Previous thread

What will tomorrow bring for Kate? Does her love for green know no end?

And Thursday night sees the return of Meghan! I know she can be polarising so let's stick to just discussing her clothes rather than the intricacies of Megxit. There's plenty of other threads to do that!

I love the shoes. They are always a bit different.

SenecaFallsRedux · 05/03/2020 17:51

As for patronising, your comment about a “tin of shortbread” is both rude and patronising to the Scottish people.

I disagree. Scottish people talk about the "tartan and shortbread" sense of Scotland that so many non-Scottish people have. It can be a shorthand way of pointing out that there is a lot more to Scottish culture than some 19th century often contrived notions of what being Scottish means.

theschoolonthehill · 05/03/2020 17:52

Are they sling backs? I’m dying to know what is under the coat! She looks stunning.

frugalkitty · 05/03/2020 17:54

I don't like Meghan's shoes, I like the ones with the little bow on the back.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 05/03/2020 17:54

My prediction is glam make up. Dark lipstick, dark nail polish and smokey eyes.

Spudlet · 05/03/2020 17:54

Thanks! The shoes are a bit strappy but she does have the delicate ankles for that sort of thing.

beanaseireann · 05/03/2020 17:55

She looks so polished.

Gooseysgirl · 05/03/2020 17:56

This is a twitter link to a video of Kate making a rather good attempt at Gaelic Football today... I might just be able to forgive her for the endless green now 😄 https://twitter.com/ciaraphelan_/status/1235567089148100608?s=20

SenecaFallsRedux · 05/03/2020 17:58

Are they sling backs?

They have a slender back strap.

thisenglishlife · 05/03/2020 18:02

Great expressions during the G football match. The sporty/casual look is the one she suits the most.

More green, Kate?! This style of dress doesn't suit her chest/torso. A bit 80s again too.

She's using a hurl in those photos, so she's hurling there, but as she's a women she's actually playing camogie!

I actually really like her jumper today. I would say that this trip hasn't been the greatest fashion wise, however I think it's been a big hit PR wise.

Looking forward to seeing Meghan tonight, she's got literally nothing to lose and no one to try and please any more so I'm hoping for something amazing!!

@SenecaFallsRedux
I am Scottish. Lecture not required.

drina27 · 05/03/2020 18:23

Kate’s expressions are great. She is so definitely sporty. Smile

theschoolonthehill · 05/03/2020 18:23

however I think it's been a big hit PR wise.

How have you come to that conclusion? The mainstream Irish media have only touched on it. A large proportion of Irish population hardly know they are in Ireland, a significant number wouldn’t even know who they are!

NoGravyForYou · 05/03/2020 18:30

Yes I am Irish so I'm aware it's not really that important here. I think it's been a big hit for PR in the UK. Lots of shots of them being touchy feely, gazing at each other and in general enjoying themselves. It's reinforced the idea that they as a couple are strong and happy and reliable.

NoGravyForYou · 05/03/2020 18:31

And actually given 9 years ago when The Queen came there was lots of people unhappy and people protested outside of the garden of remembrance, I would say the fact that people are indifferent to them being here is a huge improvement.

I completely agree - particularly in connection with their reliability.

ETA I sincerely hope Sinn Fein DO NOT manage to scrape a party together!

theschoolonthehill · 05/03/2020 18:51

PS I have asked for first post to be deleted. Irrelevant to the thread and I’m still reeling in shock from the recent Irish election.

NoGravyForYou · 05/03/2020 18:57

I did say earlier on I did think it would have been interesting to see how the visit would have played out had SF managed to form a government before the visit, alas we will never know!

Meghan!

Lovely if a little boring....

NoGravyForYou · 05/03/2020 19:11

Oh goodness someone boo'd them when they arrived 🙈

MotherofPearl · 05/03/2020 19:12

At least no frills or flounces on that blue dress! Smile
