Bar soap with long lasting scent

Inspired by the various threads on here I switched from shower gel to bar soap a few years ago and have never looked back. It is much better value and I certainly smell fresher.

One thing that eludes me is a bar soap with a scent that lasts. I have bought many from TK Maxx that smell gorgeous when fresh out of the box but the scent fades after a couple of weeks so it is no longer a lovely fragrant lily of the valley or orange blossom, just a faint vaguely soapy sweetness. Even worse, one pack of all natural soaps I bought from Amazon smell lovely in the box but as soon as they get wet the fragrance vanishes.

The only product I’ve found so far where the fragrance lasts to the end of the bar is the Sanctuary salt scrub bar from Boots but it’s quite a clinical, medicinal sort of smell. Lovely for days when I need an early morning energy boost but not so good for a leisurely night time shower.

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Lush soaps keep their scent.

Thelaughinggnome123 · 25/01/2020 12:47

Nest Dante from Amazon or l'occitane, both keep their smell.

Thelaughinggnome123 · 25/01/2020 12:49

L'occitane soaps from l'occitane that is.

Chanel No. 5 soap. Yes very expensive but one bar lasts a year as does the scent.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/01/2020 13:03

Another saying L'occitane

I am loving the sound of Chanel no 5 soap though!
Didn't know they did that.

InglouriousBasterd · 25/01/2020 13:13

Lush do (but I also find they are quickly used, unlike others)

Bomb cosmetics.take a bow
Smell fantastic and lasts.

Glitterb · 25/01/2020 13:17

Molton Brown always has good scents

snappycamper · 25/01/2020 13:22

Shield soap is the only one I've tried with a scent that lasts. It's quite similar to laundry powder though, nice but very soapy

Jamonfirst · 25/01/2020 13:24

Neal’s yard - organic, £4 and long lasting scent

Bogoffrain · 25/01/2020 13:27

Imperial leather! Was considered posh when I was little

Neste Danti Cypress soap scents the bathroom beautifully, but isn't too lingering on the skin.

TheVanguardSix · 25/01/2020 13:45

Aveda bath bar (rosemary and mint). Gorgeous. But it costs a bomb.

TheVanguardSix · 25/01/2020 13:46

L'occitane soaps from l'occitane that is.

My favourite scent!

Cordylina · 25/01/2020 13:47

I love Nesti Dante soaps but I don’t think the fragrance lasts on the skin. I just use Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse or the Florale one after showering.

BinkySodPlop · 25/01/2020 13:51

The Yorkshire Soap Company. I use the botanicals range, and buy 4 at a time (they have gift boxes) to save a little per bar. To be honest, I think most of the natural, triple-milled ones should keep their scent, as it's part of the bar, rather than added fragrance, iyswim.

ItFigures · 25/01/2020 13:53

Molton Brown, Diptyque and Chanel fan here. Pricey but they last and the scents are divine.

Forestcantrun · 25/01/2020 14:51

@snappycamper can you still buy Shield??? That was my favourite smell through my childhood. My dad always used it ❤️

Jemimapuddleduk · 25/01/2020 14:55

Lush ones are fabulous. Also fenjal- last ages and keep their scent x

ElloBrian · 25/01/2020 14:58

Jo Malone soaps keep their scent v well and are gloriously creamy and lather up well. Pricey but they last.

snappycamper · 25/01/2020 16:14

Forestcantrun they sell it in my local Tesco. Looks like it is available on amazon too, cheap as chips
