First day at work shoe/trouser dilemma (pic)

Starting back at work tomorrow for first time in 5yrs, last time I worked it was all flared and boot cut trousers. I thought this might look dated now so I bought some straight leg trousers but do they look silly with court shoes?

The trousers at their shortest length and the skirt/tights look really lovely with the court shoes.

No to the boots unless it snows!

Primark have got some nice blouses in at the moment, floaty and loose, for about £10-12. These would be good with skirt and skinny trousers if you need more options. I wear with a black or white underneath (so I don’t flash anyone inadvertently 😁 )

If you can some cheap flat loafers, that would work even better. But the trousers you’ve just tried on are good

Thanks, they feel so short, especially when I sit down. I tried the long leg but they bunched up a bit at the top of the shoe. I'll go with these though. Thanks to whoever suggested the next trousers as that's what I got, i think so anyway!

I'm heading to sainsburys next so I'll see if they have the loafers sometime suggested earlier and try those. Thanks all!

Defo’ the boots and skirt or the flatter shoes with the trousers taken up to around 7/8 length. Good luck for tomorrow! Depending on dress codes and your industry, how about experimenting with some chunky trainers too?

It is weird looking at the short leg styles for those of us who remember trinny and susannah mocking women for wearing their trousers too short!

Your new trousers will work with your courts and with your flats.

The shorter trousers look perfect. How tall are you? Do you need the height of the heel?
I'm going to throw a fly in the ointment- that's my look march -September then it's absolutely freezing in the office and I need to wear Chelsea boots and socks, or 60denier tights and long boots - jumper, scarf, fingerless gloves, and a blanket at times!

I think you should wear what you think looks nice. I think short trousers always look like the trousers don’t fit. Fashion is ridiculous. Be comfortable.

Bare feet is absolutely fine. I think tights under trousers looks quite naff, personally.
