What clothes size would you expect this person to wear?

Inspired by my mini Sainsbury’s TU clothing rant (size too big)- what UK clothes size (May differ ‘vanity sizing’ shops and ‘teenage’ shop) would you expect this person to wear?

5ft5 8 stone 5lbs

I know it’s a ‘guessing game’ doesn’t account for where weight stored etc. But I’d be interested in getting a general idea of what people thought

6? I'm 5'9'' and 8 stone 12 or so and wear a 6 or 8 on top / dresses and a 10 in trousers. I have a depressingly long body and smaller size trousers invariably have a shorter rise than larger ones. So I wear a belt. If I were shorter I think it would all work better.

These are really interesting as I am usually a small size 8, but would struggle to get into most size 6s- my limbs would fit but my torso bones and my pot belly (not boobs as flat chested) just won’t play ball!

Same as me, 6, sometimes an 8.

I'm 5'5" and 8.5 stone and a Size 8. Couldnt fit into a Size 6.

6-8. I'm 5'6 9st and wear size 8

I never understand these things - I am 5ft 6 and currently 8st 10lb - roughly a generous size 8 or a 10.
I am usually just under 8st 7lb (bloody lockdown ) so my size 8s are now feeling tight. I don't understand how anyone my height could still be a size 8 at over 9st.

@fleurchamp I'm about 8st10 but I just round it up to 9.

I used to be 5'4" and 8 stone 7, I was a small size 8 I think...10 years and two children later I am significantly fatter

I'd guess a 6 occasionally but more often an 8 it depends on what shape you are.
I'm 5ft 5 and 9st but have big boobs and slim everywhere else and am an 8/10. Nearly all my skirts and jeans are 8, tops are 10.

I used to be 5 foot 5 and this weight when I was younger and wore a 6-8 depending on the style, because I was bottom heavy 6 top and 8 bottoms.

8-10.
Unless it's next or m&s then it'll be a 6 or 4 if they do them.

Depends on the shop
At the same height and weight last year many 8's were too big - m and s, next, DP
but I needed a size 14 in the youth section of h and m

I'm 5ft 6 and weigh 10 stones and size 8, but I'm very muscular
If I was at the lowest bmi for my height I'd be around size 4

I do have a proportionally small waist though, which takes me down a size. I tend to buy things that stretch, if I buy a size up it get u comfortable and too much volume, with gaping waists etc

@flabbyflabbyflabguts very jealous of your physique- I have never, ever made it into a size 4 (even at 7.5 stone)!

I’m 5ft 8. My lowest weight was 8 stone 5lb. I was a 12. Long time ago though.

That’s a couple of inches shorter than me and half a stone lighter. I’m an 8-10 so I’d say an 8.

@Fleurchamp -it just depends where you carry your weight I suppose? Also how much muscle you have as muscle weighs more for a given amount than fat.

I’ve got quite big shoulders, slim hips but my waist isn’t overly defined so although I’m just over 9 stone (5 foot 7) I wear an 8 in some things depending on the style. If an 8 is too small it will be over my shoulders or at my waist.

I'm 5 ft 5 and weigh 8 stone 1-2lbs. Like you I am quite flat chested so although I wear an 8 or 10, the 8 can sometimes be too baggy on top. I have quite a muscular bottom and thighs (I cycle alot) so a 10 (and sometimes an 8) on the bottom will always gape at the waist. It really depends so much on the brand!
