It was very quiet in here today! I hope everyone is ok? My SOTD was Zoologist Dragonfly, from a sample. This is an airy fairy heliotrope, almond and iris concoction. It is light and watery. There are lots of notes listed on Fragrantica, but the only other ones I picked up were rice and papyrus. I enjoyed it very much but wouldn’t pay the price for a full bottle. I already have similar perfumes, such as Burberry Brit and Stendhal Elixir Blanc.

Judy, I loved your memories of California, especially spending all your money on Dunkin Donuts and having fun! I never tried the Benetton perfume, but loved the box. Your cat is a darling, so totally relaxed on the cushion.

PearsMorgan · 29/05/2020 21:57

Various SOTD but nothing lasts in the heat. Is that a thing? Sorry I forgot my calendar, having trouble summoning any inspiration.

yoikes · 29/05/2020 22:12

Hello lovely smelly ones :)

Sotd lbd weekend - a lovely citrus for thos weather.

I might treat myself to some perfume samples from les senteurs:)

1frenchfoodie · 29/05/2020 23:29

Loving the calendar for the erudite writing from calm and many others and for the smile inducing reminder of exclamation! . Think that was you boglins ?

Did somebody (MrsPerks ? ) say they were keeping a track of the reviews. Would love to have a final list to dip back in to if so (and happy to type if from scribbled notes)

No SOTD as I hit bit of a wall today, crazy busy work, 4yo who is yelling mumaay 200x a day and OH who is impervious to dirt/mess around the house.

Did the online funeral/wake go okay yoikes , I find it hard enough to connect with my colleagues and contacts over videochat, must be doubly hard where real emotions are concerned. Do you have a les senteurs short list in mind?

yoikes · 30/05/2020 08:44

Hi french

The service was beautiful actually. Wasn't sure what to expect really. The bishop was there too Aunt was a nun.

Just felt wrong though :( we should have been there. It was difficult for my famoly who could attend too. Apparently the local streets were lined with (socially distanced) people.

I've been adding things and taking things out of my les senteurs basket for 2 days!! Can't seem to make up my mind...

Off to catch up on the calendar reviews...

Have a good weekend all x

teta · 30/05/2020 09:26

That sounds lovely @Yoikes. The community looking after one of their own. Irish funerals are beautiful, sad and life affirming all at the same time - my mum is from Cork.

I've been stuck on Hermes Pamplemousse Rose all week. I can't get enough of it, even spritzing myself at night. Grapefruit seems to have a refreshing effect in the heat .

Brilliant reviews everyone . I'm loving the slices of life and time portrayed. It is amazing how a scent can bring you back to a time you thought you'd long forgotten .

teta · 30/05/2020 09:28

Sorry for the complete lack of paragraphs there. There were some but the app seems to obliterate them .

Puppylucky · 30/05/2020 12:42

Perfume Parlour reopened for orders today but closed after 3 hours due to number of orders. It's going to be a while before things get back to normal Sad

yoikes · 30/05/2020 13:40

Sotd avon lbd weekend again
Really lovely in the heat

yoikes · 30/05/2020 13:59

I've gone for Caron yatagan and perfum sacre

yoikes · 30/05/2020 18:28

Sote sueded oud

Calmasasleepycat · 30/05/2020 20:01

SOTD was a sample of Penhaligon’s Bluebell. I love the overblown Penhaligon descriptions. This one includes “Creating a harmony that evokes feelings of innocence and wonder, memories of childhood escapades through soft carpets of gentle blue.... blah, blah” (It goes on a bit). Unfortunately, I didn’t like the smell. The green opening was very harsh and there was an artificial chemical note throughout. Luca Turin in his “Perfumes - The A-Z Guide” gives it one star and describes it as “hideous floral - repellent”. He didn’t hold back 😱 !!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 31/05/2020 00:07

SOTD MG Lemon.

calm years ago I read that Kate Moss wore Bluebell so I was desperate to try it. I felt the same!

Calendar review for 30/6 just up, sorry it is late I completely lost track of the days.

SOTD Histoires de Parfums Prolixe.

Pamplemousse rose sounds lovely teta

yoikes · 31/05/2020 10:16

Lovely review french
Sounds gorgeous!
Like me, you on like "skanky" rose :)
Do try estee lauder knowing...so beautiful.

teta · 31/05/2020 11:49

@French - I love your description of the disdainful socially distancing Parisians. 😂.

It's so apt , as our local Facebook is inundated with complaints about the hordes of non-socially distant tourists flocking to our rapidly drying up streams & reservoir. And the potential for bringing Covid to our very small market town .

Sotd is roger & gallet eau des bienfats.
Refreshing Blood orange and citrus and is safe to spray in the sun.

yoikes · 01/06/2020 11:15

Sotd avon lbd weekend again
I've been wearing pp by the fireplace in the evenings. It's so lovely.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/06/2020 12:10

SOTD TF Soleil Blanc. Yesterday was MMM Beach Walk - they are really so similar, but Beach Walk is just slightly sweeter.

Calmasasleepycat · 01/06/2020 13:00

SOTD Tommy Girl. For me this is a real go to perfume in the heat, a bright citrussy floral with a honeysuckle note.

French, I’m not familiar with Histoires de Parfums as a house, but I think I need to explore it now. Prolixe sounds delightful and I love soft spicy perfumes.

yoikes I have By The Fireplace on a list for Perfume Parlour shopping, but have a zillion samples to use up first.

cantbelievemyeyes · 01/06/2020 21:40

Evening all - very little fragrance has been worn this week, been full of busy settling in our two lovely greyhound boys! All going well so far; have to laugh though that my husband has been desperate for a dog for years - yet it's me they've initially formed a stalkerish attachment to!

SOTD was EA Green Tea Mimosa. Fresh, lovely, and cheap as chips - have barely touched the 100ml I bought last summer.

yoikes · 01/06/2020 22:20

4160 tuesdays are doing virtual perfume making sessions so I've booked one!

FloraMacDonald · 02/06/2020 18:29

That sounds fun yoikes, how does it work? Is that what you're spending your £200 on?

yoikes · 02/06/2020 18:50

It's £100 flora

If you go on the 4160 fb page it's on there.

PearsMorgan · 02/06/2020 21:18

Oo that sounds exciting. SOTD Ffern Spring and
SOTE Encens Flamboyant inspired by walking through a fragrant pine wood this afternoon.
