Oh come on 🙄

AdaColeman · 02/05/2020 13:39

I loved Charlotte's birthday dress. I thought it was just the sort of style a five year old would pick, the large collar, all the frills and gathers, the gathered sleeves...
I've not seen a floor length photo of her, but wonder if they have given her black patent shoes for the monochrome effect. Bright pink or glittering ruby shoes would be a fun choice.
Lovely photos, did Kate take them?

justasking111 · 02/05/2020 13:39

My grand daughters are dressed like this for the photo shoots, xmas, mothers day etc. the rest of the time mummy puts them in peppa pig, frozen, princessy type clothes which they love. One day they may blush seeing themselves dressed in the way they like today.

I expect Charlotte is exposed to Disney and enjoys costume type clothes, what I do not expect is her privacy invaded whilst going through this phase.

Just because we have never seen them in their favourite pyjamas does not mean they are not allowed to.

justasking111 · 02/05/2020 13:40

I think Kate does take them, lucky to have a mummy with this skill.

AngelaScandal · 02/05/2020 13:41

There is a happy medium though between Ghost of Victorian Past and Princess Sparkle gear. The Euro royals seem to manage it well enough

Ninkanink · 02/05/2020 13:43

I just do not see what’s wrong with it, at all. But I expect it’s just one of those things that’s a bit marmite and you either love it or you don’t.

justasking111 · 02/05/2020 13:54

Looking back through time is something to consider, you would feel a bit daft if your Bananarama, Spice girls outfit turned up decades later Grin

Nowt wrong with peter pan collars or smocking to make a picture timeless.

Ninkanink · 02/05/2020 14:03

Yes and in historical terms the Victorian era really isn’t all that long ago. It’s not as if they’re dressing them in medieval garb. It makes reference to the children’s own recent heritage as well as being relevant to their descendants in the next one or two hundred years. It does make sense from a historical perspective, IMO.

Plus it’s not as if their utterly alone in dressing their children in clothing of that style - the relevant companies obviously have a bigger market than just George, Charlotte and Louis. Just because the masses don’t wear it doesn’t necessarily make it awful, nor utterly irrelevant.

Ninkanink · 02/05/2020 14:04

Grrrrrr I hate this autocorrect! *they’re, obviously!

villanelle5 · 02/05/2020 14:43

Charlotte is very sweet!

TSSDNCOP · 02/05/2020 14:46

She's a cutie isn't she. Beautiful hair, cheeky minx smile.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/05/2020 15:34

Charlotte's dress is good old ZARA!

OP posts:
NoGravyForYou · 02/05/2020 16:48

I was just about to say the dress is from Zara, so it can't be that old fashioned. It's not like a Kate got it from one of the small online boutique type things where she got all the shorts and shirts for George when he was a baby. On the Zara website they style it with a pair of silver ankle boots which are just fab!

AppleKatie · 02/05/2020 16:56

The children are lucky that Kate has a good eye with the camera. I strongly suspect it’s important to her to take the pictures and make picture taking part of play/family time and not expose them to an endless stream of photographers.

I’ve got a rubbish eye but if I was in Kate’s position I would have lessons to learn how to do it myself too.

Charlotte is looking more like the Middletons now.

Came across these photos of Kate and family at her uncle Gary's wedding.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/05/2020 18:28

I thought Pippa was Meghan in that photo!

TSSDNCOP · 02/05/2020 19:12

Does a shit picture of Carole even exist?

mrscampbellblackagain · 02/05/2020 19:14

There is quite a lot of similarity between Meghan and Pippa - that's what makes me laugh in the windsors.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/05/2020 19:17

You mean PUPPA!

OP posts:
mrscampbellblackagain · 02/05/2020 19:19

She is my fave character.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 02/05/2020 19:48

Puppa is fabulous!! Johnny’s a billionaire, not a millionaire, a billionaire. Grin

thisenglishlife · 02/05/2020 19:51

Yes, uncle Gary is rather colourful. He has been married four times and has admitted to going off the rails and taking drugs. He was also filmed apparently taking drugs and offered to help the reporter get a hooker. He was also photographed punching his wife in the face. He also has shock tattoos and a shaved head.

Some Kate related info from Gary:

  • He bought W&K a backgammon set from Asprey as a wedding gift (it was on their wedding gift list)
  • On Middleton Christmases: "There would be no telly, we would walk for miles and would not be allowed to open our presents until after supper."
  • "I used to go to Hamleys and get a personal shopper to buy the kids everything they could want, and we used to play with them in front of the fire.’
  • "Kate was a tomboy", but that didn’t stop him buying her first designer handbag (from Gucci)

He sold his company for £17 million and has helped Carol and James with their businesses. He has said that he considers Carol as his second mother.

thisenglishlife · 02/05/2020 19:59

What do we think?

TSSDNCOP · 02/05/2020 20:20

Nah. It's the teeth that are the difference- if you have Pippa those teeth that the Yorkshire Terrier dog stole it'd be a closer match Grin
