

The Kin dungarees were an odd shape so they're going back so I think I will put the dungaree urge on the back burner for a while.

@Countmeout - were the Solovair shoes very heavy? Or was there another reason why you sent them back? I have been looking at them myself ...

I've been trying to eke out the sandal-wearing - even in the rain . Feet get very hot in trainers (I have fit flop rally and Springcourt). Currently wearing some very chunky fugly minimalist fit flop slides and a couple of pairs of their new wedge heels which are amazing and bouncy and so so comfortable - a bit like wearing little trampolines!

Saurus72 · 26/07/2020 14:16

Just ordered a couple more things from JL:

www.johnlewis.com/toast-cotton-twill-workwear-skirt-dull-gold/p4883344

And

www.johnlewis.com/toast-stripe-easy-jumper-blue-multi/p4831335

£67 for both so bargains. We’ll see if they show up and are the sizes I ordered 😉

Moominmammaatsea · 26/07/2020 14:19

@Countmeout, nowt wrong with a white sneaker! I love my Common Project Achilles (the ultimate clean & sneak white trainer) and my navy/trim Veja V10s. My trusty Saltwaters haven’t had many outings in July (the weather has been pretty miserable where we are). I’m also getting plenty of wear out of my Oboz walking boots as the girls and I are in the hills pretty much every day.

Saurus72 · 26/07/2020 14:20

@faustina Yep, weather v changeable so getting some sun while we can. We completely re-did our garden including ripping out old decking and then building new during the first couple of months of lockdown which as a really good achievement but back-breaking work. So now sitting here enjoying it every time we can!

Moominmammaatsea · 26/07/2020 14:21

That should say ‘sleek’ not ‘sneak’!

Alsohuman · 26/07/2020 14:23

I’ve been alternating two pairs of Adidas Sleek - one white, the other pink with a red sole. The latter, while looking as if they wouldn’t go with anything much, have turned out to look good with almost everything I own.

goldpendant · 26/07/2020 14:52

@Alsohuman I've been eyeing up some Adidas sleek too - they are lovely, a nice dressy trainer! I think I'll get a pair....

ellequick · 26/07/2020 15:16

Another lurker stepping from the shadows here to say how much I have enjoyed this thread and that I now possibly have a Toast addiction. Wish I could get to a store to try a load more stuff on, but so far the things I have kept are the linen T-shirt, the blue linen stripe jumper and the green cross hatch dress which I adore but am very much struggling to match shoes or boots with. Could I ask what others who own this one wear on their feet? Shall try to attach a photo here although unfortunately not full length...

Saurus72 · 26/07/2020 15:24

Fab dress! I’ve got the linen t-shirt too (from JL?) and I love it. I don’t have your green dress, but I do have another green dress from Toast, v similar shade, that I wear with a pair of burgundy knee boots or tan knee boots in A/W. For summer, would tan sandals work?

Moominmammaatsea · 26/07/2020 15:27

@ellequick, welcome! Sorry I can’t really help as I don’t have the Crosshatch but I just wanted to say how amazing it looks on you. I think a few folks here (Railings for one?) have it so I hope you’ll get the advice you need soon.

Alsohuman · 26/07/2020 15:33

@goldpendant, they’re lovely trainers. As you say, on the dressy side and supremely comfortable. You need to go up in size a little - I normally wear a 4 but 4.5 is a perfect fit in those. I want a navy pair now but they seem to be out of stock everywhere.

faustina · 26/07/2020 15:37

@ellequick - that dress is perfect on you!

goldpendant · 26/07/2020 15:44

Yes I found a pair on sale in schuh but the 6 was too small!

applecatchers36 · 26/07/2020 15:46

Elle the dress is gorgeous and suits you so well ( well what you can see of hair colour etc..)

On subject of footwear with my new dress the blue ikat wrap, have been wearing white converse or black Birkenstock sandals so quite casual to mix up what could be quite a smart dress. This works well on school and nursery run and is all super comfy

Dottty · 26/07/2020 15:53

With regards to footwear I am a fan of Camper and am wearing their Courb trainer in off white at the moment. Currently on sale on asos with extra 20% off if using the app. www.asos.com/camper/camper-courb-trainer-in-white-leather/prd/13743894?colourwayid=16562438&SearchQuery=camper

I have to say I am loving wearing my Alix trousers in desert. These have to be the most flattering trousers for my shape I have ever owned and a hoping to get hold of a pair in slate too. I love them.

I picked up my best bargains in the sale today. Was retaining a few items to JL when I spied a gold silk velvet dress in size 14. Original price was £245 and the lowest markdown was £73. When I got to pay for it, it was £49 so well chuffed with it.

Dottty · 26/07/2020 16:06

*returned

Saurus72 · 26/07/2020 16:13

@Dottty Wow! You’ve got to love an 80% discount!

Gymntonic · 26/07/2020 17:15

@ellequick I've just ordered that dress. It might be a tad big, but if I keep it, I'll be thinking of shoes too. Is it winter weight? The colours make me think it should be but viscose can be a number of weights. I'm a 43 in shoes so I'll probably end up pairing it with something brown and a bit substandardHmm
