Hello!

There used to be a lovely what are you wearing today? thread(s) on here for people who were plus size (circa 16/18 and up I think).

Could anyone tell me if they've seen one lately please? If there isn't one on the go, would anyone be interested in joining me on here?

I'm size 16/18. Today I'm in a New Look floral dress and DM boots. Pic attached (hopefully).

Love all the pictures of all the lovely, summery outfits 😍!

@zaffa, of course! You are very welcome!

Slightly unorthodox choice for such a warm day, but, in order to stop midges from accessing my poor ankles, I am in skinny blue jeans, a polka dot peplum top and socks. Get through that ya bastards 😂.

@StCharlotte thank you, it's one of my favourite things to wear. Pleated skirts don't seem to be a thing this year unfortunately, I really like them and think they work perfectly if you need to be smart casual.

BurtsBeesKnees · 26/06/2020 15:06

@sonjadog where did you get your dungarees from, they look fab?

Hoppinggreen · 26/06/2020 15:08

Hush midi slip dress, navy blue with tiny silver stars on, silver Birkenstocks
According to the teen I look nice

There are plenty still on sale Smile

Lovely things from everyone - makes me want to buy clothes.

I had a decent outfit on this morn but changed to this old dress for the garden. It's really thin cotton from the charity shop but originally vanilla sands from bhs & it's so flowy & cool. Must check ebay for others similar. I hate spaghetti straps but could easily put a linen vest over it if I had to see people.

Recent convert to snag means I've discovered dresses for everyday. Does anyone have any recs of fairly budget places to look for them or great quality staples. My current fave was £8 odd reduced from Asda & it's a shirt dress - good as I can button down low with undervest

buckeejit · 26/06/2020 17:17

Garden dress. Bloomin sun has just gone in Hmm

LadyPrigsbottom · 26/06/2020 17:21

Hey @buckeejit!

I get a lot of dresses from Asos and (don't laugh) M&S.

Great quality basics; I cannot recommend Uniqlo enough for this. Their online service has been hit and miss for me though. Much better recently. I bought a pile of things from there and love them all.

buckeejit · 26/06/2020 18:18

Thanks lady. I forget to even check M&S tbh & never think about ASOS. I really shouldn't be buying any clothes right now but it's good to keep an eye out!

Uniqlo wouldn't go large enough for me but trying to lose some weight & would like to fit into them as I've heard such good things!

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 26/06/2020 18:25

I have been to work today so a wrap effect sleeveless but still chunky strapped dress from lands end. And oldie but goldie. I’m a size 16/18. Pre lockdown was a solid 16 verging on a 14 but no gyms and too lazy to work out at home so it’s creeping back on and no amount of dog walking is shifting it.

For work I usually wear a shift dress and a cardigan or blazer jacket but it’s too hot. So broke the rules to wear a dress without sleeves and sandals that showed my toes! (Majorcan type brown leather plain ones)

EnglishGirlApproximately · 26/06/2020 18:34

Has anyone used Shein? I've had a couple of tips from there which I liked and saw some lovely dresses on there but I'm wary of the quality.

crosser62 · 26/06/2020 18:42

George from Asda cropped dark blue Jeggin type comfort pants, blue sporty t short bought from matalan yesterday, total cost about a tenner I think. Comfy, very casual.

I’ve now bought new clothes. I’m a size 18.

I’ve decided to stop saving clothes for “best” because I’m fat, old very unattractive and there is no longer “best” for me so I’m wearing everything whenever and wherever I bloody well want.

WanderingTrolley1 · 26/06/2020 19:47

I’ve been tempted by Shein, too. I’m just afraid of the disappointment (of shite material and dodgy sizing)...

LadyPrigsbottom · 26/06/2020 19:52

Ah @crosser62, your post made me feel a bit sad.
I bet you are NOT unattractive at all! Please don't be horrible about yourself. I know that's easier said than done though Flowers.

I totally agree with you about saving stuff for best though. Balls to that.

I love clothes at the moment, even though I'm quite possibly the largest I've been... ever? Hmmm yes, possibly ever 😬. But I'm trying to put an end to that. Definitely need to stop gaining weight. That worries me more than losing it; need to stop gaining it!

Anywho, I've just bought a couple of dresses in the Joe Brown sale. Some quite good offers there at the mo.

LadyPrigsbottom · 26/06/2020 19:54

Never bought from Shein, even though some of the stuff does look quite nice. I don't know what makes me hesitate, but I've never taken the plunge.

I'm sure I read somewhere that returns used to be a bit of a nightmare with them, but maybe that has improved.

I may take one for the thread and order from Shein see what it's like! Love Joe Browns dresses, its the brand I mostly were in dresses but strangely don't really like their tops and knitwear.

FenellaMaxwell · 26/06/2020 20:02

I’ve bought from Shein a few times and it’s all completely shit. :(

LadyPrigsbottom · 26/06/2020 20:03

Oh good luck English. Do report back please Smile.

Thanks for that info re Joe Browns - I nearly bought some tops there as well, but glad I didn't now!

LadyPrigsbottom · 26/06/2020 20:04

Oh no! That's a shame Fenella.

Hello! Love this thread so many good ideas and gorgeous outfits.

I'm 42, 5'11" and 20/22 bottom 22/24 top and very large of nork. Constantly feel frumpy and aiming to sort my weight out as due to get married in 2 years.

I've been wearing my much loved Mantary Bay long dresses with Snag chub rub shorts underneath (heaven sent - best buy ever) or floaty tops and white cropped pants (Sainsbury's, George, Matalan,Mantary Bay)

I got a lovely giraffe print sleeveless top and some black shorts from Asda yesterday, for the princely sum of £11 😁

I'm not one for spending lots as my children suck up all my spare cash.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 26/06/2020 20:22

Oh no Fenella lots of it looks lovely! I'm going to order a kimono I've seen to try it, surely a kimono can't be too bad HmmGrin

sonjadog · 26/06/2020 23:26

I got these dungarees in the post today (birthday present). Just tried them on and haven’t worn them properly yet, but they were a really good fit and looked good! They are thicker material than the ones I have been wearing in the earlier photos, so I think they will be more spring/autumn wear than summer wear.
