Hello!

There used to be a lovely what are you wearing today? thread(s) on here for people who were plus size (circa 16/18 and up I think).

Could anyone tell me if they've seen one lately please? If there isn't one on the go, would anyone be interested in joining me on here?

I'm size 16/18. Today I'm in a New Look floral dress and DM boots. Pic attached (hopefully).

I'm wearing this linen tunic and black cropped leggings- very cool.

JerseyMermaid · 07/08/2020 16:14

I love that tunic @DelphiniumBlue

Work again and it’s baking hot.

All charity shop today - monsoon jumpsuit, no idea what size as it’s been cut out & Wallis top size L. Jumpsuit is very cool and I’m not really wearing the cardigan unless right under the air con.

And white converse.

Hope you are all keeping cool x

@JerseyMermaid I absolutely love that outfit. Really suits you and the cardy is great on your skin tone.

LadyPrigsbottom · 07/08/2020 17:40

@JerseyMermaid you have the best charity shop pieces! I am very EnvyGrin.

Also love the WS tunic.

I dont find chub rub shorts hotter on. I have ones made from cotton. The ones made from the same material as tights would be hotter, I would imagine. They make a huge difference to me. I don't wear dresses without them. Also, I like that I am covered if my skirt blows up, or if I bend over, etc.

JerseyMermaid · 08/08/2020 07:56

Thank you @LadyPrigsbottom & @Peachypips78

I am an avid charity shopper it’s fair to say!

Don’t yet know what I am going to wear today but thankfully it seems a bit cooler today. Last day at work and then not in for 10days!

JerseyMermaid · 08/08/2020 07:59

This stuff is amazing. No rubbing whatsoever.

Came on here to recommend this dress from sainsburys. Been wearing it a lot in this heat, nice and cool, belt on my waist instead of too high and fake buttons down front so no popping open. Best thing is it has pockets!! Quite thin fabric so had to wear nude underwear.

I'm a 20, working this morning so wearing uniform (black stretchy skirt and blouse

When I get home I will change into my new patterned trousers (been looking for a pair for ages and finally found some lovely ones in the Sainsbury sale) and a vest top.

When I am not at work I generally live in stretchy lounge pants and vest tops/DH's old t-shirts. I am trying to lose weight though as I am not happy with my size

WanderingTrolley1 · 08/08/2020 11:44

Peacocks dress, size 18.
Will put white pumps on to go shopping shortly.

I really love both those dresses @NaturalBlondeYeahRight & @WanderingTrolley1

StCharlotte · 08/08/2020 13:10

Wearing a jersey swing dress from M&S which is few years old. It's a bit of an odd design as it has quite a low neckline at the back. Sort of looks like it's on back to front. Also has tucks on the shoulders as if it's been taken up. But it's very cool and comfy and is brilliant for holidays as it doesn't crease and dries really quickly.

Wore it one day in Greece when we drove from beach to beach all day and then went straight out to dinner and it was smart enough for the evening too.

About to change into shorts and a top to go to Tesco. I'm taking MIL- hope she doesn't faint in the heat if we have to queue. It's her first time since before lockdown. Not looking forward to it...

On the plus side, I had my first haircut today Grin

LadyPrigsbottom · 08/08/2020 13:44

Love all the summery ensembles^^. Especially love the Peacocks dress @WanderingTrolley1!

Here I am in the same old Seasalt dress, size 18, a bargain on eBay. It's been brilliant, considering what I paid for it and how much wear I'm getting out of it Smile. Wearing it with white fitflop trainers.

Just been to a NT property for a wander round. Does anyone else prefer it at the moment, with the limited numbers? I'm clearly quite antisocial Blush.

Good luck with the shopping trip @StCharlotte and with the haircut too!

My first cut is next Friday. Looking forward to that a lot. I need my mullet removed 😂🙈.

Thankfully shopping trip went well and even brought her here afterwards for a cuppa and to see our cats who were tiny kittens last time she was here pre-lockdown. Her other local DIL has been brilliant and doing her shopping for the duration but she hasn't liked to ask for "odds and sods". She's 89 and normally very independent. Combined with lockdown and giving up driving a couple of months ago, she was feeling a bit beholden. When I dropped her off she said "it was so nice to do something normal. Bless her.

Sorry to go off topic!

I think we chatted about your hair on another thread? I didn't go as short at the back as usual. Went for this. What have you decided to go for?

Plus size what are you wearing today?
LadyPrigsbottom · 08/08/2020 16:29

Oooooh I'm sure we did @StCharlotte! That definitely rings a bell.

I have absolutely no idea what to do with my hair, but this whole no access to hairdresser for months thing, has definitely inspired me to go for something a bit lower maintenance!

I think I'm going to grow it to just above shoulder length and no short layers. It's just a case of getting there and the best way to do it. My hairdresser is actually really good at that, as she is a former pixie cut fan who grew hers out and never went back, so hopefully she can give me some good ideas 🤞.

I love that pic! If my hair was straighter, I'd love that.

So lovely re your MIL! How tough for her, being stuck indoors for so long. I know it's for her own good and everything. It is just very unfair on people who have to stay in through no fault of their own. Bloody virus Hmm.

I can definitely relate to just doing normal things. When we were first allowed out a bit more, it just felt so liberating to go out for more than the one allocated exercise trip or to the shops for an anxious and hurried trip round.

@JerseyMermaid I am also an avid charity shopper- today my fat face vest top was £1 and my marks shorts were £2.75!

Giggorata · 08/08/2020 17:00

I'm wearing a positively ancient cotton print maxi dress, with spaghetti straps, a bra top, and integral slip, so I haven't bothered with underwear on this hot day. Barefoot, got a loose mesh shrug, in case anyone comes to the door, to hide my fat arms. Despite the oven temperature, I feel quite comfortable.
If I’m going out and being more active, I wear lightweight long legged cotton knickers, to avoid the chub rub.

LadyPrigsbottom · 08/08/2020 17:12

Oh envious of the charity shop finds @Peachypips78 Envy! I haven't been into one since lockdown, but I've had a few good finds in the past. More luck on eBay, but it can be a bit hit and miss.

@Giggorata, it is boiling here again today. Luckily not too bad for the NT property, but now I'm baking in my house. Definitely agree with not needing to be in loads of underwear today!

I am supposed to be doing C25K this evening. Might wait till dark so it won't be too hot.

I had a good 8 inches chopped off my hair this week as my I finality got to have my hair cut and coloured for the first time since lockdown began. I've gone for a slightly inverted bob, so the front is longer than back. Feels very short but actually with this hot weather it is so much lighter and cooler!

Today's outfit is very light cotton floral dress with a square neckline from Miss Selfridge. It's kept me cool today anyway!

LadyPrigsbottom · 08/08/2020 21:48

Exciting @ChequerBoard! I love getting loads of hair cut off. It does feel very liberating. Not 8 inches, but I'm currently reversing the process and growing it out. Mine was a lot shorter than bob though. Total PITA to grow out without the help.of regular trims!

Hi ladies,

What have we all got on today to prep us for the heat? I have this black bardot dress from river island, i wish I wasn't scared of colour, my wardrobe is mainly black...I think its from years of my mum telling me how slimming it is 🙄 I got this a few weeks ago, its okay but has a line on the lower stomach area which draws a bit of attention to an area I'm not great friend with.

Have a nice day! @ChequerBoard you are very brave! Have you got for a pixie style or was your hair very long? I bet a big chop is nice in this weather!

BestIsWest · 09/08/2020 10:25

Size 20, can I join?

Might not have the courage to post photos though!

Today - dark skinnies from M&S rolled up, bright pink and cream stripy T from Boden, ancient tan coloured fitflop trainers. Off to visit a local gardens and for coffee.

ChequerBoard · 09/08/2020 10:53

@LordOfTheOnionRings it's now a Bob that sits about an inch above my shoulders. So probably not shirt to most people, but I really haha ent realised just how long my hair had got. It was a shock when the hairdresser showed me the back in the mitt or and checked that I was happy with the amount she was going to cut off!

I need to get some casual shoes that will go with my dresses and tights. Have been looking at these but am really not sure. Definitely don't want white chunky trainers as my DD17 would think I was copying her style. Found these grey suede flatforms from Next, but am really not sure...
