Royal style: Max and Wax and whacky hats

Now that the Commonwealth event is nearly over, we have another treat ahead of us. Maxima in Indonesia!

In light of what happened on the previous thread, I'm going to take a leaf out of Elizabeth SMT Holmes' book and say critique the clothes and the styling but not the physical appearances of various royal women.

Strictly Emma?

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/04/2020 19:21

Yep, that Emma!

I can't quite believe Lord Bath has died.

FATEdestiny · 05/04/2020 20:04

I think the Queen wearing this broach in the address to the nation.

frugalkitty · 05/04/2020 20:08

Anyone else watched the Queen and got a tear in the eye?

Wetdogloveshubert · 05/04/2020 20:33

I watched, and it made me remember the seriousness of this situation. I'm still in the holding it together stage, and feeling grateful for having a spouse who encouraged some frugal living.

I hope you're all safe and well at home, and for those who are frontline in any way in particular, stay well. I miss this thread's frivolity!

I like HM's dress this evening. Her lippy was spot on.

FiveTwoFaster · 05/04/2020 20:41

I hope she gets to see her friends and family again as much as anyone else. And I hope she’s a master at Zoom!

Like the brooch! Less showy off than a big sapphire eveningy number.

megletthesecond · 05/04/2020 20:51

I had to watch HRH stoically as I didn't want to blub in front of the dc's.
Nicely appropriate outfit.

paradyning · 05/04/2020 20:56

Her lippy was more pinky than normal it looks like. Nicholas Witchell was hilariously grave in BBC

AdaColeman · 05/04/2020 21:05

I liked HM’s green dress, and that her pearls and brooch were relatively understated, I felt it was all suitable and appropriate.

paradyning · 05/04/2020 21:14

Think you're correct on the brooch FATE

Heygirlheyboy · 05/04/2020 21:14

Her dresser is Irish apparently. (Where's the shamrock emoji?!)

SenecaFallsRedux · 05/04/2020 21:40

I just watched it. Well done and quite moving.

I liked that she wore green, a color for spring and rebirth.

MotherofPearl · 05/04/2020 22:04

I also found it quite moving. She's so reassuring.

I thought her outfit was perfect.

AdaColeman · 05/04/2020 22:10

A nice touch that she wore Queen Mary’ s brooch I thought.

Wetdogloveshubert · 06/04/2020 07:50

For anyone looking for a touch of interiors, normcoreroyals on Instagram has a video series today looking at old British RF palace / house booklets, interspersed with images from interviews, photographs etc. like the children's christenings. insta

Wetdogloveshubert · 06/04/2020 07:55

One more, thought this may be of interest.

Loved HMs outfit last night. She spoke from the heart imo.

Hope everyone is doing ok. I've had a catch up over the weekend and really enjoyed seeing the Diana pictures. Because there are so many different style "influencers" these days I think it's easy to forget just how much she dominated the magazine covers in the 1980s and 90s because there wasn't really anyone else to compete with her.
I liked the colour of the Queen's dress. It made me think of the new leaves just coming out on the hawthorn bushes.

BlingLoving · 06/04/2020 11:05

I was pleasantly surprised by her address. I had expected to find myself thinking, "platitudes" and actually I didn't.

Agree, I liked the colours and brooch she was wearing. There was something slightly odd about her hair but I suspect that's as much as anything because she probably doesn't have her regular hair dresser around.

Whattheother2catsprefer · 06/04/2020 11:23

I can just imagine the conversation
"Phillip, can you pop a few curlers in the back of my hair please?"
"Bugger off Lizzie I've just climbed on to the dinning table and I'm pretending that this antique chair is a horse and I'm doing a spot of virtual carriage driving".

SenecaFallsRedux · 06/04/2020 14:28

I thought the same thing. I do sympathize. There is something more than slightly odd about my own hair these days.

paradyning · 06/04/2020 15:33

I guess Angela would have done it.
I thought her voice sounded a tad croaky.

How have you access to Charles wardrobe ?Wink

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 06/04/2020 19:35

When she said we’ll meet again I was done for. I’m an emotional basket case at the best of times and these are definitely not the best of times.
