Hello!

There used to be a lovely what are you wearing today? thread(s) on here for people who were plus size (circa 16/18 and up I think).

Could anyone tell me if they've seen one lately please? If there isn't one on the go, would anyone be interested in joining me on here?

I'm size 16/18. Today I'm in a New Look floral dress and DM boots. Pic attached (hopefully).

Hi all, really enjoying this thread - can I join in please? (Name changed for this but I'm a regular)

Definitely feeling the same @LivingDeadGirlUK I'm reaching for stretchy things much more often recently but I bet many people are in the same position so trying to not to let it get to me too much.

Today I'm just at home so wearing a really comfy wide legged jumpsuit from ASOS and DH's hoody - basically like pyjamas!

I'm a size 20-22 by the way (but much more 22 at the mo! 🙈)

LivingDeadGirlUK · 04/07/2020 12:30

Thats really pretty, I love a black floral!

LadyPrigsbottom · 04/07/2020 12:30

You're preaching to the choir @LivingDeadGirlUK! Lockdown has made me so lazy. No gym, no outings etc. Also, 24/7 access to my fridge has not helped one bit. I have gained so much recently. It all started when I finished bfing my hungry baby, about 1 year pp. The baby in question is only 2.5 yo, but already I've gone from a healthy weight to almost obese! So what? It has taken only year and a half to gain 2.5 stone Blush. And almost 2 stone of that is since last August. Quite speedy weight gain! I am now at a point where I no longer care if I lose much weight, but I'd like to get away from the obese borderline I am fast approaching and, tbh, I just don't want to gain anymore. Staying the same would actually be ok, although I do need to lose weight.

Anyway, I am trying not to snack at the moment. It's actually a proper diet thing called The No S Diet, which I actually am finding great at the moment. It has helped me feel a lot less bonkers around food, (so far - I've only just started, but time will tell I suppose). Apparently weight loss on it is very slow, but it's more about changing habits, hopefully for life. I'm reading the book and it's the first diet book, including all the Intuitive Eating ones, which has truly resonated with me. It's a bit 'no nonsense' but I personally like it. Would recommend, but I do think it might be a little 'marmite'. Not that it's an 'out there' idea, just that it is a little bit boring / old fashioned maybe.

Anyway, excuse the lengthy post on weight loss. Not the point of the thread at all, but I have to say, it's been on my mind a bit lately.

Gorgeous @doesmytumlookbiginthis! And welcome Smile.

I love the outfits this morning.

I think a lot of people have put on some weight in lockdown. But I also think that when people start getting out and about more like normal, the weight will disappear. I am trying to stick to my fitbit 10000 steps per day and I have started tracking calories on it too. So far it seems to be working well. I don't weigh myself (childhood trauma of being weighed and ridiculed), but the bottoms that were getting a bit too tight are now back to normal.

LadyPrigsbottom · 04/07/2020 12:38

I also don't like weighing myself too much sonja and I'm so sorry that happened to you FlowersAngrySad.

I am doing monthly weigh ins, as I do find comparing weights every week or more just a total mind fuck.

OP posts:
LivingDeadGirlUK · 04/07/2020 12:38

@LadyPrigsbottom don't want to derail but have to say I'm in exactly the same situation, except my son is just turned 3. I was back in my pre baby jeans 4 weeks pp but then stopped bf when he was 1 and have gained from there! Now I'm almost back to the weight I was at full term Blush

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 04/07/2020 12:43

I like that latest dress too OP.

buckeejit · 04/07/2020 15:30

@LadyPrigsbottom love that dress & really suits you.

@sonjadog that is really sad, I'm sorry. My mum commented a couple of weeks ago to dd 'oh, dgd, you've lost weight'. I know it's a generational thing but I 'felt big' clearly from comments etc from a very young age & looking back at photos, I wasn't even. Body issues suck. I'd like to get to monthly weigh ins but I'm already the wrong side of obese & trying hard to get to the right side.

I like the H&M name - never a truer word spoken. And it's so hard to tell online what will suit and fit well, especially with their crazy sizing.

I'm wearing slobby clothes today as dashed for paint this morn & was about to get to work when we were offered a drive in cinema ticket. So, I've come with dc, leaving dh with the painting. Managed to pull up right beside our neighbours too! I might have to hunt down some seasalt items on eBay - is the sizing quite true or do you go up or down?

LadyPrigsbottom · 04/07/2020 15:54

livingdead oh we do sound similar! Oh the joys.
"Bfing will help you lose weight" Hmm, unless you then develop the appetite of a small army, stop bfing and keep the appetite!

Ugh yes, I hate those comments buckeejit, especially aimed at children or young people. It can be a generational thing I think and is usually meant well, but I still hate it.

I have to add btw, that being bigger isn't nearly as scary for me as the sheer speed at which I have gained weight lately! It's been an unusually quick weight gain. Quite weird tbh. Maybe emotional eating, as it's been a weird old few months!

But enough of my whingeing!

buck, this is my first Seasalt item. I would say if you are between sizes, I'd size up, but it might depend on your shape. I'm very big on the tummy. I'm a 16/18. The Joe Brown dress I've just bought is a 16 and fits well. The Seasalt one is a sort of jersey material, with a bit of stretch, so I think a 16 would have clung to all my lumps and bumps.

Enjoy the movie! Can I ask what you're watching?

I had a lovely walk, (all on my own as well, so very quiet Grin). Not much else planned, except dinner and maybe some Disney+.

sonjadog · 04/07/2020 16:33

Thanks for the supportive comments. :-)

I have a few Seasalt dresses. I would say, if you are between two sizes, it is often better to size up, especially if parts of the item are quite fitted. Seasalt clothes can be quite narrow across the chest, I find. I have a few items from them and the quality is very good and they last for ages.

I think someone mentioned New Look further up, but now I can't find the post. Anyway, I was going to say that I get quite a lot fo stuff from New Look Curve. I never find anything in the shops when I go, but there is lots of stuff on online. I find that New Look comes up with some real gems from time to time, but you do have to sift through a lot of poor quality stuff to find it.

sonjadog · 04/07/2020 16:48

I was trying on dressed earlier. I am not really enthusiastic about the green one. Not sure why.

Oh I love the red one sonja! I do like the green one too, but I see what you mean about not being sure...is it the print maybe? I think that might be the thing for me... but hard to say as it may not be coming across as well in photos.

OP posts:
sonjadog · 04/07/2020 17:05

Looking at the photo, it actually hit me why I am not keen on it. I grew up in rural Northern Ireland and it makes me think of the dresses older women wore to church when I was a child. I feel like I should have a hat and a matching glove and purse set. Nothing wrong with that kind of style (in case someone reading is about to take offence), but it isn't who I am at all!

LadyPrigsbottom · 04/07/2020 17:23

I also grew up in NI sonja! Yes, I sort of see what you mean...although, I am on the "Old Lady" fashion thread, so I'd probably love it Grin.

WanderingTrolley1 · 04/07/2020 18:18

I absolutely love the green dress, Sonja!

doesmytumlookbiginthis · 04/07/2020 19:57

I really like the green dress @sonjadog maybe adding a belt at the waist would make it a bit more to your style.

LadyPrigsbottom · 05/07/2020 09:40

Morning all!

Here I am in my new Joe Brown's dress. I really like it. Wearing with black, Snag tights and charity shop necklace. Gold bar earrings, (they aren't ACTUAL gold bars, you understand. They are a small, bar shape in gold... that is very difficult to describe without making it sound as if I'm wearing gold bars on my ear lobes Grin).

Hope everyone is well.

Thats a lovely dress, I always see stuff on Joe Browns that catches my eye but never ordered from there.

I work half a day over the weekend and todays the day this week. So I'm in yesterdays green trousers and a really old Kreepsvile 666 T shirt. It used to be loose, now its fitted :p

buckeejit · 05/07/2020 11:37

@LadyPrigsbottom I love that dress!

@sonjadog I really like the green one but I know what you mean about it being between Presbyterian & Gospel hall! Another NIr here 😂. Agree about trying a belt, I don't think there's many dresses I'd wear without a belt these days

We watched trolls-it was just something the council put on, but good to be out. Well dc watched it while I say in the back lifting all the bits of rubbish they've left in my car.

I'm finishing drinking a big pot of tea before getting my scruffs on for a day of painting

StCharlotte · 05/07/2020 11:43

@sonjadog I really like the green dress too. I think it's a lovely shape on you.

The red is really fun though and I'd feel very "carnival" in it Smile Ditto yours today @LadyPrigsbottom. Happy frocks!

LadyPrigsbottom · 05/07/2020 11:47

I feel like, (based purely on the handful of pics I've seen on here), the dress is too classic and not edgy or modern enough for sonja, whereas the red one seems to tie in more with her cool, scandi / minimalist style... am I overthinking / dissecting this Grin? Just a bit 😂.

Will be wearing denim cropped jeggings and a warmish top today as about to walk round to see MIL.

(Last night we had a family zoom quiz and you had to wear a uniquie item of clothing - I ended up wearing my wedding veil for the evening.)
