Another "Which Dress?" please for autumn wedding.

Family wedding in October has been scaled down to a registry office. No longer bridesmaid so need something to wear. Did a big Reiss order - only one worth thinking about.

Please can I have opinions on all of these - any any good? Or should I keep looking? Oh, and goes without saying please excuse hair - need a cut though thank heavens I no longer dye it

Dress 1 Pink - saw on another poster's thread. DD (14yo) thinks it is horrible and not my style, makes me look old and not right for an October wedding. I rather liked it..... I can see it would be a shock for DD as I am not normally a pattern person (think the grey curls + pattern = too much).

Dress 2 Teal/Green Reiss - in the sale. DD likes it. I feel rather lovely in it. But am not sure if I like it cos it makes me look slim. Clueless as to what shoes I would wear with it (hate heels).

Dress 3 - My old Boden summer party staple. Not sure if right for an Oct wedding though.

Help oh wise-ones please.

I actually adore the floral dress on you! Not helpful as I know everyone else has said the teal!

Mumof1I · 03/07/2020 19:36

Dress 1.

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 03/07/2020 19:37

Another vote for dress two, looks amazing and is the perfect colour for autumn.

Tanfastic · 03/07/2020 19:41

Dress 2 is beautiful on you. I like dress 3 too but not as much as 2.

JaJaDingDong · 03/07/2020 19:41

Dress 2 too

Peeeas · 03/07/2020 19:49

Dress 2!

I always rate Boden for dressy flats, e.g. www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/adelaide-jewelled-flats-bronze-metallic/sty-a0584-brz?cat=C1_S2_G11_G59

Dress 2, the teal one. Really great.

The first one is shapeless and colourless, the third is a holiday dress. You look fab in the middle one.

Dark gold blocky shoes?

AstridAv · 03/07/2020 19:56

Dress two. Its gorgeous and you look amazing in it!

Bubbletrouble43 · 03/07/2020 19:58

The green definitely. What a striking colour and it looks amazing on you. No contest.

OnDisplay · 03/07/2020 20:01

Can I wear my silver birkies with it? Please?

I think it may be the dress. Will run past the bride too (sister) as not sure of her plans. They are doing the big wedding reception thing next year at some point - so the registry office thing (and nice meal after) is kind of the first bit iyswim - so I need to make sure she is not thinking jeans/nice top Grin.

Dress two but if you can afford to keep the pink one and you love it, tuck it away for summer events next year?

It won't wash you out if you have a tan or a lick of makeup on. I just love pink, I think it goes really well with your hair too.

OnDisplay · 03/07/2020 20:04
Love this idea. But I am a terrible coat addict already and so should not buy another. Also, as above, this is just the "official" bit and the big wedding is still happening next year - so loath to spend too much on the whole shebang if I can avoid it.

I do already have a lightweight, velvet-esque navy coat/jacket in a similar shape actually - which maybe perfect for an early Oct wedding - so your brilliant suggestion has made me think this may be better than a biker jacket.

I think you look absolutely gorgeous in the pink one but maybe it’s a bit too summery for an autumn wedding. The teal colour is beautiful too.

OnDisplay · 03/07/2020 20:06

Hmmm. So. If it is the dress I may end up thinking:

Navy coat, I have a navy/teal chunky bangle so maybe navy shoes would work?

Anyone got any suggestions for comfortable shoes for knackered, 48 year old feet? That hate heels but could possible do them......

The green is amazing on you, i agree with your dd, the pink one looks cheap and is a bit shapeless. 3 is fab too, but the green just has the edge.

Lostmyunicorn · 03/07/2020 20:07

I think blazer or tux jacket definitely better than biker jacket (although biker jacket would be great with that shape of dress but would be very informal IFSWIM).

boatyardblues · 03/07/2020 20:07

Dress 2 for the win - it is very flattering and classy.

Dress 1is a pretty pink sack - it doesn’t do anything for your figure and washes you out/ages you.

Dress 3 is great and shows off your figure beautifully but not weddingy, especially not an autumn wedding.

diddl · 03/07/2020 20:14

I like 1&3.

Don't like 2 at all!

BobFleming · 03/07/2020 20:15

2 is really unflattering on you imo. Sleeveless, not good and the wrong length for your leg shape.

I like 3.

diddl · 03/07/2020 20:21

I agree. I also think that the colour of 3 suits you much more, Op.
alexdgr8 · 03/07/2020 20:36

well i like the pink one, but seem to be in the minority.
definitely not the last one, too low cut and hippy-ish.
the dark one looks more like a funeral dress to me, or formal business wear. but i'm out of touch. nothing wrong with it, just doesn't look festive to me. and the last one is too festive.
presumable you will wear a jacket/cardigan with the dark dress, not having bare shoulders. don't think that would be correct at the registrars.

kenandbarbie · 03/07/2020 20:45

Those m and a suede court shoes I linked up thread come in navy. I have them. They're v comfy. Insolia. I know m and s. But they're just plain court shoes, could be from anywhere.

tanqueray10 · 03/07/2020 21:07
