Oh dear I am back from JL as needed to return the striped navy and gold top. All the Toast stuff had been moved into a central clearance area so a rummage was required. I have purchased another 7 items. I will list them later as I do not know what some are called...... that is it.... finito! No more Toast but I have a wonderful new wardrobe. Lockdown made me reconsider what kind fo clothing I want to enjoy going forward I am 53. I have a lot of things that I can focus on putting on ebay over the coming weeks which I feel are no longer my style but still lovely items.

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 14:02

Bernice the jeans are Hush Moritz .. they ate a couple of years old now but they still do them and are currently in the sale for 55

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 14:03

Sounds like a good haul Dotty !

ilovecherries · 23/07/2020 14:17

Indigo twill top, has arrived, love it, so that’s a keeper. Indigo v neck dress is arriving tomorrow - final purchase enabled by all the love on here for it last night. Now I’m going to enjoy wearing it all!

Alsohuman · 23/07/2020 14:38

I love the indigo top. I’m really hoping Toast repeats it next year - or that one in the right size pops up on eBay.

faustina · 23/07/2020 14:39

@Laska2Meryls - that's a great colour. I wonder why it didn't go blue though? did you use the dylon navy blue? It's literally the thing I'm just about to go and pick up...

@ilovecherries - looking forward to wearing my indigo twill top. Too warm here today!

Cautiously jealous of people near enough to a John Lewis to be able to go for a rummage. I might be tempted now, if it weren't for the fact that I'm quite busy until after the sale ends

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 14:50

Faustina yes I used Dylon navy .. I suppose it was because it was Olive. You do have to be careful about colour mixing , just like paint . The label is now navy.. and I did them with a pair of the Japanese linen trousers in mid blue from last year , and those have turned out navy .. I am happy with the charcoal though,.. I only bought 2 vests because they were so cheap , and so was prepared to take a risk ..

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 14:51

Yes I wish I was near a JL.. our nearest one is a ferry trip away ..

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 14:54

Ah Toast sale has now ended.. ( probably a good thing !!) .. except that they have new stuff online !!

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 14:57

.... Gorgeous new stuff 😍😍😍

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 14:58

And mask kits !! In Toast fabrics.. They have been reading the thread !!

faustina · 23/07/2020 15:09

@Laska2Meryls - do you think if I use the navy on two white t-shirts it'll work?

They have cord gabi trousers which look amazing!!!

Did anyone else get an invitation just before the virus about filling in a form which might result in someone from Toast coming round to have a rummage in their wardrobe? Take photos and ask you questions about your choices? I either didn't get chosen or they dropped it because of Events, but they could save themselves a lot of time by just referring to this thread couldn't they Grin

CaptainWentworth · 23/07/2020 15:16

Hi everyone - I’ve been lurking on these threads with interest, but as usual I dithered too much and missed everything I liked in the sale!

I’m still not sure if Toast is ‘me’ but I got a 15% discount code for signing up to their emails, so have ordered some boy t shirts, a cardigan and some dungarees (which I have coveted for years) just to see what I think. Credit card bill will be eye watering but planning on sending most of it back! I’m still looking for my style having somehow ended up in my late thirties without realising it, and not having bought that much except maternity and nursing clothes for a while.

They’ve given me a 20% discount link ‘for a friend’ as a thank you so I thought one of you might like to use it - link here
toast.mention-me.com/m/ol/nb2ow-9efd722156

Sorry for further enabling!

Dottty · 23/07/2020 15:27

@Laska2Meryls

Sounds like a good haul Dotty !
Oh heck here is my list... Cord shirt dress burnt caramel 140/26 Cotton sateen shirt dress 180/45 Seersucker ruffle shirt 115/23 Pleated easy trousers dull gold 140/34.5 (not sure about these) Soft cotton stripe top 69/19.50 Fine check cotton shirt 95/28.50 Marlo trousers dark olive 135/33.75 (not sure) + £874/£209.25!!

Plus the chevron stripe tiered top has arrived - a little tight across the bust as it is a 12 but at £29 the fabric is so amazing I am going to keep it even if I gave to unbutton with a cami underneath

Am creating room in my wardrobe and have a massive pile for ebay.... I think I am finally Kondoing my clothing... there is so much in there I never ever wear and never will but I am a "maybe will need it one day" person.

Thanks for listening Wink

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 15:28

No Faustina that would be quite exciting/scary .. I would have to do a deep clean and buy some lovely housewares to measure up to the Toast type lifestyle I think !! I spend more on clothes than the house! ..

I love these trousers from the new collection I have a 20% voucher ,.. but will think about that later later.. Brassic now for a bit..

Now that the vest is drying I think its actually bottle green, which actually does make more sense.. .

The smaller 10 desert Alix have arrived , and the red linen T from JL , both look keepers but I am currently colouring my hair (back to its natural Pink !! ) after hair cut.. so will try on later

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2020 15:29

Wow Dotty thats worth me getting the 2 buses and the ferry... (looks up timetable) !!

Countmeout · 23/07/2020 16:08

I’m home!
Wow @Dottty that’s amazing. I wish I had a John Lewis.
Lots has happened while I was out.
I’m off to look at the new stuff.
My dressing gown is to arrive on Saturday.

Moominmammaatsea · 23/07/2020 16:14

@Laska2Meryls, natural pink hair sounds like my four-year-old summer idea of heaven!

Reading backwards again as we’ve been out walking all day.

Great haul, Dotty!

I sent back today:

Size 12 Kado (realistically, how much wear would it get in Bronte country? Two days a year tops?!)

Size 12 Olive cotton sateen button up coat dress (I prefer the cotton linen version)

Size S linen slub sweater in bone (really like this but the fit is very small)

Size 10 cotton linen workwear jacket in steel blue (a bit too oversized and long for my liking and I already have the Ivar).

They’re all currently wafting their way back to JL, courtesy of Royal Mail.

@Faustina, yes, I got one of those invitations, but I assumed I didn’t get chosen as I don’t live in London.

Moominmammaatsea · 23/07/2020 16:17

@Laska2Meryls, I think I’ll charge a consultancy fee for the mask idea! Alternatively, lovely people from Toast who may be reading this thread (👋), a discount shopping code for the hardcore among us would be really welcome! Grin

Spottyegg · 23/07/2020 16:19

Ok my last minute JL purchases have arrived. Slate linen pants in XS are wearable, think S would be too baggy in the bum. Oxford dress is lovely, better than expected. Made me wish I’d got the Ume! Seth linen shirt not doing it for me, likely to go back. And I am also pondering the slightly crunchy and scratchy blue linen jumper, and wondering if it is worth the 39£. And now to look at the new collection - codes appreciated! Why do I never get a 15% code - is it because they know me too well!

Railingsohno · 23/07/2020 16:28

I’m really hankering after that heavy linen tunic. Still full price though. I don’t know how much wear I’d get out if it as I’d probably need to wear it over something for most of the year. It was gorgeous in the orange in the shop.

Well done with all your sale bargains! I wore my selvedge edge short sleeved shirt yesterday with green rolled up chinos, a tan belt and my Stan Smiths!

Alsohuman · 23/07/2020 16:28

And I am also pondering the slightly crunchy and scratchy blue linen jumper

Not just me then. Were you expecting it to be softer too @Spottyegg? This was a real bargain and I was expecting it to feel similar, ie very soft.

Spottyegg · 23/07/2020 16:48

@Alsohuman I am wondering if it softens on washing? Oh I forgot my extra purchase - blue kaftan top which is a nicer blue in person.

Loving the greens in this new collection! This jumper is lovely fairisle jumper

Spottyegg · 23/07/2020 16:53

If anyone has the app you can check in store stock - so I can see eg that the pair of Ashley jeans I covet in a size 10 are in stock in Bluewater and Milton Keynes....None of which are close to me!

Alsohuman · 23/07/2020 16:58

Hopefully it will soften in the wash. If not, I’ll try it with a thin top under it and, if that doesn’t help, off to eBay it will go.
