Are you still buying clothes online?

I went on the White Stuff website last night and they seem to have some amazing sale deals and be taking orders as normal. I nearly clicked but suddenly thought about all the workers in the supply chain and that they should really be staying at home. Are you still buying stuff online?

If you mean buying pjs for me to lounge around in for the next 5 or so months then yes, yes I did!

Zucker · 26/03/2020 20:21

Buying "stuff" doesn't feel right now. Ads on social media pushing merch and disposable fashion are just so distasteful.

Gannetseatfish · 26/03/2020 20:26

Yeah I think that’s how I feel but it’s so tedious being stuck at home.

Trying not to but I'm probably getting induced next week at 35/36 weeks. Baby has severe health issues and is expected to be around 3.5 lbs. Swithering between tempting fate by ordering premature clothes now and holding off and being unable to get any delivered.

SybilWrites · 26/03/2020 20:29

Not real clothes - I did order some running/exercising stuff (for the day) and joggers for the evening. I'm exercising several times a day, and so are my children and we're running out of clothes!

joggers just because.

bogoblin · 26/03/2020 20:34

I felt guilty about doing it but I ordered some maternity basics for around the house the next couple of months or however long this takes - I need something comfortable and that's going to fit me

FizzyPink · 26/03/2020 20:36

For some reason I’ve really gone off clothes shopping the last few weeks, I just don’t care anymore. However the money I’ve instead spent on food, wine and homewear is frankly obscene

oohnicevase · 26/03/2020 20:36

Next have stopped as of tonight , I think others will follow soon .

AliasGrape · 26/03/2020 20:39

I ordered some maternity stuff last week before the lockdown, did question whether I was doing the right thing but getting to a point where nothing fits me.

Depending on how long this goes on for I'm going to have to order stuff for the baby, we have absolutely nothing because I’ve been superstitious about buying early. Not due till July though so I’m trying to hold out hope that things will be more normal by then, even if not totally back to normal.

IsolatedIzzy · 26/03/2020 20:43

I am conflicted! Feel bad if I order none essentials as I'm taking resources away from the 'main effort' but then if no one buys anything for 3 months then even more Companies will go bust! It's really difficult!

CathyorClaire · 26/03/2020 20:43

Yip. Exercise gear and now some sale gear from Fat Face.

The economy's tanking so I'm taking one for the team.

NorthernGravy · 26/03/2020 20:49

I have bought a couple of bits from small independent websites which have policies on staff working from home etc, but I have avoided most other places.

I am conflicted as I’ve been unwell and need a new blender as I’m struggling to chop food and have had serious ethical guilt over it. Temped to pay over the odds and buy from John Lewis as I them to have better standards than other places.

Bellebelle · 26/03/2020 20:50

No, last week I was planning on buying up half of the Hush website but as the days have gone on I went off the idea. Combination of reasons, gone off the idea of buying new stuff, guilt at all the people in the supply chain who are having to come into contact with others unnecessarily and while my job is currently secure who knows what could happen long term (I work in financial services) so it makes me feel better to be saving as much as possible just in case.

As others have said I think most places will stop online deliveries and if you get to the check out of lots of websites they’re saying delivery in 3 - 4 weeks but not guaranteed so some places are obviously shutting things down without publicising it.

nanbread · 26/03/2020 21:03

I bought some much needed running gear a few days ago but now we are in strict stay at home mode except essential work it feels wrong and immoral of shops to be promoting stuff.

february08baby · 26/03/2020 21:04

yes from shein and ebay.

boredom = buying

I must stop!

Eesha · 26/03/2020 21:54

Not really, the fact that I can't really go anywhere nice for a long time just makes me appreciate and want to wear what I have at home. I'm a single parent though so only my kids see my state!

Bella2020 · 26/03/2020 22:00

I've been ordering online as usual with no issues. I ordered a skirt in the Next sale this morning, but later heard they closed their warehouse at 18:00 this evening. So, I dont know whether I'll get my parcel or not. I'll just have to wait and see, I guess! And wait to see if other retailers follow suit.

Eesha · 26/03/2020 22:03

It's just occurred to me that I wanted to buy a jacket as a present for someone in mid April. Is it worth buying it early in case online gets shut down?

Thankssomuch · 26/03/2020 22:04

I have no qualms about it - it’s keeping money moving around - but actually my usual online haunts seem to be shutting down services . As if things weren’t bad enough...!

GenxfeellikeaBoomer · 26/03/2020 22:14

I haven't bought anything on line for ages. No point. I'm still going to work everyday but I just don't feel like creating non-essential work for other people.

squeekums · 26/03/2020 22:23

Yep i am
Yesterday i put a AFL guernsey on pre order. My footy club needs all the help it can get ATM during the AFL shutdown
Got DD some easter presents last week
Globe is having sales ATM, may look at some sneakers and i need more hair dye which i can only get online

Im stimulating the economy.......

JaneEyre7 · 26/03/2020 22:28

I ordered some boots from Duo in their closing down sale.

They don't bloody fit, and they've ceased trading as of today citing the virus as hitting their final efforts too hard. So that's £150 down the drain unless I lose a few inches from my calves on the "can't get any fecking groceries" diet that Ocado are determined to inflict on me.

I'm not chancing anything else now, in case companies do go under.

JaceLancs · 26/03/2020 22:33

No I can’t think about it!
Bought office equipment for home working though
