Moo7878 · 28/02/2020 12:05

Exactly that. Need some help please! Want to be able to wear them with jeans, dresses etc.

I like converse but I'm a little out of touch I'm the first to admit! Thanks

Stan Smith

I have these from M&S and I am pleased with them:

Superga!

Sooverthemill · 28/02/2020 12:36

There are so many! Adidas originals are good, Stan Smith too, superga, look at John Lewis own brand, jigsaw are very comfortable.

Hoppinggreen · 28/02/2020 12:37

Superga, so comfy but also approved by my fashionista teen

OrlandoInTheWilderness · 28/02/2020 12:39

Converse every time!

Moo7878 · 28/02/2020 15:49

Thank you everyone! Might try some Supergas!

I'm 43 & fancy buying some white Nike Air Force 1s. Or maybe white with a dark pink or red tick. Can't decide.

MadamShazam · 28/02/2020 19:12

I have a pair of Reebok classics in white, they are super comfy.

missl1 · 28/02/2020 19:19

Anything but the ubiquitous Superga and Converse. Novesta?

CountFosco · 28/02/2020 19:55

I have Stan Smith (which are very comfortable and a really nice shape) with the original green detailing. I also have pure white Veja Esplar which are very like converse in the flatmess and shape but are leather and environmentally friendly. My next trainers shall probably be Novesta with the natural rubber sole (currently lusting after the navy and ecru ones) but I also love the Jigsaw and M&S options above. My aunt (in her 70s) has M&S ones that she wore to an outdoors wedding and they are really fab and very good quality for the price. Mint Velvet and Hush are probably worth a look as well but I've not worn them so can't comment on the quality. Oh, and Rogue Matilda are always fabulous.

Ellapaella · 29/02/2020 08:49

Superga are more ‘pumps’ than trainers imo, so are converse. I have white pumps but for me they are more of a summer shoe. I have some white leather trainers but they are unbranded. If I were to get another pair (I don’t need any so I’m not) I’d go for white Nike Air Force or Stan smiths.

Soontobe60 · 29/02/2020 08:56

I can't wear Superga or Converse as they don't need support my feet enough. I have a coup,e of pairs of Addidas trainers, one all white, one white with pale pink trim.
I've just bought a pair of NewBalance, with my DDs approval, in mustard and blue. I wear trainers most of the time, with jeans, dresses and tights or leggings. On my 1 day of work I still wear them with ankle grazer trousers.
I'm 60!

barberousbarbara · 29/02/2020 09:06

I love my white Reebok Classics. I also have a pair of black Adidas Continentals in black, which I'm tempted to also purchase in white. I have high arches and can't wear Converse or Superga

MadamShazam · 29/02/2020 10:09

Also have a look at Gola trainers, there are some really lovely ones on their website.

Katiepoes · 29/02/2020 10:12

CountFosco what is the sizing like on the Novestas? They are lovely! I size down in Converse and Superga, do you know?
OP I have seen lovely Puma white leather trainers, I don't remember the name but they were quite narrow, the toe was almost almond shaped.

RedIsWhereItsAt · 29/02/2020 10:22

Are the novesta star masters wide? I love them (plus they're vegan) but I have wide feet, I had a pair of converse which were far too narrow.

Xylophonics · 29/02/2020 10:30

DD has Reebok, can't see why a 40 yo can't wear them too.

PeytonManning · 29/02/2020 10:31

My personal faves are Vejas, Stan Smith’s and Tretorm. I trip over my Nike AF1s all the time, plus the all white version is a bit 15 yo VSCO girl.

CountFosco · 29/02/2020 10:47

CountFosco what is the sizing like on the Novestas? They are lovely!

They are lovely aren't they! I've not bought a pair yet so can't comment on the sizing unfortunately.

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 29/02/2020 10:56

Superga are more ‘pumps’ than trainers imo, so are converse.

Totally agree with this. Whenever anyone asks about trainers and somebody mentions Superga or Converse, I feel myself get irrationally irritated by it and want to say they are not trainers!

SnuffleBadger · 29/02/2020 11:04

I have Nike Air Force 1's in a metallic pale blue and love them. So comfy! I am 41 and wouldn't wear the plain white version, it is what all the local teenagers wear

KaliforniaDreamz · 29/02/2020 16:05

i have stan smiths (classic with green bit on heel) love them but currently finding them too flat so have switched to
nike air max all white (kids size so cheap)
fancy some new ones tho

fascinated · 02/03/2020 21:07

Can I jump on and ask sth? I’ve just ordered the Adidas sleek, reason being the tongue on the Stan Smiths looked massive and really weird in the Adidas video. I have quite wide feet ..Am I going to find them too narrow? Should I have just got the Stan Smiths?

Supersimkin2 · 02/03/2020 22:04

Nike Air Max look a bit more now and withstand 60 degrees in washing machine.
