Hmmm @neveradullmoment99 - I'd love to say the face covering is a great idea, but £9.50, to make my own, from an off cut of fabric.... that feels a bit steep! Granted proceeds go to the craft council, but still a bit steep!

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2020 22:43

Yes, I agree. It is pricey!

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2020 22:56

I cant be bothered sewing it but that's me. I suppose its a nice little gift for someone who likes that kind of thing.

Spottyegg · 23/07/2020 23:39

@Moominmammaatsea I think the Judes are lovely, but agree that I would not wear them every day - but for work/dressy casual, great. For £50 maybe that’s enough?

Countmeout · 24/07/2020 07:08
I, too, am disappointed you have to sew them. I did make a mask but it’s not brilliant. I bought the Boden ones which I like, nice ear elastics and I was lucky with the colours and patterns I got.
Dottty · 24/07/2020 07:19

I have to agree far too expensive to have to construct the masks. I would pay £9.50 for ready to wear masks.

Laska2Meryls · 24/07/2020 07:21

I bought some from Baujken 10 pack - best value ones I found and all gingham/ stripes with metal nose wire and they came in nice colours..

Ordered a Kin black Japanese workwear jacket this morning .. 2 of these black jackets ( I JL utility already bought in sale and Toast Slate linen on its way) will go back ! I only need one ! Knowing me, it will be the Toast ( most expensive of course ) that ill keep !

Laska2Meryls · 24/07/2020 07:24

DH also using the Baujken as several suitably shirt like fabric so that's enough for both.. A couple of child ones inc ..

AmethystMoonShine · 24/07/2020 07:29

I think I’ll give Toast’s mask kit a miss. I’ve enough to do without sewing myself. I also got a pack from Baujken, like @Laska2Meryls.
I’ve also had masks from Rew and Vista Print, the latter are by far the best quality and have replaceable filters.

My Juniper jumper from JL arrived yesterday and is a keeper. I just saw they’re still full price on Toast! The slate linen skirt also arrived and that’s coming to live with me too Grin I have the parchment from eBay and love it. Very wearable. I’m taking the slate one away with us to Suffolk this weekend in our little Eriba caravan. In fact now I think about it, apart from dresses (they’ll get too crumpled) a lot of my packing is Toast. I’m taking my Kisawa PJs, nightie and gown too so I at least feel a bit stylish in the mornings.

Do any of you know whether John Lewis refresh their website stock at any particular time(s)? Or is it totally random? I am kicking myself for not snaffling the Alix trousers when they were in stock.

Also (cos I'm now so obsessed I'm even checking them out full price) does anyone know how the wool/cotton ones compare with the cotton/linen? Thanks Smile

Laska2Meryls · 24/07/2020 07:43

Oh you have an Eriba Amethyst 😍 how fab !! Someone in our road has one of these vans so cute !!

faustina · 24/07/2020 07:47

@Floisme - they are very irritatingly random with their refreshing times, but there's usually a gap between now and lunchtime

I didn't know they did Alix in wool/cotton. Are they machine washable? (I don't buy things that require dry cleaning)

Laska2Meryls · 24/07/2020 07:48

Flo it seems fairly random, but best check early ( thats pretty early anytime from 5.30 to about 7) in the morning , and after 9 in the evening.. I have seen the off thing poo up during the day though.. Sadly sale ends on Sunday

Laska2Meryls · 24/07/2020 07:49
@Laska2Meryls I bought these in the JL Sale: whistles linen trews - nice soft linen, good fit for my apple-shaped body
Spottyegg those are nice, good buy !

Dottty · 24/07/2020 08:22

I was woken by a very noisy milkman at 4.30. Ended up making tea and toast and checked the JL website at about 5.30. There were quite a few new additions. There was one pair of Alix in the Desert colour in 16. I am a 14 so they will probably be too big but I think I suit the trousers without pleats around the tummy more so will await them - am collecting from JL this afternoon and may return the others.

Floisme · 24/07/2020 08:28

Thanks everyone, I was pretty sure you would know! I checked this morning around 6.30 and they had clearly restocked overnight but they'd already gone.

Yeah the wool/cotton ones are dry clean which isn't great. I'm not normally a fan of linen in trousers either, unless it's really good quality, cos it goes saggy. In fact I really don't need any more trousers at all (and certainly not at full price) but Laska looks so good in that photo it's tipped me into obsession mode.

AmethystMoonShine · 24/07/2020 08:33

They’re very lovely looking vans @Laska2Meryls, I adore our Eriba. She was new last August so we’ve only used her a few times, she’s called Ermintrude Grin
I’ve had much fun decorating her with lights and lovely wooden blankets I picked up in Donegal last autumn and some sheepskin rugs. She’s my happy place Smile

I have a cotton/cashmere pair I bought in the January sale. I love them, - soft, lightweight, perfect for Scottish summer. Mine has a faint check.

Mine are also washable though, so probably not the same as the wool/cotton ones they have this year. Def not winter weight.

Thank you!

Dottty · 24/07/2020 08:43

I am totally in love with the Cotton Linen Canvas Coat in Olive oil in the new collection but at £275 there is no chance www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+coats+and+jackets/c0pba/cotton+linen+canvas+coat.htm?clr=C0PBA_OliveOil_sw
Where do people usually find the discount codes for full price items? Couldn't afford even with 20% off at the moment but maybe in a few months when I have finished paying for my new wardrobe.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/07/2020 08:45

I was also awake around 5.30am. They had a few bits and bobs on but honestly in a few minutes they were all gone. I reckon people are getting up at that time to stalk the website! [I may do the same!!]

neveradullmoment99 · 24/07/2020 08:47

That's gorgeous @Dotty. Its so expensive this season. Most things are nearly £200!!! Worth waiting for the sale or just investing. They rarely do discounts sadly unless its a mention me referral.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/07/2020 08:48

..and I am part of Toast Kindred!! [ I have free delivery as a perk for everything]

ilovecherries · 24/07/2020 08:50

My Baukjen masks are awful. Not the ones they advertise on the website, but beak shaped ones that don’t stay on. I was so disappointed with them. Similar to The REW ones, but I’m now in the huff with Rew after some pretty disappointing customer service. Won’t ever shop there again and I really liked some of their stuff. My Boden ones have proved the best.
