Bought my prestige just before Xmas and started at new year , at first I thought it wasn’t working but about 4-5 cycles in now and bikini area is about 80% hair free and legs just have the odd patches left , I’m confident that in a month or so I will be hair free 😀.
Best £250 ever spent and completely life changing not scraping away at my legs daily . I’m excited to put fake tan on and not have it removed all summer by shaving .

I’m sold! Where did you get it from?

zippyswife · 03/03/2020 17:41

I want one!

efeslight · 03/03/2020 17:45

I also have one and am impressed but i do have to keep using it, otherwise the hair does grow back.

Donkeytail · 03/03/2020 17:47

Same. I got on for Christmas after reading all the hype here over the years and I am so impressed with it. I am very pale with dark hair though so the perfect combo for the lumea.

ichifanny · 03/03/2020 18:09

Yes efeslight that remains to be seen even if the majority of it stays off it’s still a total game changer I used to spend days in summer wearing leggings as my legs got a rash from shaving so if they stay smooth it will be fantastic , I got mine from amazon on offer but I’m told the advanced the cheaper model is just as effective.

Love mine !!

Ninkanink · 03/03/2020 18:24

Yes it’s great.

It doesn’t claim to get rid of hair indefinitely (although I think some people do find that with prolonged use hardly anything grows back) - essentially it puts the hair follicle into an extended sleep phase. So you do need the odd maintenance treatment.

I’ve done 5 treatments, maybe 6? And have had no regrowth on my legs at all, none on my underarms, a little on my top lip and maybe 10% on my intimate area. I’m doing another treatment tomorrow and then I envisage switching to monthly or 6 weekly treatments.

ichifanny · 03/03/2020 18:26

That sounds like a great result Ninkanink even if I still had to shave slightly it’s a two second whip over with the razor these days instead of the hacking away at bamboo it was not long ago .

I bloody love mine. I’ve had it for a few years now and because I’ve kept up the treatments, I only need to use it every couple of months to keep on top of regrowth. If you have the ‘right’ combination of colouring (for the IPL to work), it is a brilliant buy. You can get them from loads of places. Boots (good if you collect Advantage points), Amazon, John Lewis, etc. They’re often on offer too.

Ninkanink · 03/03/2020 18:31

Yes. I’ve found that the hair that grows back on my intimate area isn’t anywhere near as spikey when I do shave, either.

ichifanny · 03/03/2020 18:34

Yes much softer and less wiry

Is it painful?

Paintforkitchen · 03/03/2020 18:37

I got mine 3 years ago. I‘ve used it on on lower legs, underarms and bikini line. I did it religiously every 2 weeks for the first few months. I now probably only use it maybe every 3-4 months for a top up. I’m not even sure that’s necessary as nothing appears to be growing except the occasional stray. It’s really amazing.
Have started on thighs now ready for this summer.

Bluewavescrashing · 03/03/2020 18:38

It's not painful unless it gets a bit hot. Minimal though, just uncomfortable

HumphreyCobblers · 03/03/2020 18:38

I have dark hair but quite olive skin - would it not work on me?

Paintforkitchen · 03/03/2020 18:39

@ILikTheBred it’s not painful, more uncomfortable. Mine has different settings so I use the strongest on my legs and a lower setting on bikini line. It’s a bit like having an elastic band flicked at you.

georgialondon · 03/03/2020 18:42

Love mine. Better results than salon

EntirelyAnonymised · 03/03/2020 18:43

You see, I’d say ‘yes’ it is painful. I think having a hot elastic band flicked repeatedly at your skin (especially your genitals!) is painful Grin. It does get more bearable though, the more you use it and i find the level of ‘discomfort’ Wink varies depending on my time of the month.

chocolatespiders · 03/03/2020 18:48

Anyone got the advanced with great results?
Can only find the prestige at £400.00

Ineedanewusername · 03/03/2020 18:53

Im not getting great results but i wax instead of shave. Should i shave instead? Shaving no matter what products i use makes me itch.

Ninkanink · 03/03/2020 19:00

I think I do remember reading somewhere that it’s best to shave. Might be something to do with the hair being attached to the follicle and conducting the light further into it or something.

Paintforkitchen · 03/03/2020 19:19

@Ineedanewusername you have to shave, as waxing removes the root and the root needs to be there for it to work (that’s my understanding anyway)

NarniaBanarnia · 03/03/2020 19:19

I’m interested in this!!

Does anyone know if it works if you’ve had previous laser (not IPL) treatment!? I mean I can’t see any obvious reason why not but maybe I’m missing something?

Also: what model do you all use?

I’ve had successful laser treatment in-salon a few years back which was life-changing (can’t shave or wax without rash/ingrowns) but some of the hair treated is growing back (finer but still more than I would like) and I can’t afford to keep booking top-up courses even on a half price deal.

But which model is good?

I have pale skin dark hair, ideal combo for IPL As it also was for laser I think?

ItchySeveredFoot · 03/03/2020 19:23

I covet one so much! Like a pp I can't remove hair without getting a horrible itchy rash and pretty much every hair being ingrown for a while. I'm really pale with dark hair too so I'm ideal!
