Are you....Bored so buying loads (currently me) trying to nail that elusive perfect summer wardrobe so buying loads (me) staying at home not seeing anyone so not buying any? Saving tons of money waiting for the next season you'll be "seen"?!

I’ve bypassed all my office dresses, too much wrap over polyester going on, and gone straight to cotton Summer style tshirt and drawstring dresses.
Stretchy jeans with vest and shirt combo on colder days. And I haven’t worn tights for so long it’s wonderful!
The only thing I’ve bought is a pair of white crossover Birkenstocks to go with everything until September. I’ve also looked out some grey linen to make a Japanese-style pinafore.

I have had time to finally tackle my sewing / alterations pile, some of the clothes i've never worn!..
So i have 3 new dresses and 2 new tops so far ready for when the time comes, plus i've got a friend who had a massive clear out and has given me a huge bag full of vintage Galliano!! Soo excited..

I can’t wait to start wearing heels again, my legs looked much more toned pre-lockdown. I’ve stopped wearing them as I feel like a bit of a knob wearing heels on a walk/supermarket trip so

After years of fairly plain/ dark clothes (black top/ jeans) I've also jumped to floral dresses! How odd. In these difficult times I find black too depressing, like I'm in mourning. I've also been taking comfort from baking, cross stitch etc and dresses seem to fit with that homely/vintage vibe, are comfortable and so easy to chuck on. Also feels like I'm making an effort.

I'm absolutely revelling I'm not buying a single thing! I'm hugely likely to be working from home until October / November. So that saves the awkward heatwave / tube / customer facing outfit conundrum.
I currently have zero social plans in the diary.
I spend time outside the house exercising or very recently chasing toddler around fields and the local park.
I'm absolutely stacking up money (ok huge exaggeration there as I'm not a super high earner)
But I'm getting a little competitive with jay elf as I see my outgoings slow (no coffees for my commute, no Friday lunches in town, no petrol in my car, no new manicure appointments) and for once I'm really enjoying just using what I have and watching the savings grow whilst focusing on other spending goals.
This is not a braggy moral highground post by the way I'm sure my DH or friends would insist I let go of last years old leggings and vest and get a nice summer dress for the park escapades! But it's quite thrilling to be able to rebel against all of my normal spending habits!

I bought a few t-shirts because mine were old and had shrunk in length. That's it. I am not at work until September so I am just rotating comfy clothes. I love Spring/Summer clothes, I rarely buy much in winter so feel the occasional pang that I won't really be buying anything until next Spring. But really I feel quite relaxed that I am out of the shopping game for a while.

I want some nice, summery dresses, high enough necklines so video meetings don't end up looking down my cleavage, a bit of colour, stretchy and soft fabrics. But I have lost the ability to make decisions and can't find anything that hits the mark for transitioning between workwear, cooking lunch for four and then deadheading the roses.

I've bought a couple of items. Things that I already wanted and were on offer. My interest in clothes is exactly the same, I spend a lot of time at home anyway as I only work part-time. Normally I go out a lot with dp and to socialise but there's not that much that requires me to dress up. I want a new bikini for my holiday but doubt it will be happening now so will have to save it for next year.

Definitely missing a good loiter and try on session in JL!

I've not quite lost my interest in clothes, I'm doing lots of looking but very little purchasing-(I had a list of summer clothes I needed mainly for a couple of holidays which are now cancelled) a pair of sweatpants and jumpsuit for lounging around plus a linen dress

However, I have splurged on several items from Sweaty Betty as doing lots of zoom yoga-expensive but great quality

Not bought any because my job is precarious so I'm watching the cash, plus in any case I don't like buying clothes online. I'm not exactly short of clothes so it's fine. I'm still wearing things I like and also trying out stuff I've not worn much to try and figure out what the problem is. And I'm learning to make my own all over again.

I’ve realised how little I have in the way of nice casual clothing. Yes I have leggings and lounge pants that I slob about at weekends in. But so much of my stuff is “work based” that I actually don’t have nice casual cotton t-shirts for being at home

Bit ambivalent, I'm still browsing, and I've bought a couple of linen tshirts, a linen sweater and a new pair of trainers since lockdown but they're casual things that I'm wearing more of atm.

I was browsing Max Mara and Joseph who've got some gorgeous things in, making imaginary outfits and nearly bought some stuff, but realised I'm not going to be doing anything that I can wear them for and they'll just sit in my wardrobe being sad and unworn (plus they'll no doubt be some great sales coming up and I can pick them up for a song).

So I've decided to get some new armchairs instead!

Lol 😂 never understood how people manage this!

Lots of online shopping - more time and more disposable income than usual (I know I'm very lucky to have that). I definitely need more t-shirts, casual trousers etc but can't really justify the rest of it

As I rarely venture outside, I am slobbing about in the same old t-shirt, sweatshirt and jeans. I have ordered a few things from Next, but am not a big online shopper at the best of time. At least with Next, I know the stuff will fit me - I can't be bothered faffing about with other companies and having to return stuff.

I'm really missing charity shops and carboots! Been shopping on eBay/depop/vinted but it's not the same. I want to randomly find things that I love. Not specific internet searches

I have ordered a pair of sandals to replace ones that have fallen apart last year, a hat as DP has stolen mine, and just pre-lockdown I bought a shirt.
I usually buy lots of new stuff for new season and mercilessly cull when changing season wardrobes but this year I haven't had motivation to add anything. I'm enjoying putting the extra money in my savings account.

Report
Floisme · 22/05/2020 11:32

I agree about missing charity shops and the like. The randomness is part of the fun and going online sucks the joy out of it - for me at any rate. Plus you can't see what you're buying till it's too late.

I've just done a big wardrobe sort. I have too many clothes. Future purchases need to be really well considered and need to meet the following criteria:
*a dress that can be worn with trainers, for work and either on holiday or to go out

  • a replacement or unlevelled version of a workhorse - in my case this tends to mean: black jumper/black t-shirt/black turtle neck/black pencil skirt/black jeans/black cotton trousers/black jackets/black jersey dresses
*something that doesn't exist in my wardrobe in any form but would fill a gap - eg I currently have no printed, coloured sundresses but would like a couple / I currently don't possess a grey cardigan but would like one at some point
*something that I know I'll wear to death - this could be something like a Westwood jersey dress, a Westwood skirt, a pair of trainers

Oh and at some point I'll need new black sandals.

I'm buying a fair amount Blush Nothing expensive (so many sales!), but home working throws up too much temptation - plus is a bit of 'treat time' after cleaning, laundry, home schooling, and full time job now made up almost entirely of zoom meetings etc... . My two vices during lockdown are clothes shopping and rose wine. I have been known to do the first one DURING work zoom meetings Grin

Had a bit of a spree pre-lockdown and have been wfh ever since. Have worn some of the new stuff at home. But have saved a couple of bits for "freedom". Although I'm wearing work clothes, I did order a couple of less structured tops which will also work for casual/weekend.

I have ordered a pair of totally unnecessary expensive sunglasses today though Blush and a load of new pants (dull).
