Will we see any royals out and about anytime soon?

Nice dress though I’m not sure about just the shoulders in isolation

BlingLoving · 18/05/2020 15:30

Does kate really wear dresses so much in normal life? I mean, I understand her preference for dresses when she's out and about. Or rather, I accept it - it's her thing. But I struggle to get my head around this idea that she must wear a dress like this for a Skype call of this sort. Why not just wear a lovely blouse or whatever?

Look, she can wear whatever she likes, obviously. I just find it odd and it jars because it doesn't feel normal.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/05/2020 15:59

That dress is the opposite of the yellow one as I think it looks better in full-length view than Zoom call view.

Maybe she's wearing it over jeans and bedroom slippers!

One of my sil only wears dresses. I’m a jeans girl through & through. So I can totally see Kate wearing dresses in normal life.

BlingLoving · 18/05/2020 16:59

But we know she often wears jeans/jumpers etc - many pap shots of her are in trousers, not dresses (although I have seen a few floaty dresses as well).

It's just me being nitpicky. I know. Sorry. As you all were! Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/05/2020 17:05

Yeah, if you'd asked me what I thought Lockdown Kate wears then Breton top, dark blue skinnies and white Supergas would be my guess!

I think it a "work clothes" mode. I actually miss having "me" clothes and "work" clothes. Nothing beat getting up in the morning and putting on jeans rather than a suit I knew which mode I was in. These days with a change of role and the general dressing down in offices (and longer having cats to click my office wear) I don't really have a distinction any more. I certainly don't get changed when I get in from work anymore which I used to do for years.

getdownonit · 18/05/2020 17:44

But did she take 'work clothes' up to Norfolk, in case Zoom calls beckoned?

AdaColeman · 18/05/2020 18:13

If she didn't take work clothes up to Norfolk with her, I'm sure an RAF helicopter or a Roller with a Royal Standard flying would soon have supplied anything Kate needed!

thisenglishlife · 18/05/2020 19:23

I hate balloon sleeves.

I think either Kate has a huge clothes room, or had these clothes delivered.

Golly, that is an unflattering shot of Kate from that zoom call.

thisenglishlife · 18/05/2020 21:41

This one too, someone isn't picking nice screen grabs!

That dress is a typical Kate day visit dress, fussy pattern collar long sleeves ect. She may or may not have taken stuff with her but that dress screams kate at 'work to me' so maybe delivered or brought in lockdown, if she wasn't organised.

I personally prefer a lot of the jumpers/tops she has worn so far...I even quite like the theory Kate is trying to wear the rainbow the symbol for hope after lockdown, that is the kind of literal dressing I can get behind and I like as a pre lockdown normal move from Kate.

This dress is everything Kate gets wrong for me, the collar, the pattern, the fussy sleeves it's all to much have a pattern or a sleeve or one thing but all together is too much her hair wasn't great today either!

However the message they were sending super important and I'm glad mental health especially now is one of the issues William and Kate are still highlighting obviously that's the most important part!

RomaineCalm · 19/05/2020 00:50

I don't like the red dress at all - I know it's her work wear but it's too fussy and the collar looks odd. I think she could have worn a white shirt with a jumper over the top and looked just as good and kept the pj bottoms and slippers on.

I love the fact that they are promoting the mental health message and it's vitally important, just don't like the dress.

AngelaScandal · 19/05/2020 04:24

What’s the deal with these sister wives dresses???? She might as well be holding an apple pie ...

ajandjjmum · 19/05/2020 08:37

I think Kate dresses in the same way she dresses her children for public occasions - traditional and (on the whole) inoffensive. Like George's little shorts and Charlotte's smocked dresses. Always appropriate, if not stand out.

Then when they're not on show they can wear normal casual clothes, and will blend in with others.

thisenglishlife · 19/05/2020 12:06

Considering that most of the Lockdown pieces are current pieces (being sold right now), Kate has probably been Internet shopping.

BlingLoving · 19/05/2020 13:42

Loathe the dress but it's right up her style. I think she likes these sort of statement dresses that, let's face it, only people who are super thin can get away with.

thisenglishlife · 19/05/2020 15:10

I think that Kate started the print phase last year.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/05/2020 16:33

To be fair, the printed midi has become quite in style since last year so maybe she's not as oblivious to trends as some assume!

OP posts:
AppleKatie · 19/05/2020 18:55

I don’t think she’s oblivious at all. How could you be in her position!

mrscampbellblackagain · 19/05/2020 18:57

I don't think she is oblivious but I doubt she is looking at the new in pages on nap/asos every week Wink

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/05/2020 19:00

GFY Royal wedding rewind for Harry and Meghan, whose 2nd anniversary is today.

mrscampbellblackagain · 19/05/2020 19:09

I loved everything about Meghan's look for the evening party.
