Will we see any royals out and about anytime soon?

I very much doubt there’s any rule against it, tbh.

I think it’s more that Kate has certain style sensibilities and she sticks to them fairly rigidly.

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/04/2020 17:34

She's worn dark nail polish on her toes before, maybe she just forgot in Bhutan! Or was wearing a pale colour.

I was being sarcastic fwiw

Ninkanink · 28/04/2020 19:38

Oh 😆 it’s hard to tell sometimes...

thisenglishlife · 28/04/2020 20:07

@paradyning 😂

Apparently, the Queen thinks that wedges are rather ugly and ungainly and prefers others don't wear them around her.

Kate loves wedges on the other hand and we've seen her in them a lot, but only once with the Queen.

The Stuart Weitzman Corkswoon wedges that DOC used to wear a lot, but I don't think she's worn them in a while. She seems to prefer espadrilles now.

I like wedges as they're so comfortable but are they a little dated now?

OP posts:
thisenglishlife · 28/04/2020 21:08

I agree that they are comfortable and that perhaps they are rather 'noughties'.

thisenglishlife · 28/04/2020 21:21

I like the Pied a Terre Imperia wedges that she has in black and white.

On the topic of the supposedly - I mean supposedly from the tabloids - verboten dark nail varnish, here is Diana sporting some pretty bold red nails.

I’m not sure wedges are dated unless you’re talking in terms of fads/trends only. I’d venture that they’re a classic and can look good if done well. But they’re just a bit... safe, I guess, so can easily become frumpy.

The very high and very clunky ones pictured above are very dated, and also quite inelegant. The ones pictured in the montage are much better.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 28/04/2020 22:33

I love wedges. I’m
Limited mobility so can’t wear stilettos so a wedge really helps giving height. Not as smart obviously but better than flats when dressed up.

LadyEloise · 28/04/2020 23:46

I love wedges too.
Height and comfort.

BeaLola · 28/04/2020 23:50

I could never do heels - but I bought a pair of jigsaw wedges sandals years ago to go with a particular dress and they were a game changer - wedges I can walk in , pointy stilleto shoes I can't

Wetdogloveshubert · 29/04/2020 16:44

Meghan has dialled in to talk with a former psychology student going for an internship interview via SmartWorks. She looks well, though I dislike the deep v neck.

GFY has a royal wedding rewind for William and Kate's anniversary.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/04/2020 16:46

I think that's the same sweater Meghan wore with the red leather skirt?

Thank you for the photos, Queen. That was a nice wander down memory lane. 😍

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/04/2020 17:59

I still like Pippa's dress but she looked like she'd been tangoed! Beatrice's coat was actually quite nice but it was overshadowed by that hat. I didn't care for what Eugenie wore either, in fact it wasn't a great all-around showing from the British royals apart from HM. Carole looked lovely.

Wetdogloveshubert · 29/04/2020 18:27

Apparently so, @QueenOfTheAndals! Maybe some cynical recycling going on? And on their wedding anniversary too - more scene stealing?

The wedding reel was a lovely throwback. I remember enjoying the whole day as it felt so joyous Smile #sap

AppleKatie · 29/04/2020 18:39

Lovely retrospective thanks. Kate’s is the best recent royal dress for me by far.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/04/2020 19:31

It's only a wedding anniversary @Wetdogloveshubert and not a major one at that. Not much of a scene to steal!

The skirt on Kate's dress was a work of art; the pointy bodice not so much, but the overall effect was very successful.

SenecaFallsRedux · 29/04/2020 19:36

Not much of a scene to steal!

I agree. Also I think it is generally possible for consumers of royal media to focus on more than one story in at a time.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/04/2020 19:36

I didn't realise until today that the fabric of her dress was embossed. She must've liked those pointy bra cups in her dress, even her evening dress had them.

OP posts:
LadyEloise · 29/04/2020 19:51

Perhaps Kate was channeling her inner Madonna / Gaultier Smile

I didn't like Eugenie's outfit.

So many of those very high platform court shoes - Victoria Beckham and Sophie Wessex were wearing them.
