@Spottyegg, sorry, I bagged the Ashley jeans in a size 10 three days ago! Can you maybe phone JL customer services and see if they will get one of the two stores to post them direct to you?

faustina · 23/07/2020 17:13

T-shirts in the washing machine with the navy dye - fingers crossed!

The scratchy linen jumper - I wore mine with a t-shirt underneath - a kind of thin summer extra layer - and the indigo Ivar jacket on top - the colours looked great together and that beat the scratchiness!

@dotty - I think you might have persuaded me to make a flying visit tomorrow if I can squeeze it in.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2020 17:25

OMG have you seen the new collection. So so many things that are beautiful!!! Oh dear!

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2020 17:28

look at this

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2020 17:29

Sadly Shetland wool so may well be quite itchy! So beautiful though.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2020 17:30

and this too

Countmeout · 23/07/2020 17:32

I absolutely love the Shetland jumper. And the pear coloured gloves hat and big scarf.
I’m a bit disappointed with the colours in the Gabi cords, hopefully more will appear.

Alsohuman · 23/07/2020 17:36

The alpaca jumper’s lovely. If you’re reading this, Toast, please make it in blue, both the current colours kill me.

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 18:01

Ok here are smaller Alix and ted linen tee love both and my thankfully hairdresser cut hair, back to its 'natural' colour 😄.. I feel like 'me' again .. A bit vivid right now as just done, it will tone down a bit when I wash it in the morning..
Also the Alix with last year's cream frill shirt , which I had put out to ebay as hadn't found anyhing to wear with it ! So thats back in wardrobe ..

@Laska2Meryls - you look fab! Hasn't it been odd not being able to get hair cut/coloured etc?

faustina · 23/07/2020 18:17

That shetland jumper is beautiful!

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 18:40

How did the tees come out Faustina? .. I just noticed that you asked my advice.., . I Imagine the thread is still white? . Its still olive on my definitely bottle green vest ..
I have sent the 12 Alix back, and the xs slate linen trousers ., (they may be back in time for the end of JL sale on Sunday) . Slate ones went back because although they are Ok, I dont think really special .. and I bought some Khaki ones for £18 from JL! which I reckon almost as good - Ok maybe not so thick or long lasting, but that's ok at that price and I want them for warm days! ... and because I am pretty sure that I will keep the Slate Alix..

faustina · 23/07/2020 18:55

they're on their second wash @Laska2Meryls - where you add the detergent. They were looking pretty good after the first. the stitching on linen one was definitely very white still - not sure about the Emma . I'll take pics when they're done

Squiz81 · 23/07/2020 19:05

@Alsohuman

Hopefully it will soften in the wash. If not, I’ll try it with a thin top under it and, if that doesn’t help, off to eBay it will go.
Vinegar in the wash is supposed to soften wool. I’ve not tried it though!

All good things must come to an end...it’s the final day of the JL clearance sale this Sunday, July 26th.

I’m sending back a size 10 pair of the Jamie cotton twill workwear trousers in blue in the morning. They were a surprise delivery as I attempted to buy them and was subsequently sent an email advising that there’d been a problem and the order had been cancelled. In the meantime, my Ashley jeans arrived and I managed to snaffle the indigo pleat front trousers I’d coveted for weeks. I’m releasing the Jamies back out into the universe in the hope I’m spreading trouser happiness!

goldpendant · 23/07/2020 20:49

I also released a pair of canvas parchment trousers in a 10 back to JL last week - goodness knows what will happen to them!

Spottyegg · 23/07/2020 20:52

@Laska2Meryls I bought these in the JL Sale: whistles linen trews - nice soft linen, good fit for my apple-shaped body

faustina · 23/07/2020 20:53

I wonder if John Lewis does an outlet thing on eBay ..

Moominmammaatsea · 23/07/2020 21:01

Ah now, help me out...my beautiful Jude trousers have been hanging on the front of my wardrobe for a good fortnight now. I contemplate them daily and admire them greatly, but I’m not convinced I have a sufficiently glamorous lifestyle to be worthy of wearing such a splendiferous, swishy and showy pair of trousers.

On the other hand, I’d wrapped up the Jamies ready to drop off at the Post Office in the morning, ready to go back to JL. I’ve just had a pang, ripped open the package, tried them on again, and they feel...like me.

Now, am I a) stuck in a style rut and always opting for the same styles and colours (blue/ indigo/denim/utilitarian) or b) shall I accept that I know what suits me and my life (blue/indigo/denim/utilitarian)? Are all signs pointing to Jamie rather than Jude?

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2020 21:11

Keep what you feel happy in and you love rather than what you don't. The fact that you have had them hanging up for a fortnight speaks volumes.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2020 21:13

Can you keep both? I don't think you should send back the jamies if you find them useful and love them.

What do we think if these?

Saurus72 · 23/07/2020 21:16

Jude trousers - if you love them, feel good in them and can afford them keep them, even if you wear them to go for a walk. I’m a big believer in everyday glamour Wink

faustina · 23/07/2020 21:18

hmmm - I haven't tried the Jude but having made my Jamie decision today (which size to keep if any) I can definitely see where you're coming from about them being 'you' - it's exactly how I felt. you know how some things are quiet - understated but perfect - and can really make one's day when nothing else does it? My Gabi trousers are similar - not shouty, but I put them on and everything feels a bit better. Couldn't you keep both? They're very different

Railingsohno · 23/07/2020 22:12

Well the Jamies are more traditional than the Judes. Personally I think the Judes are more “Toast” (ie a bit different) but I’m not sure I could pull them off. What is holding you back? They are lovely.
