Previous thread

What will tomorrow bring for Kate? Does her love for green know no end?

And Thursday night sees the return of Meghan! I know she can be polarising so let's stick to just discussing her clothes rather than the intricacies of Megxit. There's plenty of other threads to do that!

Well, tbf, Kate never shows her hair 'as it is' either.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/03/2020 12:15

Welcome @Tsukukuviri, I saw your comments on some other threads and I thought you were spot on.

I'm interested to see how H&M handle their patronages going forward as I've not heard they're giving up any except for his military ones.

Zara IS a Royal!! She is the Queen’s granddaughter, for heaven’s sake.

ashtyler · 08/03/2020 12:17

Drina you would be the first to moan that she's disrespecting the Queen or some other rubbish. Just admit you can't stand her and can't say a nice thing about her.

ashtyler · 08/03/2020 12:17

Hi @Tsukukuviri and welcome!

ashtyler · 08/03/2020 12:18

Well said Becles she can't do wrong for doing right and is expected just to keep putting up with abuse with a big smile on her face. It's horrible.

Spudlet · 08/03/2020 12:18

Hi @Tsukukuviri! You’re spot on there, I reckon.

drina27 · 08/03/2020 12:18

Kate’s hair has never been poker straightened - to my knowledge. If it’s natural, it’s got a beach wave look which is always a good look anyway.

theschoolonthehill · 08/03/2020 12:21

Why doesn’t she ever show it as it is?

I wonder if people ever look at me and wonder why I don’t allow my hair to be in its own naturally wavy, very frizzy and greying natural state.

I pay a hair salon a lot of money to dye and chemically straighten so it is easier to manage. If I could afford it I’d pay my salon a ton of money to give me human hair extensions.

I expect she is the same.

ashtyler · 08/03/2020 12:23

On a completely different note, how gorgeous does Max look here? She's just so expressive. I bet she's a right laugh

@drina27

Considering the politics around Black women’s hair I really think it’s unwise for you to dictate how MM should wear her hair, particularly as, unless you are actually her hairdresser, you actually know nothing about what its texture is.

As someone said, it’s okay to not like her, you don’t have to go on this faux outrage about black hair, particularly when you know perfectly well what the reaction would be if, for instance, she had ever worn her hair in an Afro!

Thanks so much to all of you for the welcome. I love the insightful and fair minded comments on this thread and admire how it’s been such a reservoir of calm.

Will be commenting more on clothes and style in the future! I have found my people!

I am not dictating how anyone should wear her/ his hair.

theschoolonthehill · 08/03/2020 12:29

Luckily I have never had to use anything to cope with mine.

Then I can’t possibly see why you have opinions about those of us who do.

thisenglishlife · 08/03/2020 12:30

I think the chimpanzee photos when Archie was born, constant attacks and dog whistle racism did it. They knew their son would receive the same.

It was never a level playing field (mixed race, American, divorced, actress, etc). Harry and Meghan could have done a lot of good, but they never would have been allowed to overshine more senior members (somewhat fair enough, but it was holding them back. They are dynamic, ideas people).

Worst of all, no public support from the other royals. The Palace has issued denials when others have claimed Kate has extensions and botox, but nothing to help H&M? The royals have held back other things and 'lawyered up' for more minor things. Unacceptable really.

Meghan looked stunning last night. All red was exactly the way to accessorise the dress - the Simone Rocha earrings and Manolo Blahnik clutch were perfect.

What I really loved was that she'd coordinated with Prince Harry's military colours. This is exactly what military wives did in the past although am glad she just went with the colour and stayed clear of the frogging!

Sunshineand · 08/03/2020 12:37

Perhaps that’s because it “is” fake given that it is hair is African American in texture. Why doesn’t she ever show it as it is?

Wtf is 'African American' hair?
You have no right to question how a mixed race woman chooses to present her hair. Absolutely mind boggling.

Sunshineand · 08/03/2020 12:40

I’m just not a fan of artificially straightened hair - on anyone. It’s a bit passé now, I think. Luckily I have never had to use anything to cope with mine.

'Lucky' you. Then you have no idea what you are talking about .

kirinm · 08/03/2020 12:44

@ash no apparently according to those on the hateful Meghan thread, her smiling is her trying to emulate Kate. Because smiling is only something Kate is allowed to do.

TSSDNCOP · 08/03/2020 12:45

I would think she may see her hair as an extension of her overall style; which is generally sleek lines even with casual look. I wear my hair short and coloured because it “goes” with my wardrobe and lifestyle. Don't most people chose their hairstyles because they like them, it suits them, makes life easier rather than to make a statement?

TSSDNCOP · 08/03/2020 12:51

I worry for Harry though. Leaving his passions behind are going to be so tough; he seems to thrive off the occasions where he’s with service people. I think Meghan is going to need huge reserves to support that; it must be so daunting. I wish them all the luck.

beanaseireann · 08/03/2020 12:54

Did I not mention Simone Rocha earlier on in the thread Smilealthough it was in relation to Kate wearing an Irish dress designer's workon her Irish visit.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/03/2020 12:56

Come to think of it, yes you did @beanaseireann. Is she related to John Rocha? (Sorry if it's an obvious question, Irish designers aren't my forte!)

OP posts:
hopeishere · 08/03/2020 12:58

Yes she's his daughter @QueenOfTheAndals

shartsi · 08/03/2020 13:05

Meghan is wearing a Givenchy dress to church today. One hater was slating her for not wearing Givenchy. I guess same hater will find something else to blame her for.
