Doing a great blow dry on yourself

Can anyone do a great big bouncy curl blow dry on themself? I've got hair past my boobs and it looks so lovely after hairdressers but I can't seem to do it on myself. I can curl with straighteners but doesn't have the same oomph!

I have always been good at drying with a round brush and a drier but recently bought the Revlon One Step- I blast until nearly dry with the drier then finish off with the One Step. My hair is SO good and I timed myself the other day and it took 6 minutes and I have really thick wavy hair. I've been walking around with the best hair I've had in my life,it's incredible.

I know I sound like and advert but I promise I'm notGrin

Oh and MOUSSE is your friend,is forgotten how good the stuff is having not used it since the 80s !

doadeer · 02/02/2020 10:20

Oooh good tips thanks! How long is your hair?

Another fan of the Revlon one step. Bought it last week and three friends have since gone out and bought it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/02/2020 11:17

My hair is just past shoulder length but I like a lot of bounce and volume.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/02/2020 11:17

Lots of YouTube reviews where people with long hair have used it.

amarante · 02/02/2020 12:38

Is the revlon better than the babyliss big hair?

Oly4 · 02/02/2020 13:20

I’m wondering the same thing. I love the big hair but my hair ends up frizzy again

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/02/2020 15:37

Big Hair was useless for me, style lasted half an hour if I was lucky and I got frizziness and it ripped my hair out. Revlon is a complete game changer, it's brilliant

MyFavouritePlace · 02/02/2020 15:44

Had a look at Revlon one step but there are 3 of them. Which one would you recommend for straightening?
Agree with the Babyliss comments, lots of frizz and pulling hair out!!

NorthernGravy · 02/02/2020 16:47

It’s this one. www.boots.com/revlon-pro-collection-one-step-dryer-volumiser-10235019

Babylis big hair was rubbish for me. It never properly gripped my hair. Revlon is a game changer.

Excitedaboutanamechange · 02/02/2020 16:58

Ooh, glad I've seen this post as over been looking for something to give me a good blow dry!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/02/2020 17:03

You must blast your hair first with a hair dryer and dry it until it's about 70/ 80% dry then go over it with the Revlon.

Mummyshark2018 · 02/02/2020 18:13

I recently got this and am really happy with it! Hair does look like it's been done in a salon. www.problogroup.com

There seem to be a lot on eBay that are new but much cheaper - are they the same thing?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/02/2020 22:03

I wouldn't get a cheap one, some have blown up. I did consider it but the real one has a 4 year guarantee (I think,it's long anyway) so went with that.

There's a comparison review between the real one and the fake one and the bristles aren't as good iirc.

VeganCow · 02/02/2020 22:11

I’ve also got the revlon and it’s amazing. I blast first for couple mins with hairdryer then use a clip to section off. Pull bits at a time out until all done. It’s so easy and quick.
Don’t get the cheap copies as they can overheat and have loose wiring

queenbeeof3 · 03/02/2020 20:35

Revlon one step all the way!

I used the babyliss big hair for years, but last January (2019) I bought the revlon one step and OMG I'm hooked! It's brilliant! So quick to style and the results always look great! Even when I'm in a hurry and think I'm doing a terrible job! Worth every penny!

My poor babyliss big hair is confined in the drawer ever since...

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/02/2020 21:16

It hasn't damaged your hair has it Queen? I'm so worried it will and I'll have to stop using it!

OverByYer · 03/02/2020 21:19

Head jog brush in the largest size and a Parlux hairdryer

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 13/02/2020 00:05

I wonder if the Revlon is available here (Canada)... will have to have a search. I don’t get on with my Babyliss Big Hair at all.

Wincher · 13/02/2020 00:09

I've just bought a cheapy thing from a Facebook ad (came from China) which looks just like the Revlon thing, I didn't realise it was imitating it. I love it - works really well. I've never been able to manage a brush and a dryer at the same time on my own hair.

Honeybee85 · 13/02/2020 00:10

Use a round brush, a good hairdryer and some professional hair styling product.
