Hi is anyone following this??? I've started last Saturday. I've read the older threads but couldnt find a recent one. I don't have instagram or Facebook so don't have anyone to chat to about it. It's definitely more work than I've ever done on my Hair but I've always been pretty lazy to be honest. My hair is only wavy but has potential. I'm due to get it cut ✂ in a couple of weeks because its been 9 months 😵. Must say i am getting good results for the first week. I washed as normal Saturday and added a hair mask. I sprayed on leave in conditioner after and used Tesco gel as my product. I made a spray bottle of water and leave in conditioner and have been using it to revive my hair daily plus a little humectant. I actually wore it down today and it looked good although a little crazy at the roots 😂 ill wash it either tomorrow or Saturday. I got a new product to try today also 🤞. Anyone want to join me???? I can't be the only one. It feels like there's so much information out there I'm almost a little overwhelming so it would be great to find a kindred spirit 💇

Bugger I've lost a big reply.

@bottomplasters tell me about your journey so far!!!

Im still going, I only wash my hair weekly (or longer) so it's a long process. When I refresh I'm using water in a spray bottle, then dry naturally or diffuse. The idea is the water reactivates the product in your hair. I've found it difficult to get my hair to register product after washing so I'm learning a lot still. I was using too much conditioner so I've cut that back. I think it needs protein so I've a mask in now so will see how it looks in the morning. I definitely get better results when i refresh and add a touch of gel but that's because the gel isn't registering while washing. So yeah lots of learning. I also keep it simple and am trying to register if I try something new. So I don't try new shampoo and new gel and a new drying technique at the same time. My hair is definitely wavy wavy not cascading curls but time will tell. 😁

Yes, I shan't be shaving mine off just yet!

I've stopped using gel and just use the Boots Curl Creme each morning after I've conditioned it. I wash it about once a week. I think I had better curls with gel and creme but there's only DH to see it now so it seems a bit unnecessary. It's a lot shorter dry than wet which is a relief because it's hiding the fact that it desperately needs cutting quite well.

Happyinheels · 05/04/2020 12:29

I was considering trying this again and sticking it out through lockdown as no one is really going to see me transitioning!
I used to have lovely thick hair that I could diffuse to great curls.
But I've been straightening my hair the past few years and my hair is in terrible shape. I still have a lot of hair but it seems lank now. And it is so dry and coarse, it doesn't matter what I try to do to hydrate it nothing seems to work. In fact it feels like when I wash my hair as soon as the water hits my hair, my hair feels awful.
I'm so desperate that I was even considering doing a unicorn cut on myself!

I do it but with my own tweaks. I dry with a diffuser and use mousse because I find gel too sticky. I also don't faff about with my hair in a buff at night I just wet then dry it in the morning. It's ok I don't think my hair is vastly different or more curly it's just more defined and less frizzy. I always wore my hair curly anyway

I want to put pictures on but can't work out how to put a sticker over my face!! My hair seems to look ok but feels minging to me! Day 5 today

I'm not quite a curly girl but I follow the routine to a point. I have incredibly thick but fine hair that has a lot of bounce and minimal S waves. Hairdressers often joke I should be charged twice for a cut! I was blonde until Christmas when I had grown enough length to have the bleached parts cut off. I'd also had many many applications of Brazilian blow dry over the years so this had finally grown out too. Now I'm rocking my natural dark blonde/light brown colour (with natural white highlights Wink)

Because of the bleach, Brazilian blow dry, the amount of heat and straightening I've done plus the damaging sulphate shampoos, the top layers of my hair are so dry, damaged, coarse and frizzy. I'm using CG method to repair and bring out the best in my hair. I don't like how it looks when I've followed the CG routine to make my hair curly so I've changed it up a little. So now I use AsIAm Co-wash and garnier almond crush leave in conditioner only. No gels or curl cremes or anything with hold. I then rough dry on a cool slow setting, leaving it bouncy, sleek and semi straight. Loving lockdown as it means I can get past the greasy-getting-used-to-zero-sulphates part of the routine.

Hi guys, so I have just ordered all the stuff coconut co wash, cantu curl activator and cantu custard. This week however I just washed once with conditioner and then done the hair gel and spray thing. Not a dramatic improvement so I am hoping the products make a bigger difference.

I have 2c hair apparently! So my basic steps are (if I have this right!)

  1. Wash hair with sulphate free conditioner
  2. Use silicon free gel in the shower on wet hair.
  3. Dry with a T shirt not a towel as this creates frizz
  4. Dont use heat - and a diffuser on a lowish setting

Should I also use a leave in conditioner? After the gel? Or am I getting myself confused....

Bottomplasters · 07/04/2020 08:50

I'm also confused about the conditioner. I washed with co wash, used curl activator and then some Tesco gel. I am awaiting the cantu custard. I'm wondering if there will be any difference. I wrapped in a t shirt but couldn't leave for long as needed to leave for work so didn't really get a cast.
